Story
The first time Avery Flynn saw Derek Roberts, she was photographing him for the first annual Kilgore Police Department SWAT calendar. He was leaned back in his squad car, shirtless, and giving her a smile that was completely between them. A smile that hinted at what he wanted to do to her later. When she scrounges up the courage to ask him out after the photoshoot, he laughs in her face. Well, screw you, too, Mr. February.

Story
"I’m kind of a lady, but definitely more of a weirdo." Hearing the woman at the table behind him say that to her friend should’ve turned Logan Gibbs off. It doesn’t. In all honesty, it only makes him listen harder. He’s had enough weird in his life to last a lifetime. The last thing his complicated life needs is a woman in it who has no clue what color you get when you mix yellow and blue together. Yet, her obvious blonde moments aren’t enough to deter him. Nor is her lack of finger-painting skills.

Story
After a horrible marriage, Haggard has zero plans of ever finding a woman again. One-night stands not counting, he adores his life as a single man. There are no expectations. No "where are yous" and "are you coming homes". The life he chooses to live is a simple one. Until he makes a huge mistake, and he steps over that line between "daughter’s best friend" and "a woman he desperately wants". Before long, he can’t stop thinking about her. Can’t stop wanting her. Can’t stop feeling things for her that a man 20 years her senior should never feel for a girl he watched grow up.

His Wranglers fit him like a glove. A really tight, leaving nothing to the imagination, glove. Codie wants nothing more than to shove that Wrangler-covered butt straight into the mud. Ace Valentine has a smart mouth, a devil-may-care attitude, and those wicked eyes aimed directly at her. She doesn't know what to do with that kind of attention. Especially not from the sweet-talking man that has no problem charming every woman that enters his orbit - everyone but her, at least.

Luke Roberts came to the small, lazy town of Kilgore, Texas, with one thing on his mind: forgetting. He wanted to forget why he left. Forget those emerald green eyes that haunted his dreams. And forget how it felt to have his heart ripped out of his chest by a woman who didn't like the fact that he had a child. It was something he'd been doing a damn fine job of doing, too. Until Reese smashed through every one of his defenses and made him feel again.

His family has lived and breathed baseball even before he started little league. Hancock "Parts" Peters has a name that inspires grins across many faces, but the moment those faces get their first look at him, those grins slide away. Hancock is gruff, filterless, and doesn't give a crap who he offends. He is the only man in baseball who doesn't care if he gets an endorsement or not. He's there to play the game.

Publisher's Summary
Let’s do a calendar, they said. It’ll be fun, they said.
Well, they - i.e., Kilgore Police Department’s public relations specialists - were wrong.
Now, every time Dax Tremaine walks around a corner, the women of Kilgore, Texas, can’t help calling him Mr. January.
Mr. January, can you fix my flat tire? Mr. January, can you cuff me? Mr. January, can you sign my boob?
It goes from bad to worse when even on a SWAT call, the women won’t stay away.
It was the worst time of her life. Rowen Roberts had finally admitted to herself that the man she loved would never love her back. She was just fired from her job for violating client confidentiality, and to make matters worse, she’s held up at gunpoint in a convenience store where she only wanted some ice cream to help mask the pain.
The moment the gun is pressed to her forehead, she knows she has a decision to make. Follow the rules and maybe possibly live, or go down swinging where at least she can salvage just a little bit of her dignity.
And when Mr. January himself tells her to do what the gunman says, she’s had enough. Rowen has never really been a girl that does what she’s told. Mr. January won’t have to save her. She can dang well save herself.

