Story
Over the course of its seven-year run, Buffy the Vampire Slayer cultivated a loyal fandom and featured a strong, complex female lead, at a time when such a character was a rarity. Evan Ross Katz explores the show’s cultural relevance through a book that is part oral history, part celebration, and part memoir of a personal fandom that has universal resonance still, decades later. Katz reveals that although Buffy contributed to important conversations about gender, sexuality, and feminism, it was not free of internal strife, controversy, and shortcomings.

I wasn't sure what to expect but I really enjoyed the story. I felt it was true to the Buffy story/universe. I am a little disappointed that more questions weren't answered. I'm sure there will be a sequel but there didn't need to be SO many loose ends. Other than that I absolutely loved it!

Can we please talk TV pilot!!!
I will keep this short and sweet! I loved every minute of it!
Main character Franky felt like a mix of willow and buffy in a convenient smaller package. The other Scoobies also felt like an upgraded version of the 90's counterparts!
I read other reviews about the main character, but I didn't get that at all. Being a hardcore buffy fan, she felt like she belonged.
anyways please make a pilot. We waited long enough, and I think the new generation deserves some buffy loving.

Just like a new season
I loved Buffy the vampire slayer, it was a great show that took the concept of monsters in the real world seriously.
This book carries on that tradition by not doing a reboot but a revival of the story that so many people grew up with, while also allowing people who might not have had the opportunity to find a spot as well.
Sarah, does a killer job in the voicework even catching a few of the characters minor quirks (nails willow, and spike beautifully)
overall the story is a strong first entry, allowing for the new characters to shine even with a few familiar faces. personally I can't wait for the next entry.

This is Finally the Buffy Story We Have Been Waiting For!
The first season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer aired when I was in eighth grade. I was awkward and gawky and new to my school. Buffy and the Scoobies gave me something to look forward to and when I say I never missed an episode unless there was a serious emergency I’m not kidding. I have collected all the comics. I have read the other novelizations and this one is finally the continuation we have all begged for. You can tell the author knows the Buffy verse. You can feel how much they Looove Buffy verse. This book listens like it belongs in the Buffy verse. I finished it in two listens. The narrator took the time to learn and mimic the speech patterns of known characters like Willow and Xander. The narrator also took the time to give the new characters their own voice. This book came alive. I need the next one like now. I pray to God that Disney+ picks this up and makes it a series but only if they can get the original people back to reprise their roles because that is the only way this is going to work because this book brings back the characters that I love so much with such clarity you would think it was written by the original show writers. I have nothing but praise for this book for this narrator for the editing team, it was beautifully done. Thank you so much.

very enjoyable & believable follow up
This was a great continuation of the series I loved and binged watched many times! Performance of the different voices was a bit hard to follow at first and I was very disappointed with Spike's voice at first, but it quickly grew on my and about a quarter of the way through all the voices grew on me and felt right. I would love for this to be made into a series because I could absolutely picture it on the screen! I am eagerly awaiting the next in the series! Definitely worth the listen!

Return to Sunndale - worth the trip
You have to be a Buffy fan to love this book. Yes, it reads a little bit like fan fiction, but the dialog is spot on. The references to the show make me nostalgic. The reader does a nice job with the voices. She is especially good as Willow. Overall, a fun time spent in Sunnydale.

Wow
I didn't think I'd like this being a fan of the film and TV series, especially as it doesn't feature Buffy herself, but I've got to say I really enjoyed it and listenep to it in 2 days. I can't wait for the next installment (I hope there'll be another!). I don't like the idea of a Buffy reboot TV series with the original characters cast with new actors but if the premise of this book were used, it would be a whole other matter and I think it would work really well. Frankie Rosenberg, Slayerwitch. Ace, I'd watch it!

I liked the story it drew me in quickly dispite me not being the biggest of buffy fans. The story was fun and while Sarah had some weaker points she was consistent and a pleasure to listen to.
the story itself however had some flaws and from time to time it looked like it didnt know where it was headed. It also gave off fanfic vibes all in all certainly worth the listen

I didn’t want to like it
I do and I don’t like this. I am a huge buffy fan
And I have a prop replica scythe under my bed.
So any buffy material is good
I liked chosen and slayer that were written a few years ago this was better… I just wished they had been original in character development. Didn’t like the idea of spike as a watcher… and the new slayer being willows daughter.
The return to sunnydale was a bit ike too
But the hell mouth does cast power over ignorance and well USA does seam the home of ignorance even in the real world.
Always did like vi I even wrote my own fan fiction back in the day and she was my featured character lol.
I dunno let’s see what the next one brings to this 40 year olds gay heart

Great book - bad narration
I absolutely loved the book, nostalgic, funny, plenty of the pop culture refrences (as is expected from a buffy story!) but I hated the narrative. it was nasal and robotic and way to slow for me personally. I actually had to increase the speed of the narrator as I felt the slow pace actually made the story feel slow this made it difficult to get into.
