Each of us has a dual nature: we are light (conscious) and dark (unconscious). The dark side of our personality - the “other,” the shadow side - is made up of what we think is our primitive, primal, negative impulses - our “existential kink.” Our existential kink also drives the dark or negative repeating patterns in our life: always choosing the abusive partner or boss, settling for less, thinking that we’re undeserving, not worthy. But it also is the source of our greatest power.

The issues that make monogamous dating daunting for people of color - shaming and exclusion by white partners, being fetishized, having realities of everyday racism ignored - occur in polyamorous relationships, too, and trying "not to see race" only makes it worse. To make polyamorous communities inclusive, we must all acknowledge our part in perpetuating racism and listen to people of color.

Publisher's Summary
You are one click away from discovering the secret to beating your jealousy and insecurity and developing trust for a more meaningful relationship!
Jealousy: We all have some level of jealousy, as that’s probably what makes us want to hold on to what’s ours and protect it from being taken away from us. Unfortunately, if left unchecked, jealousy can eat away at any relationship to a point where there is nothing holding it.
And not just that; it causes unnecessary trouble, stress, anxiety, worry, fear, fighting, arguments, negative thoughts and other negative emotions to all the parties involved such that there is no longer fulfillment and satisfaction from being in the relationship.
Have people complained about your jealousy?
Have you had your relationship end because of doing sneaky things all fueled by jealousy?
Has jealousy made you overreact in different situations only for you to look bad, immature, controlling, insecure and suffocating?
Have you embarrassed yourself multiple times because of acting out of jealousy?
Any you’ve answered any of these questions with a "yes", you need to do something about your jealousy. I know you know the negative consequences that being jealous has brought into your life and now want to turn things around as a result.
So what do you do about your jealousy?
How can you stop being jealous when you feel as if your place is being threatened?
How do you insulate yourself from feeling the urge to act on your jealousy through sneaky comments, cold treatments and such?
What causes jealousy and what fuels it?
Why is it that it comes so naturally to a point where you don’t even notice when you are actually doing it?
What can you do to tame your jealousy, to stop it in its tracks from morphing into destructive behavior, selfishness and controlling tendencies?
And what may happen to your relationship(s) if you don’t do something about taming your jealousy?
If you have these and other related questions, this book is for you so keep reading, as it covers the ins and outs of jealousy until you see a complete transformation in your relationships.
More precisely, this book covers:
- The basics of jealousy, including what it is, how it manifests, the different types of jealousy, why we become jealous and much more
- The differences and similarities between jealousy and envy
- How to recognize feelings of jealousy
- What jealousy can do to your relationship
- Useful tips on how to deal with jealousy in your relationship
- How to avoid jealousy and build trust in your relationship
- The impact of extreme, unhealthy jealousy on marriages
- The relationship between low self-esteem and jealousy
- The relationship between jealousy and insecurity/co-dependence
- And much, much more!
Indeed, overcoming feelings of jealousy does not have to be complicated.

Worst self help book EVER
First off...Take a look at all the 5 start reviews. All were entered in the same day, have nonsensical statements and are clearly fake reviews.
The writing feels like an eighth grader that found out what a thesaurus is yesterday. She uses grammatically inappropriate structure and descriptive words that do not fit in the context of the material. Her arguments are rambling and unclear with zero substantive support for the arguments. She states things like, "... Freud proved there are two types of jealousy..." Theorized? Suggested? Contemplated?
I do not believe he "proved" anything. Terrible writing that would be lucky to get a D grade in her eighth grade composition class.
Adding insult to injury, the narrator was atrocious. Breanna "no last name" has a significant Jersey accent which is grating and obnoxious. I can hear her turning pages which is distracting. She uses awkward pauses while narrating which feels like a car missing a cylinder... super choppy. Her inflections seem like she's reading the material for the first time while recording. Worst though is her mispronunciation of words... "Underlining," instead of underlying, and, "prompensity" instead of propensity. That's only two examples of dozens of mispronounced words.
Shame on the publishing house. Audible needs to look into the fake reviews.

Just awful
Both the writing and the performance of this work are terrible.
The author has no coherence and very little substance. Not a single term she defines is used in a consistent way throughout the book. She switches constantly and unpredictably between "Jealousy will destroy your very soul" and "A little jealousy is a good thing". She also switches inexplicably between the vantage point of the jealous partner and the one to whom the jealousy is being directed. Liberal use of unclear pronouns make those situations nearly incomprehensible. There is dangerous advice given that one should alter one's behavior to keep their partner from being jealous.
The narrator mispronounces dozens of words during the grueling 3:14 of the book, even though nothing in the book is written above about an 8th grade reading level. There were several times that I had to rewind 10 seconds and listen to a sentence again just to try to infer what word she was butchering.
Either the author, the narrator, or both have fundamental incomprehension of the English language. There are multiple dozens of fragmented or grammatically unparseable sentences. The phrase "the underlining issue" is used half a dozen times and not to describe a problem with the formatting of a printed document.

its so hard to get through this book. the voice actor is misspronouncing the most simple of words consistently. the grammer is bad but I'm not sure if thats from the writer or the reader. the info seems to be pretty simple and repetitive. there are no specific examples. its all very vague.
also im pretty sure the reader was chewing gum the whole time.

Beware fake reviews
All the 5-star reviews are fake, as is evident when reading the associated review text.
I didn't properly read up on the existing reviews before purchasing and beginning to listen to this audiobook.
As most of the actual reviews on this book explain, both the contents of the book as well as the narration are very sub-standard. The narrator has trouble pronouncing certain words, which I do as well I'm sure. But if I'm paid to narrate a title for Audible, I will make certain I look up how to properly pronounce words I'm unfamiliar with. Certainly not the case here.
As for the contents of the book itself, I only made it through a bit less than an hour of listening before I asked for a return of my store credit. It goes from occasionally being helpful and on-point, to almost making me feel bad for ever having felt jealous. I also felt like the author jumps back and forth between trying to offer useful tools to help with jealousy, and simply talking about how jealousy is toxic and not really helpful at all in a relationship. Thank you, I understand as much. It's the reason I purchased the book.
I'd highly recommend giving this title a pass.

It’s a basic reality that relationships go smoother when people don’t get overly jealous. The more we can get a hold on our feelings of jealousy and make sense of them separate from our partner.

Repetitive and poorly narrated/edited
This book is really good when it comes to stating the obvious - multiple times...
The narrator mispronounced words, placed emphasis in the wrong places and, several times, she stumbles over a word and then begins the sentence again without this being edited out! Shocking... It was painful to listen to.
The short chapter on polyamory gave no advice at all, but simply defined the term so there was no help there.
Throughout the book, jealousy was referred to as 'silly' - emotions are never silly. They are to be treated as valid and important if they're to ever be tackled or managed effectively.
All in all, this book is naive and poorly expressed and I learned nothing of any value except to avoid other books by this author