The Summary is wrong
So I am a big LLV fan so I don't like writing reviews that are not very nice. Let me start by saying, the summary does not match the story. I feel like I missed something somewhere. In the prologue, she is out with people from work and she does in fact get her heart broken by the man she think shes in love with. Then we go right into chapter 1 where she is in her dad's office crying about losing her job and being held at gunpoint. I even went back to see if I missed something in the prologue because these events didnt even take place in the book. Regardless, supposedly she is in a convenience store and she has a gun to her head and Mr. January is supposedly there telling her to listen to the gunman. well that's not possible because he is in fact in Kilgore on the other side of the door listening to Rowan tell her dad about the incident and he wasnt even there. I really do wish that incident would have been written into the story because I would have been more than excited to read that.
I am not familiar with either of the narrators. The male narrator wasnt too bad, so I gave him the stars. I didn't care for the female narrator at all so I didn't give her any stars. her voice was just unpleasant and whiny. The story was decent enough but the summary needs to be revised because I was expecting a different story. There wasnt a single incident in the book where Rowan is told how to act and she rebelled and went against someone's wishes or commands.

SO, SO SORRY
I have listened to every book available on Audible written by LLV and have loved them all. She is one of my all time favorite authors. However, this one was ruined by the narrators. I had to actually concentrate hard, as if I was listening to an incomprehensible educational manual, for this book to keep my attention. I also had to quit and listen to something else (twice) in order to talk myself into going back to finish. Narrators can certainly destroy a story if they aren't good narrators. In my opinion, audio books should be performed, not just narrated. These two did not perform, and sorely disappointed. I will be asking for my money/credit back which will be a first for me with this author. So sorry Ms. Vale even though the storyline was good, these two narrators just didn't work for me.

Loving this series!
This series tells the stories of the kids of KPD SWAT and it is great catching up with the parents and seeing the, now grown, kids find their HEA. This is the story of Luke’s 2nd daughter, Rowan, and Dax, son of Max from another series. Rowan has just graduated from law school and passed the bar. She is ready to ‘adult’, which includes a relationship. Unfortunately, the guy that she’s had her eye on treats her like a sister...THEN, wait for it, starts dating her arch nemesis! When Ro is not hired permanently at the law firm at which she interned, she cuts her losses and heads back to Kilgore. She meets Dax when she goes to visit her father, now Chief of Police. The attraction is palpable but is Ro ready? Dax has some baggage from his teens that may come between them.
There are lots of fun moments, some ex drama and finally an HEA.

excessive and unnecessary profanity
Story line was okay and narration was good, but I just couldn't finish the book due to the excessive profanity. I'm not a prude and some profanity is ok, but every single character from the 8 year old child to the grandmother couldn't get through 2 lines of dialog without an f***ing this or an f***ing that. So unnecessary and distracting.

Narration leaves a lot to be desired
I LOVE this series! I have read, and re-read these books on my iPad, but decided to listen to them while a work. The male narrator isn't that bad, but the female is BAD. I hope the other books in this series have better narration or I might have to skip listening to them. 🙁

Dax and Rowen 💜💜💜
(Dax & Rowen): TRIGGERS: assault, stalking, bullying, attempted murder. Ohh… this book had me hotter than a firecracker with the first few chapters and I really wanted to jump into the pages and bitch slap someone. Often LLV will give us two antagonists and this book is no different but it will SHOCK you to find out who they are. Rowen just passed the bar and is currently in San Antonio after a run in with her long time crushes girlfriend causes her to leave home immediately. Her family is pissed and rallies around her. So does Dad, a member of the SWAT team who works with both her dad and brother. The heat and chemistry between Dax and Rowen is immediate and explosive. They start as friends with a boiling over point. He's really the support she needs and vice versa. Of course things are not always puppies and rainbows. There's always some drama and this drama is after Rowen. Such a good book. I loved it.

Great Story, but.....
I was perplexed as to get this audiobook or not. I had listened to everything of LLV on audiobook but book one of this series I wasn't impressed with. From listening to the audio sample and then reading then reading reviews I decided Not to get it.. until now.
I enjoyed the storyline like usual but narration wasn't up to par.
The female narrator was okay but robotic in some areas & very slow throughout which I had to keep adjusting the speed of narration. Between the male & female narrators I would speed it up for female then take it back to normal speed for male... very frustrating and it takes the enjoyment of an audiobook.
