Story
When Remy's grandmother dies, it means leaving her life in San Francisco and returning to a town she swore she'd never revisit, forced to confront a world she'd worked hard to put behind her over the last twelve years. She's not expecting that the first girl to ever steal her heart, the pretty, popular Fallon Lewis, is still around, and in a town this small, their paths continue to cross, much to Remy's dismay. It's hard enough seeing her first love, but it's exponentially more difficult when she can barely stand to look at the woman.

Fun is the one thing Elsie Webb takes seriously. Though she'd be having a lot more of it if Haelstrom Media paid her enough to actually get out of debt. She's determined to hold out on contract negotiations for her kids' television show Fangley Heights until she gets what she deserves. There's only one problem, the head of the network just died and left her future more uncertain than ever. Maybe the characters are moving across the country. This group of short stories will give you a glimpse into the future of the Celebrities Series characters.

A really great listen!
The more I read or listen to Claire Highton-Stevenson's work, the more impressed I become. Granted, I've only read three so far (and have several more in the queue) but every one has been completely unique. I was immediately intrigued with this thriller set in Britain about a worldwide apocalyptic event. It's a really interesting premise, the two female MCs are strong and admirable, and there are a host of other characters that really add to the story. And although the book primarily deals with the effects and survival of the event, there is also a lovely (and hot) romance at the heart of it. I also discovered a new narrator in Sarah Kempton. Wow. She has an absolutely delicious English accent and a deep repertoire of voices and dialects for the various characters - both male and female. She doesn't just have a great voice - she performs it beautifully as well. I'm completely impressed with her and am very hopeful she'll do the follow-up. Highton-Stevenson is quickly becoming a go-to author for me. Highly recommend!

Definitely something different!
I have totally enjoyed this book! Great intrigue, adventure and wonderful lesbian sex! What more could any girl want?
As I listened to the beautiful voice of the narrator she described a world gone mad. And while I stay in the isolation of Covid-19, it made me realize that indeed, it could be so much worse. Home is where the heart is and we can make our own future, no matter the hardships.
In this book there is pain and loss but also hope. I can't wait for the next chapter in these characters lives.

Excellent book
I started to read this book while all over the US there were riots, during the pandemic and boy, was it not the right time, but I could hardly put this book down to go to sleep.
On one hand this comes out from such an amazing imagination on the other seeing what is happening in the world you can actually see it happening.
I already have the sequel and I am going to listen to it right now...

Fine, but not my cup of tea
It's not a bad story, and it's told quite well. However, for me, it lacked a touch of realism, and it does have a few reasonably explicit sex scenes (I usually prefer a "fade to black"). So my personal rating is probably on the low side of those that review.
The narrator does a very good job.
