Story
In the mid-1990s, a clandestine group of high-ranking churchmen began gathering in St. Gallen, Switzerland. Opposed to Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, the circle plotted a revolution in stealth. By 2015, their secret ached to be told. Before an audience, Cardinal Godfried Danneels joked of being a part of a "mafia." But as explosive as Danneels's confession was, a thick cloud of mystery still enshrouds the St. Gallen mafia.

Nearly 40 years ago, Ralph Martin's best-selling A Crisis of Truth exposed the damaging trends in Catholic teaching and preaching that, combined with attacks from secular society, threatened the mission and life of the Catholic Church. While much has been done to counter false teaching over the last four decades, today the church faces even more insidious threats from outside and within. In A Church in Crisis: Pathways Forward, Martin offers a detailed look at the growing hostility to the Catholic Church and its teaching.

Angels and saints. Catholics tend to think of them as different from the rest of us. They're cast in plaster or simpering on a holy card, performing miracles with superhero strength, or playing a harp in highest heaven.
Yet they are very near to us in every way. In this lively audiobook, Scott Hahn dispels the false notions and urban legends people use to keep the saints at a safe distance. The truth is that Jesus Christ has united heaven and earth in a close communion. Drawing deeply from Scripture, Dr. Hahn shows that the hosts of heaven surround the earthly Church as a "great cloud of witnesses".

Of all things Catholic, there is nothing that is so familiar as the Mass. With its unchanging prayers, the Mass fits Catholics like their favorite clothes. Yet most Catholics sitting in the pews on Sundays fail to see the powerful supernatural drama that enfolds them. Pope John Paul II described the Mass as "Heaven on Earth," explaining that what "we celebrate on Earth is a mysterious participation in the heavenly liturgy."

But the paper book.

Publisher's Summary
It took nearly two millennia for the enemies of the Catholic Church to realize they could not successfully attack the Church from the outside. Indeed, countless nemeses from Nero to Napoleon succeeded only in creating sympathy and martyrs for our Catholic Faith.
That all changed in the mid-19th century, when clandestine societies populated by Modernists and Marxists hatched a plan to subvert the Catholic Church from within. Their goal: to change Her doctrine, Her liturgy, and Her mission.
In this captivating and carefully documented book, Dr. Taylor Marshall pulls back the curtain on their nefarious plan, showing how these enemies of Christ strategically infiltrated the seminaries, then the priesthood, then the episcopacy, and eventually the cardinal-electors all with the eventual goal of electing one of their own as pope.
You'll come to see that the seemingly endless scandals plaguing the Church are not the result, as so many think, of cultural changes, or of Vatican II, but rather the natural consequences of an orchestrated demonic plot to destroy the Church.
In this gripping audio, you ll discover:
- How popes of the 1800s discovered a plot to infiltrate the Church
- How theologians suspected of being Modernists became Vatican powerbrokers.
- How modifications in Catholic canon law enabled predator priests like Theodore McCarrick to stay in positions of power.
- How Our Lady of La Salette gave a prophetic warning of the plot to infiltrate the Church.
- How the chief architect of liturgical reforms was discovered to be a Freemason.
- Archbishop Fulton Sheen s role in exposing the Communist infiltration of the priesthood.
- How the confusing history of the Third Secret of Fatima relates to the infiltration of the Catholic Church.
- That Pope Paul VI explained that Vatican II was not infallible.
- How Pope Paul VI revoked the voting rights of cardinals over 80, thus guaranteeing that all voting cardinals were appointed by him.
- How the criteria for sainthood shifted from a person s historical acts to his personal beliefs.
- The complex roots of the St. Gallen Mafia and how they plotted to modify Catholic doctrine and elect Pope Francis.

Narration leaves something to be desired
Dr Taylor Marshall’s book is full of content and obviously he took great pains to research all of it. I appreciate knowing the backstory on V2 and found myself sighing deeply every so often in frustration with Paul VI. The narrator however could have been much better. In fact, Dr Marshall should have read it himself. She awkwardly tries to pronounce foreign words and speak in an accent, and butchers and mispronounces many proper names and Latin names of encyclicals that I am already familiar with. Westminister? I don’t think so. Gives the impression she didn’t read it through at least once before reading to record. I will probably buy a hard copy so that I can go back and read key portions as I won’t listen to this again. It’s worth an Audible purchase for the valuable content however the problem with narration is distracting.

