Really wrong choice of the reader

Although the information is great but the reader is putting me to sleep and it is not possible to listen to more than a few minutes at a time which makes me very stressed out and increases my cortisol. Isn’t this but and it’s information supposed to be reducing my cortisol level by finishing it and doing what it suggest. It’s a pity.
I will be returning it and aim for another book with not such low energy reading.

A maze of rules…

There are so many rules and guidelines in here that I feel like if I didn’t already know about and actively practice fasting, I would feel like I’d fail before I even began.

There is a lot of great info on the body’s positive and cautionary responses to fasting from a medical stand point and I appreciated hearing that info reiterated. However, I feel like this guide way too rule bound and restrictive in its methodology and the majority of women are not going to be able to follow through. Which is too bad, because there are so many benefits to fasting (including weight lose) without integrating all her recommendations.

I would recommend Gin Stephens’ books first for newbies, and this as a follow up if you’re still struggling to see scale and/or non-scale victories.

The narration is also a bit monotone, made me a little sleepy.

Great Information! Concise

I have learned so much from Cynthia Thurlow! I never miss her podcast and I eagerly anticipated this book. It certainly delivers! Full of great information that I (a perimenopausal intermittent faster) will certainly implement. Am planning on purchasing a hard copy for my daughter as I think she could really benefit from this information.

My only criticism is the narration. Cynthia’s conversational voice is fine but she reads with a monotonous cadence and limited inflection. This distracts from the content and makes it difficult to interpret sentences and absorb the information easily. Especially with material as dense as this.

Overall I’m very pleased with this purchase and am thrilled to be armed with this information. Thank you, Cynthia!

Hard to Pay Attention

Very medical, tedious information. Thank goodness I understood most of it. Not really suited to audio, need to take lots of notes.

Hardest part is the monotone reading. No personality.

Not for first time IF people.

Lots of good information

I found the narrator very monotonous, but I liked what she had to say and everything was explained in detail.

Performance Somewhat Robotic

This book offers amazing advice and guidance and I also purchase the hardcopy so I could go back and study some of the chapters. Loved the content and it’s well worth your time!

This audio book would have been more interesting if Cynthia had put more inflection and emotion into her voice. The narration was somewhat robotic and often difficult to pay attention due to the monotone delivery.

So hard to listen to!

The information seems amazing but I am having the hardest time listening to this book! So frustrating! The author reads her book in a severely monotone voice that makes me either go to sleep, or feel sick. Super bummed because I think her information is excellent!

Monotonous

This book may be an absolute gem but the monotonous delivery is enough to put you to sleep before you can take on any of the points made. With such a science heavy script, you need intonation and enthusiasm to deliver the message and not drown your audience in jargon and this was completely missing. I ended up having to turn it off and I've listened to several science heavy audiobooks, 'How Not to Die' included!! It's a shame! I probably would have let a professional narrator record it instead.
