Story
In Any Means Necessary, nuclear waste is stolen by jihadists in the middle of the night from an unguarded New York City hospital. The police, in a frantic race against time, call in the FBI. Luke Stone, head of an elite, secretive, department within the FBI, is the only man they can turn to. Luke realizes right away that the terrorists’ aim is to create a dirty bomb, that they seek a high-value target, and that they will hit it within 48 hours. A cat and mouse chase follows, pitting the world’s most savvy government agents versus its most sophisticated terrorists. As Agent Stone peels back layer after layer, he soon realizes he is up against a vast conspiracy, and that the target is even more high value than he could have imagined—leading all the way to the President of the United States. In Oath of Office, a biological agent is stolen from a biocontainment lab. Weaponized, it could kill millions, and a desperate national hunt ensues to catch the terrorists before it is too late. Luke Stone, head of an elite FBI department, with his own family still in jeopardy, has vowed to walk away—but when the new President, barely sworn in, calls him, he can’t turn his back on her.

We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Publisher's Summary
Dewey Andreas, former Delta and current intelligence agent, is sidelined. Still drowning in grief after the tragic murder of his fiancee, Dewey has seemingly lost his focus, his edge, and the confidence of his superiors. A high-level Russian hacker, known only as Cloud, is believed to be behind a series of major terror operations, and the mission is to capture and render Cloud harmless. At the same time, a backup team is sent after the only known associate of Cloud, a ballerina believed to be his girlfriend. Unwilling to sit out the mission as ordered, Dewey defies his superiors and goes rogue, surreptitiously following and tracking the two teams. What should be a pair of simple snatch-and-grab operations goes horribly wrong - both teams are ambushed and wiped out. Only through the unexpected intervention of Dewey is the backup operation salvaged. Cloud's girlfriend reveals a shocking secret - a plot so audacious and deadly that the masterminds behind it would risk anything and kill anybody to prevent its exposure. It's a plot that, in less than three days, will completely remake the world's political landscape and put at risk every single person in the Western world. On the run, with no backup and with only three days left, Dewey Andreas must unravel and stop this plot or see everything destroyed. A plot that goes live on July Fourth - Independence Day.

Worth waiting almost a year for! Most Excellent 5*s
What other book might you compare Independence Day to and why?
The other Dewey Andreas books! Ben Coes is on par with Brad Thor, Mark Greaney and other well known authors of the same genre.
Any additional comments?
This was such a good book. I've been waiting for it to come out on Audible and checking for it since it came out almost a year ago. It was worth the wait! This had action packed tension from beginning to end. Peter Hermann did a great job narrating, using different tones and inflections so characters are easily distinguishable. The story itself is plausible even if Dewey himself would have to be 1/2 Superman to survive some of the stunts described but hey - this is Dewey Andreas!! The story itself involves a genius computer hacker, his ballerina girlfriend, a nuclear bomb and Dewey. I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but can you guess who wins?
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED...

awesome book. I didn't think I'd find another series after Vince Flynn's much too early death that I looked forward to like a Mitch Rapp book, but this series is turning into a series of books that anyone who loves political thrillers has to listen to. just awesome.

Dewey Andreas is Finally Back!
I've been waiting with a fiery anticipation for the release of Independence Day; I'm pleased to announce that I was not disappointed.
Independence Day is a familiar tale of jihadists on a mission to explode a nuclear bomb on American soil that would rival the devastation of 911. The downside of being a fan of this genre is repeatedly reading some variation of this plot - which is why I couldn't give the story 5 stars. Despite it's lack of originality, I was thoroughly entertained from start to finish.
We see a slightly different, vulnerable Dewey on the surface as he's still very much grieving the tragic loss of his fiance. But it is evident that he's still same fearless avenger at his core. Ben Coes has a knack for taking the time to set the stage and build the tension while slowly reeling you in and then suddenly without any warning you find yourself on a wild ride with Dewey Andreas at the wheel and there's no road map or traffic signs. It's really quite exhilarating.
Mr. Coes is also a master at mercilessly putting his hero through the ringer. At times, it seems that Dewey survives - thrives, actually - just from the sheer force of will. He is at his best when his back is against the wall with nothing to rely on except pure instinct and the axioms that were undoubtedly ingrained in him during his military training.
As always, Peter Hermann does a great job narrating. He has a great voice for this genre, his accents are pretty good and he's a great actor. No complaints here.
Happy reading!

Dewey Andras is back!!
With Ben Coes continuing to work his regular job he did not release Independence Day until 22 months after Eye for an Eye. That's a long time to wait for the next book in the wonderful Dewey Andras series. Independence Day, the fifth book in the series, does not disappoint. For those who have not read any of the 5 Andras books, start with the first (Power Down) and read them in order; you are in for a treat. Every book is excellent!
Peter Hermann is a good narrator and does a fine job.

Unnecessarily Unrealistic
I hate it when authors put characters through unrealistic situations to try and jack up the suspense. In this case it does nothing to enhance the story and it leaves me shaking my head. For instance, in the span of a week the main character suffers not one but two concussions, gets the snot beat out of him, mangles his knee that requires self surgery, suffers extensive blood loss, etc. and yet he's able to sprint, jump across rooms, hit long distance targets, etc.
By the end of the story I was rooting for the bad guys to win just b/c Dewew Andreas was portrayed with supernatural abilities.
