Publisher's Summary

Over the years, Connor has pieced together evidence of a mysterious group of aliens who roamed the multiverse and have been to New Earth.

Setting off to make new discoveries about them is straightforward enough, but this is New Earth, and Connor Gates has a knack for finding trouble.

For over 20 years, Connor and Diaz have been friends. They’ve survived two wars and have seen the best and the worst of each other. When a terrorist attack takes the life of Diaz’s son, their friendship will be pushed to the breaking point.

To find who is responsible, Diaz is willing to cross as many lines as it takes. Connor will do everything he can to protect his friend, even from himself. It’ll take everything he’s got to find who is responsible while preserving a peaceful coexistence with New Earth’s inhabitants.

Sometimes protecting your friends is a lot tougher than fighting your enemies.

Great Story

I love this book due to the fact it’s not a world ending continuation of the series, it was exploration and discovery, we need to live and love also beside war.

Fun listening, a guilty pleasure

Ken Lozito tells a fun tale, and after hearing his own story I’m glad that he is living his dream.
I’ve bought and listened to every book in this series, and I am a fan.
That said, find a word, ANY word, that can take the place of “hasten”. It seems weird that this is your go-to term when a person physically moves from one place to another.
Thank you for decreasing the number of times that a character’s eyes, mouth or throat “get tight”. You have definitely grown as a writer, and I look forward to more adventures!

I can't be the only one...

He doesn't die. At all.

The summary CLEARLY says that Diaz's son dies...but he doesn't. Why is no one mentioning that the literal hook of the book is a lie?

it's a shame, because it would have been a bold choice with interesting character evolution opportunities moving forward.

What's up with Diez?

Overall the book was ok. Not bad but also not good. Granted it isn't nearly as disappointing as the fourth book.

My only real complaint is Diez. His bigotry towards the Ovaru comes out of left field. I don't recall him hating them nearly as much as he does in this book and it just strikes me as odd. It feels like Lozito decided he needed to add some extra drama and so just made Diez into a bigot. Maybe he didn't trust them in prior books but he never came off as just out and out hating them as he does. It really lowers the overall quality of the book.

It was good but was a bit redundant.

I enjoyed the book but felt there was a lot of borrowed plot points from the other books and a bit redundant.

Meh storyline

Series should have ended with the previous book. The universe has a lot of potential for spinoffs, but this set of characters felt bland and the story just too small for them.

A good book with a new story.

Because the plot of this book you can read the book even if you happen to not have read the earlier books.

easily the worst in the series. DNF

After enjoying the previous books I found this book hugely disappointing, struggling to get through the first few chapters which were inane. I ultimately gave up on the whole thing and did not finish, an extremely rare occurrence for me personally.
