Story
Never in my 40 years did I think my new normal would be gluing body parts back onto ghosts and hosting a houseful of dead squatters. Thank God for superglue and a strong stomach. Never thought I’d date the Grim Reaper and that I would be the one to blow it. I mean, how idiotic does one have to be to get dumped by a dude who lives in Hell? Going about business as usual is not usual in any way. No one is who they seem to be...and to be honest, neither am I. What I’d known to be true has turned out to be myth. The angels are frightening, and the demons are hot.

Four months of wallowing in embarrassed depression should be enough. I’m beginning to realize that no one is who they seem to be, and my life story might be spinning out of my control. It’s time to take a shower, put on a bra, and wear something other than sweatpants. Difficult, but doable. With my friends - real and imaginary - by my side, I need to edit my life before the elusive darkness comes for all of us.

The meet-cute award goes to dog groomer Juliet Nolan. It’s one of Hollywood’s biggest nights when she volunteers as a seat filler and winds up next to movie heartthrob Noah freaking Douglas. Tongue-tied and toes curling in her pink Converse, she pretends that she doesn’t have a clue who he is. It’s the only way to keep from swooning. She’s pretty and unpretentious, loves his dog, and is not a worshipping fan. No way Noah’s giving up on her, even if his affectionate pursuit comes with a bump: Juliet has a pathological fear of kissing....

Publisher's Summary
Whoever said life begins at 40 must have been heavily medicated, drunk, or delusional.
Thirty-nine was a fantastic year. I was married to the man I loved. I had a body that worked without creaking. My grandma, who raised me, was still healthy, and life was pretty damned good.
But as they say, all good things come to an end. I’d honestly love to know who “they” are and rip them a new one.
One year later, I’m a widow. My joints are starting to ache. Gram is in the nursing home, and dead people think my home is some kind of supernatural bed-and-breakfast. Gluing body parts onto semi-transparent people has become a side job - deceased people I’m not even sure are actually there. I think they need my help, but since I don’t speak dead, we’re having a few issues.
To add to the heap of trouble, there’s a new dangerously smokin’ hot lawyer at the firm who won’t stop giving me the eye. My BFF is thrilled with her new frozen face, thanks to her plastic surgeon, her alimony check, and the miracle of Botox. And then there’s the little conundrum that I’m becoming way too attached to my ghostly squatters.... Like Cher, I’d like to turn back time. Now.
No can do.
Whatever. I have wine, good friends, and an industrial sized box of superglue. What could possibly go wrong?
Everything, apparently.
All in all, it’s shaping up to be a wonderful midlife crisis....

Pwf perfection!
I freaking loved it! I love the book but the narrator is absolutely perfect and I lovvvvvveedd it. I laughed out loud so many times. I love the squatters, the hubs is the best and grams crack me up! There’s so much humor and a wonderful world being built with a paranormal flair that’s not like any pwf I have read before. This genre has brought so much enjoyment and this one is right at the top as one of my faves! The narrator couldn’t have been more perfect for this set of characters and I can’t wait to dive into books two!!! I

I love reading the book dislike the audio
It’s not the author’s fault as I loved all the books in the series but the narrator ruined all of the audio versions. I couldn’t get past the first few minutes of any of the audio books. What a waste of money and credits. Just hope Robyn doesn’t use this narrator in any of her future audio books.

Out of this world
Escape to a world that is beyond this life where Daisy can not only see ghosts, but talk to them and glue them back together.
This wildly interesting and funny story brings Daisy into the world of the unknown along with the new lawyer in her firm Gideon who isn't what he seems either and a whole list of interesting and outrageous characters that will give you hours on enjoyment.
Jessica Almasy is a wonderful narrator who brings the characters to life and adds an enormous amount of depth to the story making it come alive for you.

Was Never an Audible fan before this!
I have to be honest, I wasn't one to listen to audio books before now. I absolutely love to read. I will read at least 3 books a week, but I hadn't tried audio before. I was afraid it wouldn't sound like it does in my head. Or the inevitable would happen where the movie ( in this case audio) didn't live up to the book. I can legitimately say THIS BOOK IS PHENOMINAL! The way Jessica Almasy narrates this work is nothing short of amazing. You will laugh and even cry through out the whole thing. The story is amazing, the characters are some of my favorite ever! I can't wait to listen to the rest of the series. Daisy is having a rough 40 to put it mildly. Widowed, seeing dead people, an evil coworker and now a hot as hell new lawyer with a bit of an attitude problem. She never has a dull moment. She legit thinks she's loosing her ever loving mind only to find out from her gram that she comes from a long line of death counselors. Of course this opens up a whole new can of worms in learning that heaven and hell do exist along with things or should I say people like the angel of death, angel of mercy, along with Arc angels and a whole slew of other interesting beings. Even though this story is narrated by one person the inflection she does for each character brings them to life individually and you won't be disappointed. I would recommend this book to any and everyone! You need this in your life and won't be able to wait for the next ones!

