Publisher's Summary

Following Adrenaline, The Last Minute, and Downfall, Jeff Abbott returns with the next riveting novel in the award-winning New York Times best-selling Sam Capra series.

Sam Capra's friend Steve has been murdered, shot dead in the rain outside of his Miami bar. The only lead: A mysterious, beautiful stranger Steve tried to protect. To avenge his friend, Sam goes undercover into the Varelas, one of Miami's most prominent and dangerous families.

Now on the inside, playing a part where one wrong move means death, Sam faces a powerful, unstable tycoon intent on dividing his business empire between his three very different children, who each may hold murderous secrets of their own.

Sam is relentlessly drawn into this family's intense drama, amplifying painful echoes of his own shattered relationships as a son, brother, father, and husband. And just when he thinks he understands why the family is self-destructing, he discovers a lethal secret so shocking that the Varelas cannot let him walk away alive...

Wow, another great Sam Capra installment!

Fast past, action packed. This is better than the last book and great cliff hanger to leave you wanting more. Can't wait for the next one.

Convoluted

Impossible scenarios with Sam surviving every time. I expected more from Jeff Abbot and while some of it was entertaining I had to fast forward to the last chapters.

Didn't finish :(

I loved adrenaline and previous books by this author but I've struggled with the last two Sam Capra books. I haven't felt connected to the ancillary characters driving the story mother are one dimensional just to drive plot. And Sams whiny "I'm out of the life routine" has worn thin. Hoping to enjoy future novels by Abbott but I think I'm done with this series.

Disappointing

Reads like a teenage thriller with a reader that tries hard but has a voice that sounds like a teenager. It makes the book difficult to take seriously.
I struggled to the end even though I felt like giving up several times - the story tries to be a little too clever and the main character is portrayed both as an idiot and suddenly a brutal assassin. Even for fiction not a creditable character.
My first of this series and the last - from the reviews I had hoped for more!
