Story
In Dimensions, Dr. Jacques Vallee reexamines the historical record that led to the modern UFO phenomenon and to the belief in alien contact. He then tackles the enigma of abduction reports, which come from various times and various countries, as well as the psychic and spiritual components of the contact experience. In the last portion of the book, he notes the factors that inhibit research into the phenomenon - the triple coverup and political motivations - and concludes that the extraterrestrial theory is simply not strange enough to explain the facts.

Story
Of the many books on UFOs and aliens, this one may be unique. Richard Dolan, one of the world’s leading historians of the UFO subject, has analyzed the different alien types and agendas based on longstanding patterns observed by witnesses. This is both a careful review of the best evidence we have of human-alien interaction, as well as a bold speculation of just who the aliens are and what they want. Dolan’s analysis starts with our ancient prehistory and potential genetic modifications and monitoring by extraterrestrials.

Forty years ago a small cadre of dedicated researchers began actively investigating cases, interviewing witnesses, and exchanging data through a small, informal network of international contacts. Today this low-profile network, or "invisible college", has grown into a larger, multination volunteer research effort joined by many individuals. But the questions first raised 40 years ago remain current - and unanswered.

There is a clear conspiracy to deny the existence of UFOs. The mainstream media has misinformed us for years about UFO studies conducted by highly regarded scientists associated with some of the finest universities in the country. There is significant evidence that the US government has covered up the alien presence through misinformation, distortion, obfuscation, and ridicule. Some prominent, politically connected scientists have engaged in the cover up.

Publisher's Summary
An award-winning journalist investigates a story largely ignored by mainstream media but right there, in front of our eyes....
UFOs, UAPs, flying cigars, extraordinary new technologies.... Are we not alone?
Award-winning investigative journalist Ross Coulthart has been intrigued by UFOs since mysterious glowing lights were reported near New Zealand's Kaikoura mountains when he was a teenager. The 1978 sighting is just one of thousands since the 1940s, and yet research into UFOs is still seen as the realm of crackpots and conspiracy theorists.
In 2020, however, after decades of denial, the US Department of Defence made the astonishing admission that strange aerial and underwater objects frequently reported and videoed by pilots and tracked by sensors are real, unexplained, and pose a genuine national security concern.
Compelled to investigate, Coulthart has embarked on what's become the most confronting and challenging story of his career, speaking to witnesses, researchers, scientists, spies and defence and intelligence officials and insiders. What he has found suggests that the world is on the cusp of extraordinary technological breakthroughs and cultural revelations.
Bizarre, sometimes mind-blowing and utterly fascinating, In Plain Sight tells a story that's largely escaped the radar of mainstream media coverage but has been there all along. Now it's time to observe what's in front of our eyes.

Ross Coulthart =👍 This audiobook = 👎
I really respect the author and his journalistic integrity, but I couldn't finish the audiobook and will be asking for a refund. My two biggest criticisms:
1) The cadence and style of the voiceover works for TV shows, but it is too exhausting for an audiobook. I would have much preferred a calmer style.
2) I get frustrated when UFO/UAP books spend chapter after chapter recounting the history of the phenomenon from the first sighting by Kenneth Arnold or even Roswell. I think most people who would be interested in this book, probably already know these old UFO events.
If someone were truly wanting/expecting a full historical recap, I'm guessing they aren't going to this book for that type of experience. I was expecting this book to be completely focused on the current situation. Even 2000s to present would be better.

Deep breath… Great insight and info, but, deep breath…
This is a great book, but is also a prime example of why authors should be banned from ever narrating their own audiobooks. Coulthart breaths like a bellows at the end of every single sentence. Great info though, no complaints on the content. But, deep breath… the narration is an audio nightmare come to life. Deep breath….

