Publisher's Summary
Zombies, demons, vampires, shapeshifters - another day in the life of Nick Gautier - and those are just his friends. But now that he's accepted the demon that lives inside him, he must learn to control it and temper the very emotions that threaten the lives of everyone he cares for. Something that's hard to do while trying to stay off the menus of those who want his head on a platter. And no one wants him more than the dark gods who created his race.
Now that they know where he is, they will stop at nothing to reclaim him. And without knowing it, Nick has just embraced the one person he should never have trusted. The one person who will hand him over to his enemies to get back the life they lost.
Nick has finally accepted his fate; now he must learn to defy his destiny and the dark, deadly forces that will stop at nothing to destroy everyone he loves so they can again return to the world of man and own it.

Good Addition, Great Narration!
Nick is a poor fellow, feel bad for how things go for him all the time. This book felt more like a preparation for the net book, as important character development must happen. I do wonder how this series will go and how it will be, if it will be, connected to the other (future) world or what exactly.. Time travelling and changing the past is too complicated.
Good addition, funny as always, but I think the next one will be more important.

This series keeps getting better
If you could sum up Instinct in three words, what would they be?
Not quite three words but, coming of age as a demon lord.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Nick, obviously. He carries so much hope, so much hard-won goodness, against so much darkness. He's snarky. He's fun.
Which character – as performed by Holter Graham – was your favorite?
Simi. I love the voice he gives her.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. Darn work for getting in the way.
Any additional comments?
This series is very different from the Dark Hunters stuff. I never much cared for Dark Hunters -- more sex and men being tamed by the love of a woman than actual story -- but Chronicles of Nick is brilliant.

Good addition, development light.
I liked this addition to the series, but while a few interesting bits of the past are revealed I feel like this book didn't push the characters much. There was a few moments where they reiterated the views about bullying and not listening to gossip about others and trusting your true friends Thats a great message but they already did that in the second or third book. I was under the impression that Nick was supposed to learn a new lesson in each book. If so then he learned the same lesson twice in this book. Still a good book, just missing an element I expected from the experience of the other books.
That aside I will be getting the next book.

Mediocre Installment of an Excellent Series.
I am a huge fan of the Chronicles of Nick series but I think Ms. Kenyon phoned this one in. First, it's a short book. Second, there is very little progression of the story and third, there is very little interaction with most of my favorite characters. Holter Graham's narration is fabulous, as always but, otherwise, this was a disappointment to me.

What did you love best about Instinct?
I love this series and purchase each new audiobook as soon as it comes out as a pre-order. Kenyon has a surprising mix of action, intrigue, and humor in her series The Chronicles of Nick. Nick is a demon's son coming of age with all the awkward, scary, heart-warming moments of a teenager. Developing unexplainable demon-powers at exactly the wrong moment (like in the middle of class). Meeting the love of his life who happens to be on assignment to kill him. Becoming best friends with his demon-bodyguard who hates him. Discovering his father is a woman-raping-killer-demon. And dodging death on a weekly basis from beings he never even imagined existed, which incidentally his mama would kill him for if she found out. I cannot predict what will come next for Nick which makes me love it all the more.
Have you listened to any of Holter Graham’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Graham has done all of the Chronicles of Nick series. He is one of the best narrator's I've listened to (which is saying something). Graham makes it easy to follow who is talking and whether Nick is thinking or speaking out loud. He does an excellent job differentiating each character with a distinctive voice which matches their personality.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Nick has a sarcastic wit that literally makes me laugh out loud, often while in public when I realize people are glancing at me with no clue why I'm giggling to myself so I avert my eyes, tuck my hair behind my ear and try to make it obvious I've got earbuds in and listening to something funny. I get so caught up in these stories I forget where I'm at.

FANTASTIC SERIES! WELL WRITTEN & WELL NARRATED
I enjoyed this series very much. I thought it was going to be young adult so I took quite a while before listening to e first book ? After that I jusypt cannot stop. It was simply fantastic. I enjoyed all the books so much that I waiting anxiously for the next book ! Sherrilyn Kenyon is certainly a very talented writer and I love Holter Graham's performance for all the different character s in the story. I like that there is less sex and more concentration on the story. Truly marvellous!

Instinct : A Chronicles of Nick book .
This was a read continuation of this series in this book Nick has found some trusted allies and he also knows who's his most hated enemies are but i.I'm not sure who will remain true or who will become enemies in the struggle too come . We also learned about why and how Buck's birth came to be O can't say that I get everything but I can see what the Gods of light was going for but I also think that most of what's happened is partly their fault anyway looking forward to the next installment in this series .

Spellbinding
Ms. Kenyon stuns with her direct insights and mirthful view of the inner workings of the socially odd. Yes, this is a para action packed YA themed coming of age romance/save the world for those I love series, but it often speaks to the lost bits of ourselves that may have scabbed over from our youth only to have the wound reopen at inconvenient times. Ms. Kenyon's words remind us of our humanity, our strength, our will to go on despite the worst. Most of all, they remind us of our unique journey and the inate power we have to create change.
Oh, and the story is pretty awesome, too. ;)
