They were the Savages. Raiders from our distant past. Elites who left Earth to create tailor-made utopias aboard the massive lighthuggers that crawled through the darkness between the stars. But the people they left behind on a dying planet didn't perish in the dystopian nightmare the Savages had themselves created: they thrived, discovering faster-than-light technology and using it to colonize the galaxy ahead of the Savages, forming fantastic new civilizations that surpassed the wildest dreams of Old Earth.

We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Story
In the 20th century Earth sent probes, transmissions, and welcoming messages to the stars. Unfortunately, someone noticed. The Galactics arrived with their battle fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined their vast Empire. Swearing allegiance to our distant alien overlords wasn't the only requirement for survival. We also had to have something of value to trade, something that neighboring planets would pay their hard-earned credits to buy. As most of the local worlds were too civilized to have a proper army, the only valuable service Earth could provide came in the form of soldiers....

Publisher's Summary
Warrior. Slave. Survivor. Emperor.
As a crumbling Galactic Republic falls to the relentless assault of a merciless foe, so begins the rise of an enigmatic emperor intent on saving a corrupt galaxy-spanning civilization from itself… and from something much darker that lies beyond the reaches of the known.
Just as the reins of power fall into his iron-fisted grasp, an assassination attempt by a hidden cabal within his own inner circle jeopardizes every plan he has set in motion for his Dark Legion, his Imperial Navy, and his ultimate conquest of the stars. But the assassins have no idea who they are actually dealing with…or what he has become.
Imperator is a darkly heroic epic that spans the boundaries of time, space, friendship, and one man’s quest for a power that never should have been found.

love galaxys edge
I basically fell in love with the galaxys edge series if the author can read this your series is like a mix of star wars and warhammer 40k, of both universes that I have read a lot into and I find myself craving more from the universe of the legion, tyrus rechs, wraith, and all of it. it's a perfect mix for vets who have seen combat and love sci-fi and science fantasy

Thinly veiled mediocre Star Wars fan-fiction
Even calling it thinly veiled is an insult to the comparatively denser properties of a veil. If there wasn’t some valuable backstory early on in the book I would say it was a complete waste to listen to, and I almost never leave bad reviews; that’s how salty this book made me.
This book isn’t actually too bad if you never heard of a thing called Star Wars. For all 3 of you out of the loop this might be a newfangled delight.
If I had to weigh it against anything from the Star Wars franchise, I think only the Muppet Special could be considered worse, and it’s way worse than any actual Star Wars book I’ve read, which is maybe about only half a dozen?
This? This book was dumb and completely unnecessary. I don’t even want to read the follow-up if there is one. Madame Guillotine should be considered the last book in the series because this POS shouldn’t even be included.
This review probably won’t stop any fans from reading it but hopefully it dissuades people that randomly stumble upon it.
Here’s what goes down in the book:
1. Really informative backstory for the first half of the book
2. Slightly confusing out-of-sync flashbacks and fast-forwards throughout the middle
3. Full Star Wars rip-off for the last third. And a mediocre one at that.
!!!actual spoilers below!!!! Only read this to save yourself time and money.
- Casper didn’t die, he disappeared and went into stasis for a 5 year hyperspace trip to find the Dark Wanderer in an effort to wield its power
- He lands on Planet X or whatever you want to call it and starts tripping out while his hunter-killer bot makes snide and sarcastic remarks to make the pacing less dull
- You get flashbacks of when Casper Rex and Rayna all escaped the Savages. This tells us how Rex got his armor and hand canon. It’s not that interesting
- They find the “source code” of the universe, and then leave it alone and swear to each other that it anyone goes back that they must die
-Rayna and Casper both end up breaking this promise. Rayna died before Casper did on the same planet
- Casper goes through some rigorous Sith training and eventually faces and defeats the Dark Wanderer. Allegedly. There’s someone called “The Master” and I’m pretty sure that was the actual Dark Wanderer, but in case it wasn’t the whole Dark Wanderer being loosed on the world and putting existence itself in jeopardy never happens and it’s never implied that it will happen
- Casper kills Rex with the Force and burns his body and takes his armor
- Casper renames himself Goth Sullis, becomes the dictator of the galaxy and has a somewhat epic battle at the end where a bunch of Legionaires try to assassinate him. They fail, he feels great about that, then completely sheds the Casper identity and memories and that was the end of the book.
I hope that saved you some time and money. Otherwise, enjoy the shitshow.
Even RC Bray didn’t seem like he was digging it and he’s almost always top notch. He was probably embarrassed for the series.
There’s a lot of good Galaxy’s Edge books but this is not one of them. Stay away from it and anything related to it. There’s much better actual Star Wars fiction out there.

What a Galaxy
I've been really enjoying the stories set in this ever expanding world. When taken with the other stories, it has become difficult to pick out who the Bad Guy/Entity of the Universe is. This audiobook adds some wonderful background to a up and coming character, it fleshes out the Universe more, and it helps explain the.. hmm.. psionics? I don't know. In any case, its a good listen, had a tough time breaking away from it. I'm looking forward to more of these side stories.

I am so excited for the next book! These guys are making me very happy! I want more and more. I hope the next book is 64 hours long. I love the different perspectives and timelines. They delve into their characters and infuse them with a robustness that takes your imagination on a fast paced action packed adventure. It’s is dark, sometimes creepy but also appears solid and fact based. Keep weaving this galactic tapestry, please. Thank you to R.C.,your voice helps bring this universe to life for me. Becoming the Thing You Fear
This is a standalone novel and gives the backstory to Galaxy's Edge.
It follows a man, a boy, Casper, an innocent, who had honourable ideas, but let his thirst for power destroy the man he wanted to be; he gave his humanity away to become Goth Sullus., and found that not all that glitters is gold. It touches on the man Tyrus Rechs and Raina and what made him the man he was. It also gives us a hint of Prisma's mother.
This wasn't, for me, the best of the series and left me at a loss at times, but narration of R C Bray saw me through.

Gives depth to Goth Sullis story
As a newbie to GE I decided to listen to this to get some background on the main protagonist Goth Sullis, it’s a good book and superb narration I’m just not sure I should have listened to it before the other books 🤔

Confusing at times.
I have to say I did not enjoy this book in the series as much as the others. Maybe it is just me, but I found there were times I was completely lost as to time and place he was. At least I can understand now how the power came about. Let's see how the next book goes.

Still unfinished, likely to stay that way.
I had to give up on this series halfway through this book. It became like wadding through mud to get to what little pleasure was left for the reader/listener. Long rambling narrative with plenty of confusing diversions and precious little character development, I found I just didn't care about what happened to any of the characters any more so switched off and moved on.

fascinating story but hard to keep engaged
characters were hard to really engage with and love, but concepts were interesting. i did struggle to keep listening at times and had quite a few gaps in time between listens. i do like the concepts and ideas in it, but the execution wasnt quite right.

bruh
How good.
Yes there are clear parallels to star wars but its written in such a way that had me honestly craving more when I wasn't listening. The whole flashback story on the Moirai was worthy of its own movie or video game spin off (dead space/doom feel to it)
Knowing the whole story of Goth Sullus helps me understand him in the main book line so much more.

Imperator
The only book I didn’t finish. I marked this as finished because I couldn’t listen anymore. R C Bray was on point as usual but I did not like the story line at all. I’m disappointed as I really like the series. Just hope book 4 will bring back the entertainment

A long background sory about a name
Not the best in series, in fact, might have put me off continuing series altogether