Hilarious!
I loved this book. A couple of the scenes in it are some of the funniest scenes I've ever read! The main character has a wonderful personality and struggles with things that I relate well to.
The narration was excellent. I'm not sure I would recommend this book for a really noisy environment. But, if you do, I don't think the whispered words here and there are essential, so you would probably still understand each scene anyway.
Don't let a noisy environment keep you from this book! It is a side-splitting, fun escape!

The banter.... gag
The female character is the same as so many in this genre. Assuming she is always right, constantly jumping to conclusions, annoying false bravado. She is incapable of having a conversation beyond the trivial. She asks questions, and then expresses fear of the answer so resides with half truths and whatever she has determined the answer will be.
Her entire relationship with every other character is completely one sided, as she devises their thoughts and words based on her interpretation of their actions. She isn’t funny, she has no depth, she is a moron. She has the emotional maturity, intelligence, and vocabulary of a pre-teen. I couldn’t even listen to the last 30 mins, I was so annoyed.
This book was written, presumably for women over 30, but would be more enjoyed by teens. I’m really sad I wasted a credit.

Dissapointing writing, horrible narration
I was missled by very positive reviews, but the book was not what I hoped for. For one, the narrator screamed half of the time and sounded like hysterical lunatic. It didn't help, that the main character called herself out of her mind, cuckoo and other terms in every other sentence. It was repetetive and anoying.
As a women of forty, as she loved to remind everyone aaaallll the time, she is immature and lacks any foresight. And it's very dissapointing that the whole plot and the twists of the book was based on that.
The book ends not on the cliff hanger, but in the mess she put herself into, and I'm not sure, I want to download the second one.

gripping
for the first chapter I thought I had bought the second book as so much was happening right from the get go.
Once you have got to grips with the characters and what is going on this book has to gripped and there is no stopping.
I am lucky to of only just found this book as it ends on a cliff hanger so I can buy the second.
I loved the banter and at times had me laughing out loud.
I thought the narrator did a good job too.
who would of thought ghosts and the grim reaper could be so entertaining.

This was read in such a shouty way it really detracts from a good story and concept

Thoroughly enjoyable
I chose this series as my holiday listens as I like the narrator and the storyline sounded intriguing.
I chose correctly, I thoroughly enjoyed this first book, it's humourous, it's silly, it's full of mystery too. Great ingredients for a book.

Narrator ruins what could have been an enjoyable listen
From the beginning, a few seconds in, I knew the narrator was an over-actor. I stuck in, knowing this could have been an enjoyable listen.
I changed the speed of narration, 0.9 then 0.8 in the hope it help.
Robyn Peterman has probably written a really good book. The narrator, for me, killed it from the first couple of paragraphs. I’ll be returning this title. Plus I’ll be avoiding any book narrated by Jessica Almasy.

I absolutely loved this... Until...
This book was fantastic up until the last hour, and then it seriously pissed me off and had me absolutely raging. So much so I almost switched off and deleted the next in the series.
It started off as one of the best series I've listened to in a long while, it's hilarious, added to all the more by the narration (except she shouts a really lot and I felt I was forever turning the volume up and down trying to find the happy medium, which is why it's only four stars, not 5).
But the last hour. Jeez. It was such an easy listen with pretty much zero angst, which I loved coz usually there's a pointless and unrealistic plot twist just for the sake of causing an argument. This book didn't have that, it was just all about the story. Then boom! And the whole time the situation was going on, I'm thinking "phone Gideon, why aren't you calling on him, he'll know what to do! PHONE GIDEON!! I'd be phoning Gideon at this point, come on!!!" and then she flies totally and unrationally off the handle in the most major way imaginable. In a way that doesn't even make sense given the conversation they'd had literally three minutes earlier. I was genuinely infuriated.
If I wasn't the type of weirdo who has to read the synopsis for every book in the series to get an idea of what happens, I honestly would've given up on the whole series right then.
But. If you prepare yourself in advance to know the last hour is an unreasonable and entirely pointless clusterfudge that eventually all works out, albeit not in this book, then it's an excellent book.
Maybe not ruined entirely by the unnecessary angst at the end, but it definitely took the shine off. I listened to the book in one sitting and it kind of did spoil my happy a bit.
The book is hilarious though, and so sweet and just really nice up to that point though, so I would definitely recommend, albeit with a warning about the ending.
(plus i listened to the whole second book straight after, so... Haha)

Ridiculously fun!
I enjoyed the hell out of this book! It's a fun and unique storyline. The narration is great, some slightly stilted bits but WELL and truly made up.for by how well she brings the characters to life.

Couldn't stop listening!
So I started listening to audiobooks to help me get to sleep. That worked on most books, but this series had me hitting the 30 mins more button way too often I listened in the car at every chance too! I found the PWF authors through Facebook and adore the idea of the magic awakening not in some young thing, but in a mature woman who has seen some stuff. Robyns world she has created is no disappointment! I love all of the characters (some certainly took some warming up too!!) I have listened up to book 6 now and am missing my new "friends" until next time. The narrators' style did take a little getting used to for me, but once I did I loved her. She caught the enthusiasm of the characters beautifully.