Overwrought
The first half of the book seems like a stringing together of conspiracy theories which the author hopes to connect by means of a thin red thread. More than that, much of the arch-conspiracy theory relies on weak sources. The final picture is completely overwrought. However, I think the author's conclusion is totally correct. Save your time: read the last two chapters and forget the rest.

if you are wondering about the scandals
if you were wondering about the scandals in the Catholic church, this is the place to get a good run down.
the author, Dr. Taylor Marshall, is a convert from the Episcopal Church, where he served as a priest. he has particular study in natural law and Thomism.
the book does exactly what the title implies. it identifies the methodical and intentional infiltration of the Catholic Church by different groups and interests since the 19th century.
the book is very well-researched, dispels a number of myths commonly held by the faithful, and reinforces a more true understanding of the events that have brought the Catholic Church to the current scandal-ridden state which it finds itself.
the reader, Peggy Normandin, may be familiar to many in Catholic media circles. she does an excellent job with the exception of a few mispronunciations of proper names that seems to bore into the back but my head when they were mentioned.
I have finished listening to this book over the course of 2 days. I just wanted to keep listening to find out more throughout the course of my listening sessions.
I have also bought the Kindle version because I wanted to be able to look at the citations and the pages on my own, as well as reference them for other things I may write.

Tragically Disappointing
What could have been a beautiful book written by a Catholic intellectual and focused on actual historical facts ends up fatally wounded by reckless speculation that is so obviously biased towards proving a point that it comes off as more of an InfoWars parody than a serious work by a Thomist that has a doctorate in philosophy.

Important Story to absorb, but.....with caveats
Dr Taylor Marshall obviously did not coach the narrator to pronunciations. It took this listener a long time to understand that the narrator's pronunciation of "Vee - Gann' - Yo" was actually referring to Cardinal Vigano ---Vi' gahno --emphasis on the first syllable instead of the second. This was just one example. Not holding this against the narrator, she did a great job with all the latin and Italian; I do wonder if Marshall reviewed / listened to the narration as Vigano plays a very VERY important part of the story.
Also, I have to question a Dr. Marshall, PhD using "Newsy.com" as an honest news source for Pope Benedict's dealing with the Vatican Bank. I would have felt much better (as a cradle Catholic, willing to listen) if the sources had been more along the lines of Financial Times, BBC, or other, independent, International News organizations.
Many good ties to an infiltration of the church by bad actors; unfortunately the book reads like a news tabloid sitting at the grocery counter. I know the stuff is salacious, but I would have rather had straight journalistic writing and bonafide quoted sources, letting the work speak for itself, rather than including bad actor's nicknames like "Gorrilla" and " Nelly." Even if they were commonly known nicknames, the use of such "inside baseball" denigrates the level of how serious the allegations really are inside this beloved Catholic Church.
The alleged stories being somewhat salacious, which sells books but does not permit the work to stand by itself in academic circles, leaving holes to be punched into the premisese of bad actors inside the Church.
Beware of many allegations -- of "alleged" actions and actors. Maybe there are more explanatory footnotes in the actual book. But the salacious deets seem to be sprinkled in more than generously. I do not doubt the same sex relationships which exist within the Church; after all I've seen their destructive forces with my own eyes. But a careful study of such - with more hard core facts and/or quotes by those in the Church who saw and heard and experienced the same.
I do wonder about the pridefulness of the author masquerading as academic research. He must remain humble in his approach, especially with "preaching" to cradle Catholics who have been wrestling with Vatican 2 for 50 years. This author, recall, is a convert from the Protestant Church (as an former anglican pastor). So to "pick on" the church with allegations written within this tome sort of begs the question about his conversion. Is he selecting to crucify the Catholic Church because of his past?
I'm just challenging the author to bring true academic research to the table and leave the salacious allegations to Hollywood (read: Dan Brown) and grocery store tabloids. Towards the final chapters, the author unleashes more and more irritation at the current Novus Ordo Catholic Church, and I must write that this is done without much love or charity towards those who are sincere about their faith.
A serious, devout approach would help, but not sell as many copies, especially in tying the messages of Fatima and Equito (sp?) Equador to the acts of the shady characters presented in this book. Be not too quick to point out allegations and spin them into conspiracy. A good start but more work must be done by serious, academic and informed Catholics.

