Publisher's Summary

Welcome to Sector House 301, the isolated dumping ground for Mega-City One's every misfit and foul-up Judge. Nicknamed The Pit, the sector house holds many dark secrets, and the discovery of one of them may have led to the death of Sector Chief Rohan.

Sent to take over The Pit is Judge Dredd. Together with a small team of trusted Judges, he uncovers a trail of deceit and murder that leads to the very top levels of command. The only question is, will Dredd live long enough to bring the culprits to Justice?

Featuring Joseph Fiennes as Dredd, and an ensemble cast including Paterson Joseph and Patricia Rodriguez, fans of Judge Dredd and newcomers to Mega City One alike will be transported to brutal dystopian world Dredd for an immersive listening experience like no other.

Critic Reviews

"This audio adaptation is a strong showcase for one of the lawman's most underrated storylines. Fans of both the character and audio drama should enjoy its intricate plotting, high production values and sharp writing." (Starburst Magazine)

"Suitably gritty and grounded story of police corruption that will, perhaps more than any of the other 2000 AD releases, appeal to those with absolutely no prior knowledge of either Judge Dredd or the Galaxy's Greatest Comic." (Big Comic Page)

"Once again, the makers excelled themselves" (Life of Die)

A decent Judge Dredd story is still a great story

Great narration. Decent Dredd voice acting. Interesting characters. I do prefer the traditional more gritty cold Dredd.

Best of the lot

This one actually felt like an audio drama unlike the last two I listened to.

Brilliant

I expected to be disappointed by this. I expected it to be cheap and cheesy. I was wrong. This is better than either of the attempts at a Dredd movie, well written, well acted, well produced and well directed. Very true to the character and the world of Mega City One as you'd expect from this writer. This production is up there with the recent Alien productions of Dirk Maggs and his audio-movie concept. In fact, I think this medium suits the world of Dredd more than any other except its original comic book format.

Very short and difficult to follow

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I find these audio dramas quite difficult to follow… you need to pick up on the names of the different characters quickly and given that actions take place via sound effects rather than the spoken word, it’s sometimes difficult to work out what exactly is happening at a given moment. I’m a big Dredd fan, and I’ve not read ‘The Pit’ so I was looking forward to this, but just as I was beginning to get into it, it finished! Also, I’m not sold on Joseph Fiennes as Ol’ Stoney Face… I’ve always imagined Dredd to be more gruff!

I’ve been making my way through the Dredd audiobooks, just wish there was more.

Softly spoken Dredd?

The story is excellent, but I just can't get on with Joseph Fiennes as Dredd. Big Finish had the perfect Dredd with Toby Longworth, to be honest.

Really enjoyed it

I was a bit lukewarm about the adaptation of America, and didn't really get Joseph Fiennes as Dredd. The Pit is a big turnaround. This is a taut thriller with hints of the Wire or other procedurals about it. It all hangs together very well. A big shout out to Mark Elstob as Priest (doing a very creditable impression of Paul Giammatti).

breathtaking production

I am not a comics fan and have not read the Judge Dredd before. This was a completely breath-taking and compelling experience to listen to. The immersive production was like no audiobook I've heard before and I barely stopped for breath. Completely magical!
