Publisher's Summary

Regan O’Riley has just about given up hope that she will ever find a woman into shy, geeky programmers. She yearns for a connection, but can't seem to make the first move. Mel Raines knows all about making moves. After a childhood under the thumb of her alcoholic father, she avoids intimacy by drowning herself in fiery, fleeting encounters with strangers. When Regan and Mel meet in a straight bar, of all places, their chemistry is unmistakable. Before they can begin to explore their new relationship, Mel’s world is rocked when a close friend is a victim in a shooting. Regan suggests they take a road trip to escape reality for a little while, and Mel is only too ready to shake things up. Together they embark upon a physical and emotional journey where they discover that breaking free of old habits may be the only way to change your life.

WORTH EVERY MINUTE

What made the experience of listening to Infinite Loop the most enjoyable?

Not only is it eloquently written, but the story is beautiful. Too often, books with lesbian protagonists are clique, tragic, or heartbreaking: "Infinite Loop" shatters this notion. It is cheesy at times, but I enjoyed every moment. It's a modern love story you don't want to miss.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Infinite Loop?

The characterization is remarkable, and the sex is epic.

Any additional comments?

I am officially giving this book to anyone who asks me how two women can fall in love.. or the all to often question, how two women can have sex.

Despite These Problems

This is the third Meghan O'Brien novel I've purchased from Audible; and the weakest. There are far too many long poignant declarations of love. Both of the protagonists prattle on these endless declarations of self deprecation; making statements that proclaim "I'm not worthy; I'm not worthy. Then there the long detailed play-by-play renditions of rather Vanilla sexual encounters that do little to move the story forward. So I hated it right?
Wait (you just checked my rating) how is I gave this book I hated 4 out of 5 stars? Because Meghan O'Brien did an absolutely great job of creating two likable yet human leading ladies that you have no trouble getting behind and pulling for. The brief snatches of back-story the author supplies are an excellent for providing context into the characters. Their interactions with friends and family likewise offer insight into who Mel and Regan are and how it influences the people they became. The relationship between Regan and her straight friend Adam is a particularly good one.
So though there are plenty of flaws in this narrative; it is still a good story with plenty of sympathetic likable characters. Worth the credit.

Infinite Loop

The story was okay, I did not enjoy it as much partly due to there not being any major action or danger or deceit. I felt it was a slow going story. Both of the main characters over came some emotional issues but there was no suspense. I enjoy a good love story with suspense or twisted conflicting issues. If you are in search of a love story that is easy going and has much love making then this is the story for you.

Unrealistic

Where do I start. I was drawn to the stories description of a geeky lesbian, I can relate to that. Regan is like me, a shy geeky gamer who gets dragged out to social investments that aren’t easy to be in. She gets picked up by Mel and “hit it off”. The story is taken place in less then two months and feels completely rushed. I think a lot of this could have taken place in a longer time. That way the roller coaster of I’m yours for ever then I’m not good enough not feel over done in such a short time. Yes lots of sex happens, one seen lost me with a simple word. Its got cute moments too. I actually am in the middle of changing jobs myself so It’s a stereo typical uhal lesbian cliché love story that only happens in stories. But the Geek gets her girl so I have to give some stars for that. Narrator did a good job. Not my favorite book but not the worst.

Unless you like to listen to sex, skip this book

What would have made Infinite Loop better?

Having a plot with some depth would have been nice.

What was most disappointing about Meghan O’Brien’s story?

Listening to the the two characters in this story sounded like "A trip cross country with your therapist." The dialogue seems to reveal replies that you learned at couples counseling or a parenting class...."Thank you for telling me that." "I know you will be excellent if you do that." etc. Does anyone really talk like that? Constantly?

How could the performance have been better?

Sorry I just did not care for the narrator. I thought she had very little depth and poor spacing between thoughts or comments.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

I really haven't even finished this book yet because it is so hard to listen to. Sometimes I just have to shut it off to stay sane.

Any additional comments?

If you are into hearing other women having sex, this is the book for you. It is very "real" and may stir up some emotions in the reader. And the premise of 2 women meeting and not hopping into bed together the first night is nice even though it may not be too realistic.

Best romance book ever!!

This is feel good story from the start. Two damaged and complex characters meet and have an immediate connection. The story will give you courage as these two adults confront their past’s straight on as adults. This romance may not be for everyone as it is about two women, but it is refreshing and very adult without the stupid break up that most romance novels have. I felt for the characters and the only sadness I felt was that the book ended. GREAT and highly recommended!!

Heartwarming novel.

Good novel and well written. Fun. Not always a page turner though. Narrator always fine.

OK but rather boring

Maybe I am being too harsh but I found the majority of this audiobook quite booring. I am not sure exactly why but I struggled to stay awake through some of the chapters which seemed more like padding than adding anything to the novel. The early geeky stuff was nice but a number of things, e.g. eating spaghetti off a plate, with a knife and fork - who does that, experiencing delicate sensation through a strap-on and some of the very unrealistic anal added up to become quite irritating. Maybe I found it dull because it was dated - the audiobook was produced in 2005 or 6. Maybe I kept falling asleep because both the writing style and the content became rather uninteresting about halfway through the audiobook. Certainly, the moral contained in the story, the infinite loop, seemed very simplistic and full of irritating, "pop psychology', worthiness. Added to that, the narrator's voice, although ok, did not have sufficient warmth or variety to add anything to the written word.

relationship

my twelfth Harper bliss book, and best yet. a description of how you should treat your partner, and how they should treat you, with the power of communication trust loyalty love and more. I related with good and bad parenting, fear, anxiety, loneliness and more. touched deep to my soul for I never gave enough to one partner or received from another. beautifully written as always and excellently narrated by Eva.

Not for me

And I am addicted to audio books.
There is better to choose from, much better. Try Sarah Waters or Kristen Zimmer....