Problems I found
The first problem I found was when the book started to be narrated by a woman. Oh bummer! What a disappointment. The foreword is by Bishop Schneider, a man, and Taylor Marshall is also a man. I do not know the reason why a woman was chosen to read the book, but I found it very annoying all the way to the end. I think it should have been narrated by a man. The second problem I found was when he talks about Alistair Crowley, the author is over descriptive about the sexual activities of the Satanists ant this is very disturbing. The author did not need to go into such detail to make the case for the wickedness of these men or their possible conexion to McCarrick. There are certain things that can not be unheard and one does really not need to hear in order to understand the point he is making.

Talk about fiction
Dr. Taylor does not present a factual depiction of the Roman Catholic Church. He may have been Catholic at one time but he is admittedly SSPX now, a group that is anti-Catholic. Anyone reading this book should remember that it is mostly fiction presented as non-fiction. One should research for themselves and not depend on this information as thr true Roman Catholic Church.

Pronunciation is Important
I just wish the reader had been given some better information on how to pronounce the terminology and names in this book because for the most part they were pronounced incorrectly or utterly butchered. In the case of the Latin it was clearly the Protestant intellectual pronunciation instead of proper Catholic ecclesiastical pronunciation, which would make more sense considering this is a Catholic book.

This book clearly explains that the Church is not falling apart, it is been disassembeled with Demonic genius. However, in the end Mary's Immaculate Heart will Triumph and what a joyeous day that will be.

Simply a must read!
This book is a absolute mind blower. Every Catholic should read this powerful documentation of the true events that lead up to the Second Vatican Council and how our Holy Catholic church has been infiltrated by the freemasons. The truth must be exposed, buy it and recommend it to as many people as possible. Dr Taylor Marshall is an amazing author and in this book has been lit up by the Holy Spirit. Engaging from the first word right through to the last.

This is mandatory reading for any Catholic that is confused about the diabolical disorientation within the Church.

Great book but let down by the reader
Great book by Taylor Marshall. Unfortunately Peggy Normandin fails on several counts: her unnecessary and silly accents on every person that she quotes makes it difficult to take the book seriously at times. In addition she is unable to pronounce simple things correctly (“Westminister?”) Luckily Marshall’s scholarly tone shines through.

Staunch.
Dr. Taylor Marshall pulls no punches with this book. He lists all the errors that modernism has caused within the Church. Any Catholic that is engaged and devout in their faith would have had their head in the sand if they deny the current crisis. Dr. Taylor Marshall also gives ways on way on how we should fix the problems. A great book. God bless you Dr. Taylor Marshall.

was ok
I had no real problem understanding some of this book as I had previously read them politically incorrect guide to Catholicism. I enjoyed the historical background of the the church and the unpacking of Vatican politics. very interesting.

Fascinating
Enjoyed the book. Certainly prophetic when you look at modern society and it’s promotion and encouragement of deviance and the eco-socialist agenda of the Church of the New Advent.

MIND BLOWINGLY GOOD
Do you want to know why the Catholic Church is in such a mess? Well, here it is, well almost! He tells you it's a Masonic conspiracy but leaves out who's behind Kabbablistic Freemasonry. Probably out of fear of censorship which I understand.
P.s. The narrator gets every chapter number wrong "Chapter 2" when it's Chapter 1 and "Chapter 3" when it's Chapter 2 and so on and so on.

Don't jump out of the boat
Message is to stay loyal to the church. The Jacque Maritain info was unsettling. Thank goodness we have the latin rite back thanks to Benedict.

Good Material, Poor Delivery
While the material is very good, the reader should have learnt how to pronounce proper names like "Lefebvre" and "Vigano," Latin words like "Aetate" and common nouns like "sovereignty" and "governate." At first I treated these as minor blemishes, but each time she mispronounced, I winced.

Interesting, how thought provoking read
Good book. Explained the miracles of Fatima and today’s church well.
It left me feeling that a sound catechesis for young children is vitally important (similar feeling after reading Ben Shapiro’s the right side of history). The destruction by the socialists/communists/fascists/free masons of the nuclear family is a grave disservice to all western civilisations and an attack on liberty and the true meaning of social justice.