Narrator diminished the quality of the book
The is nothing really new in the book. I don’t fault the author for that, but the publicity surrounding the book implied lots of juicy new insights. There aren’t any.
The real problem is the narrator. His loud and bombastic voice made the content he was reading sound like it was coming from the National Enquirer. It effectively made every claim in the book suspect just due to his tone. And why did he need to make every American being quoted sound like a drunk used car salesman? Really, really poor narration.

on the payroll
the first segments of this are really good and very informative. sadly this guy is on the payroll of who or whatever is controlling the narrative that's being disseminated to the public.
there is real information here, and I believe this man was genuinely attempting to learn what was going on when he started... unfortunately at a certain point in the exposition the narrative abruptly flips over to a very patronizing fluff style treatment of the subject matter which instinctually leads me to believe that he has been compromised in one way or another. Not to mention that his bizarre attempts to do American and British accents don't belong in this context, as well as that they trivialize the gravity of what he's supposed to be talking about.

Horrible Performance
An interesting story on UAP is sadly derailed by a horrible narration and distracting performance. The audiobook is filled with an annoying and distracting audible gasp for air, almost as if the narrator is breathing through a scuba tank at the completion of almost every sentence.
The producers and/or editing team should have caught this earlier in order to mitigate the torture.
Do yourself a favor and purchase the paperback instead and avoid getting trolled by the narrator.
If only I could get a refund for this hot mess of a performance..ugh

Lifelong interest in UFO/UAP and space led me to buy this book.
I do not have a photographic memory, but the sum of stories I have heard kept my interest going. I could not put this book down. Will.need to listen once again.
If you're an expert on the field already, this book might not give you much new information? I'm not sure.

Great book!
Enjoyed this book, and found the information really interesting. His skeptical approach and cautious guidance made him easy to follow along with, even when things sounded absolutely crazy. My only critique is that his American accents are humorous. The way he does it is the way we would do an impression of someone we are mocking. I'm sure that's not his intent, but definitely noticed it. Overall 5 stars for sure!

Excellent research of the UAP phenomenon
Fantastic analysis of the sometimes questionable evidence scattered throughout the subject. Coulthart speaks the words most of us are thinking when we hear some of the more sensational claims that have become commonplace with UFO'S, he calls out the bullshit, and presents the evidence exactly as it is, which is often shocking. I found it refreshing to hear someone genuinely excited and intrigued by the evidence he finds, but managing to keep his cool, and thankfully, a level head when he presents the evidence. He speaks a fantastic spark of humour, but manages to avoid letting it sink into mockery. It was fascinating to hear the sober version of the famous stories from UFO history, and a tonne of new information gathered I had never heard before. It is encouraging to have another great piece of journalism to offer people new to the subject, that isn't full of divisive merchandise flogging agendas (Stephen Greer), and new age spiritual stink breath. It really allows you to see the Phenomenon for what it is, something undeniably real, but critically misunderstood. I feel genuine sympathy for the people in military and government service whose lives have been irreversibly changed when witnessing events they couldn't comprehend, but were then mocked by their command and colleagues, and even somewhat for the people who have been forced to cover it all up for the last 80 years, who will ultimately be held accountable. Who else, too afraid to speak up about their experiences for fear of damaging their career or reputation are still staying quiet?
But you cannot avoid the conclusion that behind all this, people in private industry, and in collusion with shady figures within world governments, have hidden groundbreaking secrets from humanity, likely motivated by greed and power, and it seems likely now, fear of retribution.
The conclusions this book draws are absolutely staggering, I was constantly fascinated, and enjoyed Coulthart's writing style immensely. He thanks his family for putting up with his research for this book over the last two years, but I implore them, please let him do another one.

Mind Blown Even For An Enthusiast!
I love going down the rabbit hole, especially when it comes to UFOs but even for me there is so much stuff to learn from Ross' wonderful book. It's so great how Ross manages to weave so many threads together into a single chronological journey and manages to make it all so captivating. I found myself wondering if he'd mention certain things that I think are important/surprising (like Delonges comments about Atlantis) but he really does hit everything! It's incredibly conclusive. Ross' performance is also fantastic, though I've got to be honest... He's not great at accents (sorry Ross!!). I'm also very glad Ross shares lots of his own views rather than just recounting the events. I really, really hope Ross remains a part of this conversation because he's invaluable and a very trusted voice in this field that's so often filled with charlatans and unhinged people. This really is a must read/listen for anyone with any interest in this field.

