18 freaking outstanding stories, 2 meh stories
By and large, this is an outstanding achievement by the writers who contributed. I was on the edge of my seat throughout. The writers really did a great job working with the DMS characters that we all know, keeping them true to canon while giving fresh looks into their lives.
We don't just wander with Joe Ledger, either. We get a great chicks-kick-butt story with Lydia and a fun story about off-time with Top, Bunny, and Lydia.
We also get a story in Joe Ledger's days as a uniformed police officer. That was a really exciting and fun one.
Then there are the stories told from the point of view of people traveling with Ledger, and I found the external view of him fun to experience.
I thought that the tie-ins to other universes risked cheesiness, but that was not at all the case. The tie-ins were very well done, introducing me to some characters that I may find the books for and listen to.
And the last story written by Jonathan Maberry himself... WOW! Freaking outstanding.
I did, however, have two stories to gripe about.
My top two favorite authors are Jonathan Maberry (Ledger) and Larry Correia (MHI and Grimnoir). I finally to got the Larry Correia's story with great anticipation. And I was kind of let down. The story was told in vivid detail with fascinating concepts. But in the end, it just kind of went nowhere and fizzled out right when it could have become really gripping.
The other is about a reporter who is supposed to be super virtuous. It's written by a former reporter and is an obvious attempt to show that reporters and their editors aren't monsters willing to sacrifice anything and anyone to create chaos they can sensationalize to promote their careers. Having seen how reporters operate on several tense occasions first hand, I found the story to be a transparent, self-serving, and insulting.
Other than those two stories, I absolutely loved the rest of the anthology and will be giving it a second go-around.
And then there's Ray Porter. That guy is an incredible reader, and he in top form in this series of stories. Of course, any Joe Ledger audiobook fan will recognize the established characters of the DMS world. But Ray Porter seemed to give real life to new characters and the ones from other universes. I suspect that he could read a math textbook and it would be exciting.
Overall, a great buy and highly recommended!

Excellent Writing
I didn't realize I was buying an anthology- Oh well, Ray Porter is, in my opinion, one of the top 10 Narrators on Audible. With that said, the stories all include Joe Ledger in various situations (with the exception of one story, perhaps the weakest of them all. Still good but when I read/listen to this book again I will skip it). The stories are very very good. It will have you googling all the writers. The two stories that I didn't care for were about Ghost, narrated in first person, and the Dojo. Let me say this again, the writing is very very good. Even if you don't care for the stories you have to give a nod at the good writing.

Interpretations
From my view, this title is really for Joe Ledger enthusiasts who have read the previous novels up to the publication of this anthology. It is an excellent read with many short stories from a variety of authors giving their take on Joe Ledger and his supporting cast. The issue for the non-enthusiast would be the confusion of not understanding the myriad of references one would only know from reading the previous series of novels. So...read the series and then come back for some great works of fiction with Joe Ledger and his crew.
Regarding the stories, while they are all good, a couple really got my interest. The first deals with Joe as a high school student and his actions after his girlfriend was raped. While I will not reveal it, the ending still haunts me. WOW. The other was just a fun read as the narration is from Ghost, Joe's able White German Sheppard. Just loved it. As always, Ray Porter is superb. For loyal Joe Ledger fans, this is a must listen.

Over too Fast
Great stories and great tie ins with other authors storylines and characters.
This book was over way too quickly. There needs to be several sequels.
Ray Porter is the only narrator for Joe Ledger and does his usual excellent job here.
All the stories are good, some are great and make you want to know more.
Still waiting for more stories about Mr. Church or better yet a novel or two.

Joe Ledger at his best
To be fair I confess I’m crazy about the Joe Ledger series and I love, love, love Ray Porter as a narrator, so you can probably guess I enjoyed most of the short stories in the Ledger universe—true. All the stories gave me insights into the personalities I look forward to following most and I was happy to see that all the characters remained spot on to their Maberry-written-originals. Dr. Hu didn’t suddenly volunteer at the local soup kitchen and Church didn’t reveal a secret past as a stand-up comedian.
One minor disappointment was Joe didn’t get to meet Agent Franks. I’d love to see a Ledger-Franks smackdown.
My favorite story was Red Dirt. Although the story didn’t have any fighting, it had a lot of heart. I connected with Katherine, the down-home-girl who became a doctor to help her community. Next, I loved that Ruddy Sanchez got the chance to play team leader. Usually, he’s the guy who stays at the base camp waiting to put mental band-aids on the trauma victims or counseling the returning warriors after mission. This time he, Circe, Top and Bunny investigate a mysterious disease that mimics Adult Onset Galactosemia, a disease I didn’t know anything about before this tale.
Other highlights for me were Black Water, a sad, sort-of ghost story which involves Joe as a teenager and Banshee had a super suit which would give Antman’s a run for its money.
If you like Acts of Valor meets X-File tales, you’ll enjoy these stories.

Hit or Miss, but overall still worth it
Not so much of a Joe Ledger series of stories as a selection of different perspectives within the Joe Ledger universe. Most the stories (about 3 out of every 4) were really good, and certainly in the vein of the original series. Many of the authors lacked the ability to describe combat in the detailed way that original series was known for. Some stories fell flat entirely. Although I'm sure the crossovers were fun to write, a great many of them were more comedy than the original blend of humor, horror, and action. Ray Porter killed it as always. I would recommend wading through the bad stories in order to hear the few in here that are really worth it!

Disappointing
It’s not a Jonathan Mayberry book, that’s all you need to know. It’s written by other people and although some, like Scott Sigler, are great writers, it’s not a proper Joe Ledger book.
I wouldn’t recommend it.

Essential for any Ledger fan
This is arguably the best and most essential installment in the series to date, and I truly hope he commissions a volume two. All of the authors continue weaving the Ledger reality beautifully, taking him in some different directions. The diversity is what really stands out as not all of the stories hit Ledger head on, virtually all of the main DMS protagonists star at some point which gives a wonderful multitude of points of view. Another nice touch is that these entries all happen at different points in his history. Crucially some from his back story of cop and even before that, which has never been explored in depth. This will definitely make more sense to those familiar with the previous entries, and I would suggest anyone coming in fresh might want to start elsewhere. Porter of course is excellent as usual, and my slight concern is that I haven't seen Deep Silence trailed on audible yet, so perhaps we're not getting an audio version. I do hope we do though. Finally it's also great that I have some new authors to check out. Get this collection without fail

Really disappointed
Very disappointed with this book - the mashup of short stories from other writers, most of which in my view cannot hold a candle to Johnathan Mayberry style of writing the Joe Ledger series, really didn't do it for me.
Didn't even finish the whole book - if it wasn't for the top notch quality narration by Ray Porter, I don't even think I would have gotten this far.
