Publisher's Summary

Mitch is on a last-ditch drive to save his career with the Scottish Institute of Archaeology after his ex-lover Lewis stole his research into the legendary Pictish saints. Mystical pre-Celtic statues are hidden somewhere on mist-wreathed Dove Island. Now Mitch is tearing out to the coast in the hope of reaching the saints before his treacherous ex can stake a claim. At his side is his devoted assistant, Owen. Owen adores Mitch, but he's the quiet, loyal type. Despite himself, Mitch is still dazzled by memories of flamboyant Lewis - and in danger of destroying his newfound happiness with Owen. As the race for the saints intensifies, Mitch is losing perspective. Will he learn how to appreciate the love of a good man before he plunges himself and Owen too far into the deadly mysteries of Dove Island?

Short but Amazing Story!

Art the beginning I did not like the main character. I did not like the way he treated Owen. Then this story went were U did not expect. Harper For never disappoints. A proof that a good read does not have to be long. I will look for this narrator, Tim Gilbert, again.

Harper Fox gives me life

May the gods bless her and keep her. If I should ever know even a shadow of the kind of romance that Harper conjures in her books I would be a very happy man. Such a treat. Every time. Sigh.

Nice story

This was a nice story, not a lot in depth because of its length, but pretty good.
The affect of the narrator probably made it less appealing. I think his voice would be great for certain stories, but not this one. It made the characters feel older and flatter than they were meant to be. His voice sounds like an old fisherman no stranger to drink and smoke, good for some stories, not others.

Not Harper’s best

“Sunbeam” “bouncing like a cork”. Both used in other novels. As a fan of her work this unfortunately appeared to be a phone in. There was a disconnect with the images and voice of narrator. Tim Gilbert is fine but images used for promotion don’t fit. Character development - I found compassion for none. I do look forward to better stories because Harper does them.- Seven Summer Nights and Brothers of the North Sea.

Cute, but not great

I had a hard time caring about most of the people in this story. They redemed themselves a bit at the end, but it wasn't great. Not a total waste of time, but you can do better. Maybe if there were more to the story and the characters were developed a bit more, I might have liked it better.

Saints on the Scottish islands

Sounds fascinating till the weather turns nasty and our hero's go out on a small boat then it all turns strange and the saints they are looking for find them and stirs the romance.

So good I cried

For such a short story I was amazed at how quickly and in depth I was hauled into the story line and charecters.

Story telling at its best and narrated beautifully, I really did cry (I'm such a sap)
