Kelly & Ashlynn

Kelly McCullough is the bachelor of the family. He has no intentions of getting married, he is not good enough for anyone. A playboy by reputation, he enjoys his single life. When a friend of his begins to date Ashlynn, the town virgin, Kelly begins to show an interest in her. Ashlynn has had a crush on Kelly for years. He is the one that showed her compassion in high school, but she never thought he really noticed her. Now the two are pulled together by an impossible thread, and Kelly is in for the pursuit of his life. Will be be able to win over Ashlynn? We he be able to give up his promiscuous ways? Ashlynn is strong in her beliefs, and I love her conviction to remain true to herself. She loves with her whole heart and faces her insecurities head on. Kelly may seem secure in who he is, but it's Ashlynn who is able to see his lack of confidence and build him up to the man he truly is. Plus we get to see all of the McCullough family, which in itself is a treat. Their craziness, witty banter and true family feel make this series very special and a pleasure to listen to.

There is nothing better than a perfectly cast narrator telling us a story, and David Allen Vargo is just that. He is fantastic, bringing each character, male and female to life. I love how he tunes into each personality, uses his Irish accent and breathes life into story. And the use of sound effects at the most appropriate times gives us a very visual picture what is happening. He does not overuse the effects, so they are not distracting, but an enhancement, creating a movie in our minds. He is fantastic!

Wonderful Story & Narration🎧 Gripping & Heartfelt

Lydia Michaels continues to wow me with another amazing novel set in her McCullough Mountain series, each book in the series features a different member of the McCullough family as the lead character and stands on its own. Family members crossover and appear in each other’s books, but the descriptive details include everything you need to know about them, though if you have had the pleasure to read and/or listen to their book, it is like seeing an old friend again. This book is Kelly McCullough and Ashlynn Fisher’s story and what a story it is, Lydia Michaels put them through the wringer and then some. Their story not only captivated my attention, but it tugged on my heartstrings throughout the entire book. Ashlynn was never part of the “in” crowd in school, she was the quiet, shy girl who stayed in the background, but that did not stop her from crushing on Kelly, who was definitely part of the “in” crowd. He was actually kind to her, and she never forgot that. Ashlynn, the only daughter of a widowed farmer, grew up sheltered and she kept her virtue all the way into her twenties, saving herself for marriage. But she is busy now running her own business and has never dated or even kissed a boy or a man. Kelly has always been a player and running his own bar gives him ample opportunity to play with anyone who wants him and there is no shortage of woman who want him.It surprised him to see Ashlynn come into the bar, even more surprised she shows up another time for a date and he feels something he never felt before, which may be jealousy or possessiveness. Ashlynn does not know what to think since he never really paid her any mind, but it is the start of them getting to know each other. She finds out about his insecurities and he finds out about hers. The two are opposites in many ways, but similar in other ways, especially in their loneliness and for him his self worth. There is never a dull moment in this book, it is a beautifully written, told and plotted story with plenty of drama, heartfelt emotions that pours off the pages and straight into your heart. Lydia Michaels made these characters work for their romance and happily every after. Thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧 📚🎧 And for the amazing narration, Lydia Michaels could not have cast a better narrator to bring her characters and story to life. David Allen Vargo is a wonderfully talented narrator and a versatile character. He took each role and made it his own and was fabulous covering both the male and female roles, giving each their own distinct voice, making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. Vargo had a complete understanding of the characters he portrayed and was believable in every role he played. You could hear how much heart he put into his work as he captured the characters’ emotions and projected them into his performance and had you feeling every single one. David Allen Vargo is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this fabulous listen.

Fantastic! All the feels!

Kelly McCullough’s quite the ladies man and that suits him just fine! He’s not ready to settle down and he’ll be the first one to admit he’s just not marriage material! At least that’s what he tells himself. Ashlynn Fisher has loved Kelly since grade school, but she’s an innocent and totally inexperienced in the ways of love. She certainly NOT the type Kelly would choose to settle down with! At least that’s what she tells herself! Irish Rogue is a brilliantly written, fantastically narrated, perfectly balanced masterpiece centered around the McCullough family. The plot is loaded with a few “sub plots” in addition to the main event, but no worries, all is well explained, clear, and everything moves along with a smooth even flow. There are the more serious, darker moments that real couples and real families face, and a nice amount of angst tossed in as well! There are also lighter moments that are brilliantly laugh out loud funny! The McCullough family characters had me in hysterics. They are so well developed! They remind me of the old neighborhood! Irish Rogue is one hundred percent guaranteed to make you mad, make you cry, make you swoon, make you laugh, and pull out all the feels. I loved it! Five stars!

Exhilarating

When true love strikes no one stands a chance, not even the dashing and virile Kelly McCullough who just happens to be every woman’s dream man. Ashlynn Fisher is the virtuous and shy woman who captures Kelly’s attention and then the fun begins. Mix in some intriguing plot twists and a down-to-earth family.

The author, Lydia Michaels, weaves a romantic story that reflects an experience every woman has had from her first kiss to her dream crush to her dream life. Realistic in dialogue and character development, Michaels captures the attention of her listeners and keeps them engaged.

