Could have been great

I loved the premise, and the opening two settings, but the third was so poorly implemented I really struggled with it. Maybe it's me, because I never really read YA, especially in a military setting, or because of a childhood spent in cadets, but it was very difficult to believe someone so young and also so prone to stupid or pacifistic decisions would be a military leader. That broke it for me so I started seeing issues in the other settings, too. A shame, because I was really rooting for this one.
