Publisher's Summary
In the number one New York Times best seller Mindhunter, John Douglas, who headed the FBI's elite Investigative Support Unit, told the story of his brilliant and terrifying career tracking down some of the most heinous criminals in history. Now, working again with his coauthor Mark Olshaker, Douglas delves further into the criminal mind with a series of chilling new cases.
Follow the FBI’s premier investigative profiler as he penetrates the minds and motives of the most terrifying serial killers.
In Journey into Darkness, Douglas profiles vicious serial killers, rapists and child molesters. Some of the unique cases Douglas discusses include the Claremont killer, the schoolgirl murders that became known as Canada’s 'trial of the century', Richmond, Virginia’s first serial murderer, and the double homicide of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman.
With Journey into Darkness, Douglas provides more than a glimpse into the minds of serial killers; he demonstrates what a powerful weapon behavioural science has become. Profiling criminals helps not only to capture them but also helps society understand how these predators work and what can be done to prevent them from striking again.
Journey into Darkness continues this perilous trip into the psyche of the serial killer but also offers a glimmer of hope that profiling may enable law enforcement to see the indicators of a serial killer's mind and intervene before he kills - or kills again.

Great book, Off-putting narration
The content of this book is great, it’s certainly a tough read but it’s interesting and insightful. What I really struggled with was the narration, to me, it’s just jarring. Because of that, I recommend listening to The Killer Across the Table, and reading this book instead.

brilliant! great read and love the narrators voice
this book really gives you an insight into how the mind hunters brain works and the theory behind his approach. unlike other books he really spends time describing the victims not just the perps which makes it all the more heartbreaking but really establishes his motive for catching these criminals. facinating stuff. and I really liked the narrators voice and pace. top read.

Fascinating book, mediocre narration
This is a fascinating book. Having listened to Mindhunter I was concerned it would focus on similar cases, but it is much broader and less about the author. I didn't particularly like the narrator, but the story was interesting enough to listen anyway.

Yet another engaging book from this amazing author
Having read two other books from the same author, this did not disappoint! Douglas is entrancing with his experience and knowledge within this field. Only thing that let it down slightly was the narrator, could not take to him at all.

A truly excellent and very informative book.
When i first heard Danny Campbell's voice I was thinking to myself, this voice is going to grate on me, but i stuck with it and rather enjoyed the sound and tone of his voice, the professionalism and also the way in which Danny portrayed every small detail in every possible way was most intriguing. I will be keeping this book for a while, and will be listening to it a few times more. I hope that i can find some more books narrated by Danny Campbell, and much along the same kind of genre. I wholeheartedly recommend this Audiobook.

Great book aprt from 2 chapters
I am a big fan of this author and have nothing but total respect for what he has achieved. This book however wanders way off script first a lecture on how to raise children then in the following chapter a long monologue of minor detail on the raising of 2 adopted children made it the reading very tedious.

Preachy
Good but very preachy in places especially regarding child safety. He assumes that parents have no common sense.

A bit preachy
Not as well written, or performed as "The Killer Across The Table", nor as good as "Mindhunter".

John Douglas delves deep into darkness
Hard listen, very well written. Takes us into some horrifying cases to showcase his skills.