The narrator, David Allen Vargo, voices this romantic action-filled story with his resonating voice whether he is performing Kelly or Ashlynn or another character. Vargo captures and projects each character’s personality and emotions wonderfully. Vargo keeps the story moving at a steady and consistent pace. Further, he keeps the exhilaration between the main characters flowing. I’m not sure how he was able to keep his performance even at the end when all I could do was laugh. A professional to the end!

This was an enjoyable book with something for everyone.

There were no issues with the production or quality of this audiobook.

Opposites Attract

This story was an opposites attract, romance. You have Kelly, the town playboy and Ashlynn, the town virgin who's never been kissed (this part was a little hard to believe).

Overall, the story was enjoyable. I loved how Kelly changed his ways for the love of his life and all their struggles. I've loved the entire series so far, and I can't wait for the next book!

Story 5 stars - Performance was 3.5 stars

After the first two books, I couldn’t wait for book three. I absolutely LOVED this storyline. Loved it. This author just gained my complete respect. I will share with the author why, but do not want to give the story away here! No spoilers from me! Kelly and Ashlynn have a longer story fill with several obstacles. Infertility was just one issue. So much was unpacked in this one book. Heartbreaking and heartwarming rolled together.

David Allen Vargo was new to me. I liked his normal voice a lot. But many of his character voices weren't favorites. I also had trouble with some of the added sound effects as well. Rhey distracted me from the story.

Kelly and Ashlynn

So I read/listened to this book complex out of order of this series, yet I don’t feel like I was missing out or confused in any way. I’m glad I finally got to know Kelly and Ashlynn’s story. Even though it was the typical playboy and the virgin storyline, it was done where I kept wanting to hear more and more. This was a great addition to the series that you really need to read. This was my first time listening to David Allen Vargo. I’ve never had a narrator who used sound effects before or even different far away voices like he did. I rather enjoyed that.

I received this copy through the publisher and I am voluntarily reviewing this book, opinions are my own.

nothing like a nice rogue

The audio version of this book is very good, I especially love the narrator. His voice was so deep and sexy! I loved all the McCullough brothers, they are a lively bunch for sure. Kelly was irresistible and I can't fault Ashlynn from falling for him.
Overall, I loved their story, it had everything you expected, swoony moments, spicy ones and heart-wrenching too.

Loved it!

Kelly and Ashlyn's story was a very sweet story. The bad boy and the virgin. It was told really well. I did feel it got a little long in parts, but the overall story was awesome. I love Kelly and the man he evolves into. Sometimes it just takes the right person to walk into your life for you to believe in yourself and your worth. I loved that Ashlyn helped Kelly to really find his purpose in life and see the wonderful person he is. I loved watching their time together and the growth that they both had as individuals as well as a couple.

Once again this family is amazing and a lot of fun.

This narrator did a great job! I don't usually like men for whole stories, but he did a great job! There were great affects in this story that really enhanced the story. I loved that you could tell when they were talking to themselves. It was really well done!

All Audiobooks Should Come with soundtrack

First I have to say I loved the soundtrack that was integrated into this audiobook. Every audiobook should have a soundtrack. It adds so much and I loved it.

This book was recommended to me several times and every time I said no. I wasn’t interested in the book based on the blurb and I didn’t want to waste 14 hours on a book I thought wouldn’t hold my attention. Boy was I wrong. This is a character driven story that grabbed me in chapter 1 (not the prologue that was boring) and would not let me go. I found myself doing house work I had been avoiding just so that I had something to do that gave me an excuse to listen. It’s an emotional heart wrenching beautiful listen that was so hard to walk away from.

The narrator did a fabulous job, I definitely want to listen to more done by him. Again I loved all the sound effects and wish they were in more audiobooks. They added an extra layer to the story that I really enjoyed. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves romance with some angst and characters that have to go through a lot of growing before they can have their happily ever after.

Another LM Hit!

I love a good roller coaster emotion ride & this one fit the build! Lydia Michaels is quickly becoming a favorite for me with her #audiobooks.

I love her plot line of Irish Rogue and the characters are just beautifully chiseled! The way Kelly & Ashlynn were with each was masterfully done. I loved it & fell hard for both characters!

And, David Allen Vargo was the perfect narrator! He switched between characters seamlessly, making the story flow beautifully. He brought all these characters to life & they felt like friends, not just characters.

I definitely need to go back and listen to more of the books in this series. I need more Lydia Michaels works & characters! Great 4⭐️, recommended listen!

This was my first audiobook

Where to start? For the book itself I was really intrigued, invested and entertained. There were certain moments in this book that had going “wtf” and actually googling things I did not see myself googling. Am I mad about? No, cause it only opened me up to something new and I’m always here for continual learning. Idk what I was expecting when I got this audiobook, but I will say I enjoyed it.

Now for the narrator, his voice throughout the whole thing had me cracking up and it kept me thoroughly entertained.

A good audiobook

Irish Rogue is the third book in the McCullough Mountain series and my first from this author. I enjoyed Kelly and Ashlyn's story, and I am definitely interested in listening to the other books in the series. I'm happy to have found a new author to follow!

Irish Rogue

A good story and good addition to the McCullough series.

The first half of the book was really great to read.
After some time it was like the story is streched too much.

But in the end everything was fine and Kelly & Ashlynn got their HEA :)

Edit: I was listening to the audiobook too and OMG, David Allen Vargo did an awsome job! His voice is yummy, his female voices funny amd I love all the special effects. Makes listening much more interesting.
