Publisher's Summary

If you want to discover the captivating life of John Jay, then pay attention....

John Jay was a master statesman and strategic diplomat who associated with all the great men of his day in the mid-18th century. However, his contemporaries said that he was modest and humble. They indicated that they could be at a party or gathering and guests had to coax him into discussing his role during the American Revolution or as the first Supreme Court Justice of the new nation.

When he became the first chief justice of America, he established the groundwork for fairness and neutrality in decision-making. Many of the principles he established in the 19th century are practiced today by this high court. His foresight was extremely acute, and leaders of America sought out his opinions even during his retirement. He was a role model for patience and fairness, and he manifested these qualities in his roles as a jurist, the governor of New York, and the ambassador to Spain, France, and England.

In John Jay: A Captivating Guide to an American Statesman, Patriot, Diplomat, Governor of New York, the First Chief Justice, and One of the Founding Fathers of the United States of America, you will discover topics such as:

John Jay

This is a great audiobook on an oft-overlooked founding father. It should be a part of any library of founding father biographies.

Nicely Described History

This book describes rather thoroughly Mr. Jay's relationships with other government leaders and with his family. I always find that biographies bring history alive.

Well Done

The author goes into a little too much detail in some of the aspects of John Jay's work, but overall the book gives a good report of how the United States of America developed its independence and then set about to form a slightly imperfect democratic government.

Good Job

This is a very well written account of the most important member of the United States' Founding Father's club. Many, many people contributed to the establishment of the United States and all risked their lives and total ruin in establishing this amazing nation of ours.

This book is perfect, it gets a full five stars for overall quality and the fact that it provides illumination on a generally neglected historical figure.

It is an omission to not recognize the impact that John Jay had on the history of the United States. Whether or not the information in this book is accurate his involvement in important actions and documents that contributed to the building of the United States as we know it is significant. Five Stars

One of the better Hourly History books. I learned a lot about John Jay when I visited the Supreme Court in Washington D.C. Very nice statue of him in the Supreme Court building. His views on the Abolition of slavery to States rights were far ahead of it's time. John Jay was truly a "Founding Father and should be treated that way.
