Publisher's Summary

Visions of the war to come. Alliances on the open water. Sink or swim.

Zeke and the team are one step closer to their goals of defeating War’s generals and freeing Brindolla for good. Storm Company’s return from the Great Below was harrowing, nearly as bad as the time they had to spend there.

Though they bear the scars of their journey, it’s finally time to sniff out War’s generals wherever they might hide - including across the ocean in the mysterious continent of beasts.

Plots thicken like the clouds over the water, and the group begins to realize the currents and intrigue they will have to navigate successfully if they want to survive sailing into the storm.

Just too much

I love d&d character building and I was really loving the story so far but at this point (book 5 and all) I was expecting anything else that wasn't more character building and especially even more introduction to new character. this far into the story i wanted the character that I love to shine but I could even get past the beginning of this book because is all about new characters I couldn't even begin to care for. Not because they are necessarily bad but because there way to many at this point, each one with so much information (story skill, stc) that it's getting really hard to track. making everything feel like a mess or to diluted

my problem is the same as the last book

one is that orc lady Verne or something like that. I feel like she forced herself in a relationship with the MC. I believe he cares for her but he loves his wife and even if she is kind of forcing the Oracle lady into the relationship. the second thing is that I think he's more powerful than he realizes and he doesn't use all his magic that he should at times

Again, an amazing intense tale of zeek and company

I absolutely adore this amazing tale of zeek and friends on their journey to defeat war and his generals. I cannot wait for the next book. I waited so long for these last 2. I cannot wait to see what comes next and how. well without spoiling it what occurs next! Christopher brother if you are reading this thank you for sharing this amazing tale from one veteran to another. Thank you I cannot wait for the next book!

I want more!

Great continuation as usual. Ended sooner than I expected but only because I wanted more. BJ Harrison did a great narration as well.

Pretty Good some spoilers at the end

I only have 1 real complaint and that's the talks about going back to earth. Zeke has told may multiple times about his son and she has taken an interest in him so it's clear that if zeke decided to stay and only wished his son come to him then he would totally have a better upbringing than earth could ever provide like he's a literal king, loved and blessed by every element. There is no way there's a happily ever after if he gets zapped back to earth because what's he got to go back to besides his son? A job at a gym? Unless the gods wipe his memories of his time in another world or make it seem like it was all a dream there isn't really a happy ending knowing he left a Fay queen who he taught the meaning of love, a orc who found someone who wouldn't hate her just because she's an orc, and every other character that they have helped along the way. It just drags the story down to talk about him definitely wanting to go back to earth when it would just be a bad ending to leave us with. Other than that the next book is shaping up to be good he's lost his magic and his brothers maybe it's the arc where he truly becomes a primal druid I look forward to it.

Major changes and escalations in the series

The overall arc of the series continues to drive these books forward, but this focus resulting in the pacing of the individual books being very good and this one is no exception as the main cast head out onto the next stage of their mission.

This instalment shows some interesting escalations on the part of the opposition in response to the successes the team has had against War's minions in previous books and the mission has become significantly more difficult even before the dramatic ending to this book.

The narration of this instalment was up to the usual high standard of the series, with the narrator clearly being comfortable with this cast of characters.

Overall, while I enjoyed this book, the cliffhanger of an ending and the next one not being out yet was a little annoying.
