Publisher's Summary

All Beau Montgomery, one of Charleston's most eligible bachelors, wants to do is build boats. He has no interest in marriage whatsoever...until it means he might not get his inheritance and he can kiss his boat-building dreams good-bye. But the hungry hordes of Charleston debutantes looking to score a Montgomery scare him shitless.

Gwen has loved Beau Montgomery since she used to run barefoot around the marina as a scrappy preteen tomboy. Knowing she'll never fit into his high-society family, she decided long ago she'd become his indispensable best friend rather than not be in his life at all. When he tells her he needs to marry in order to fulfill his dreams, she panics that he might actually meet someone, and she'll lose him forever.

Fun Story, A Bit Too Drawn Out

A slow slow burn romance, moments when I really wanted to shake Beau or encourage Gwen to do so.

Beau must get married in order to gain his inheritance. He can think of no one he could stand to be married to other than his best friend, Gwen. Gwen has been secretly in love with Beau for years, so when he asks her to marry him, it seems like it could be an answer to both their problems. She says no, as she wants Beau to love her for real.

Liked the characters, but Beau seems a little clueless and bumbling. Pretty formulaic romance about best friends that end up in love I really enjoyed the palm to the face realizations.

Cute!

Yeah! Beau and Gwen's story! ❤ Friends to lovers trope with some funny and steamy scenes, but their level of denial made me facepalm a few times. Poor Eileen 😔🐕😬...

Loved ❤️

This story had me hanging on to every word to the point where I took longer routes and drove slow just so I could keep listening. The characters laid out perfectly and it felt so real that I felt like I was there. Could be because I live in Charleston and knew all the places that were talked about but I absolutely loved it! The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because sometimes the variation in character voices were a little less than superb. I highly recommend!

story drag on and ok story

This story was okay but felt drag on a bit. As I was writing this review, I had two hours left and the main characters still playing cat and mouse game. I got bored and kept wondering when these two would actually get together. Also, it was not believable that it took them twenty years?! They were at their thirties! I am not a writer but this was just a bit much. The main characters were very immature. I didn't even finish the story. For me, this is one time listen. If you like immature characters, this one is for you!

So Disappointing

I can't believe this is the same writer who wrote Accidental Tryst. Very blah beginning. The 2 star performance was all for the female narrator. I wasn't even able to get past the first couple chapters so I have no idea about how well the guy narrates. very sad.

Okay

Story was okay, but way too much Blasphemy and way too much use of the F word. Not a lot of character growth and chemistry.

Nooo interaction between the two main characters

90% of the book is spent either on their inner thoughts or talking to their friends or family about each other. At no point do the main characters develop a romance between the two of besides in their heads. Whyyy can't the "hero" start his business without the inheritance, everyone has??? He's not really endearing, and only seems to develop a sexual attraction to Gwen once he finds out he has to get get married; which is not the same as falling in love with her. This story was just all over the place. Everyone in town told both of them that they knew the other had feelings but neither of them could just ask???

Beau & Gwen

*****SPOILER ALERT*****

Audible Plus review. Dual POV. Standalone, book 2 of 2 in the Charleston duet. Cute cover. Both narrators do a good job even though Trystan doesn't have a British accent in this story. Best friends to wedded bliss. This story is as unbelievable as book 1. The surprise wedding pushed it over the top though. Trigger warnings: Beau's grandfather died; Gwen's mom died; scheming friends and family members.

Beau Montgomery (31) is the owner of a 3 legged dog named Eileen. He dreams of building boats and buying Gwen's father's business when his grandfather dies leaving him properties with a marriage stipulation. Gwendolyn Grace Thomas (aka Gwen/Gracie) grew up watching her father build boats and then became best friends with Beau who learned the craft under her father. She now sells boats for someone else even though her father wanted her to run his business, she wasn't interested. She's older than Beau (I don't remember reading a specific age) and has been in love with him since they were teenagers. When Gwen's father sells his business he upsets everything. The problem is it was Beau's grandmother that purchased the business. Beau asks Gwen to marry him not realizing she's in love with him or that he's in love with her so she turns him down. She's been periodically sleeping with a soldier and Beau has been sleeping with everyone. Gwen and her friends decide to help Beau find a bride so he can get a loan to buy Gwen's dad's tools. They find a female lieutenant looking to marry to move into a larger base house with her disabled brother who will marry Beau by proxy. Luckily she calls the marriage off first. In the end Gwen and Beau are married when Gwen surprises him with a wedding & Beau's grandmother allows them to stay in Gwen's father's current business location. JP

I liked this book. Recommended.

After listening to this book, which I enjoyed bothe the story and the narration, I'm really happy that I egnored all the negative reviews and read it.
It is a sweet love story and easy reading. The pace is very good. The narration, of both male and female, fits perfectly - good casting.
Recommended.

Cute quick story

The story was cute and easy going. Typical of Natasha Boyd stories, intersecting with other audio book stories.
Melisa Moran did an incredible job as narrator. However, Dake Bliss, I’m my opinion was horrible. Who was directing this? Overall, a good listen,

good story, poor performance

I really struggled to tell the difference between the voices for both characters when each voice actor was reading their counterparts.
to the point where I had to rewind several times to understand what was going on

Good story

Eventhough the idea of a marriage stipulation in a will is not a very original idea, I liked how this story played out.

Good book

Lovely follow story from Accidental Tyrist - I listened straight after finishing the first book.
I thought Dake the narrator did a better Tristan British voice than in the original book!
O lovely story some what predictable but enjoyable nonetheless.
The author does need to find a thesaurus I think she used ‘Incredulous’ about 17 times

heartwarming

this was such a light heart ready about 2 best friend who don't see what's right in front of them. I loved how real they where and how honest they where and that family isn't always right but we value their opinion too definitely recommend

Not what I expected

The story isn't what the summary description describes. I was expecting the cliche fake marriage trope, and I enjoy those. Perhaps that's why when it wasn't this storyline, I was confused and got bored. It's more a friends to lovers trope, and contrary to the description it was actually Gracie/Gwen who kept pushing him away, and I found it repetitive, especially when I had gotten over half way through and realised not much had changed. I didn't finish it, but I guess it is an easy listen

a lightweight listen

A non challenging story that's ok if you're busy doing something else. I found the male narrator a bit slow so his chapters were a bit tedious. A very predictable HEA. I would not have wanted to buy it but ok as it was included in the subscription

Boring, predictable, boring

Don't waste your time! Boring, throughly predictable and quite a juvenile story line! Glad I didn't waste a credit.

Great story disappointing narration

I really loved the story and that you got little updates about the characters in the previous story. But the worst thing is it’s a book set in the south and the main characters are born and raised in the south. The narrators don’t speak in a southern accent or have any southern sayings which I really love listening to. So it was a constant disappointment throughout the whole book. I’d listen again if they re-recorded it. Definitely some more thought should’ve gone into this before recording 👎🏽

Good read with real reactions and actions. Good romance that had me staying up late.