Shocking, astounding, brilliant!!!
I went for the audible option of this book, Narrated by the author himself, Ross Coulthart. Ross has an engaging reading voice, pleasant to listen to.
On the material itself whether you are new to this phenomena or (like me, I'm 58 years old) you've read a multitude of books and watched pretty much every documentary on the planet there really is something for everyone in this book. Ross is clearly adept at digging deep into this subject bringing a professional investigative mind to what is quite a complex subject. I like the way he presents the evidence, corroborating individual accounts methodically and carefully. Ross himself plays the sceptic and sets the bar high (quite rightly) when drawing conclusions from available data. I think that's what really makes this book such a must read for anyone interested in the phenomenon. Read how Ross chases down every ounce of data, connecting with some very high level individuals from the US military, intelligence service and the military industrial complex. This subject matter is both compelling and fascinating. I sincerely hope that Ross continues to investigate the phenomenon and eagerly await future revelations from him. I defy anyone not to enjoy this book and let's be honest the potential ramifications of the subject matter is of great concern to every human on this planet.

You have to listen to this
R Coulthart is an award winning Journalist and has done soo much research for this book. I have listen to many a UFO or UAP books and some of the events just seem too far fetched. In this book Ross has interviewed soo many credible people and what they have told him is eye opening. A great listen and by far the best and most detailed researcher in this field. I hope he carries on researching and brings the world closer to the truth.

Strange and mindblowing
Don’t think one necessarily becomes a “believer” after this. But given the authors professional experience it’s hard not to take this, however crazy, somewhat serious.

Gasping Mouth Breaths before every sentence
Just a terrible vocal performance punctuated by trite accents and an incredible number of strained gasping breaths directly into the microphone.
Narration is its own profession and Ross clearly lacks the necessary skill to read his own work aloud.
The book itself is a neat collection of some done-to-death and lesser known UFO stories.

Mind blowing book!
Incredible research by Ross. So much more detail than the TV doco. It makes perfect sense that more advanced alien lifeforms would be here now observing us, we know they could have evolved several billion years ahead of us. We're like an ancient zoo for them to visit at weekends!

Narration lets it down- sadly!
I think the book would be very interesting ( it did start out that way ) but I couldn’t bear the narration. Apologies to the author/ narrator but narration is a very different action to reporting ! I’ll buy this and read it myself and would advise anyone to do the same.

For God’s Sake - Edit Out The Deep Breaths!!!
This book covers topics and areas outside of the standard UFO literature, making it refreshing and interesting.
The narrator does a good job and is clear and understandable….but for the love of god please edit out him taking deep breaths before each sentence.
It sounds like he’s about to swim 50m underwater each time he starts a new line.
Totally ruined this for me.
Once you’ve unheard it, you can’t unhear it!!!!!!

The definitive modern UFO investigation.
Ross has done an amazing job of rounding up and analysing both historical and modern revelations in the world of UFOs, especially the Australian connections which I were largely unknown to me as an Australian. We need more journalists like him to start digging.

narration was very bad
Ross should've really asked someone he trusted to listen to a few chapters prior to release.. the American accents are horrendous and inconsistent. very well put together book but my God the narration 🤦♂️

great book, terrible natation.
The book is actually really good and full of fascinating information. Unfortunately the narrator (who also happens to be the author) insists on attempting terrible American and other accents throughout the book, as well as taking deep and obvious mouth breaths before every sentence. It makes it quite hard to focus on the information when you are constantly rolling your eyes at the cringy accents or wishing the guy would learn to breathe through his nose. Maybe just read the book instead of going audio on this one if you can.

Was hoping for something more.
Ross is quite amusing reading his own work and adding some pep to his
characters voices, however I was left thinking, Ive heard all this before!.
Nothing new to see here, other than a real investigative reporter bringing further credibility to the subject of the Phenomenon
