Publisher's Summary
An ordinary snapshot causes a mother’s world to unravel in an instant. After picking up her two young children from school, Grace Lawson looks through a newly developed set of photographs. She finds an odd one in the pack: A mysterious picture from perhaps twenty years ago, showing four strangers she can’t identify. But there is one face she recognizes—that of her husband, from before she knew him.
When her husband sees the photo that night, he leaves their home and drives off without explanation. She doesn’t know where he’s going, or why he’s leaving. Or if he’s ever coming back. Nor does she realize how dangerous the search for him will be. Because there are others interested in both her husband’s past and that photo, including Eric Wu: A fierce, silent killer who will not be stopped from finding his quarry, no matter who or what stands in his way.
Her world turned upside down, filled with doubts about her herself and marriage, Grace must confront the dark corners of her own tragic past as she struggles to learn the truth, find her husband, and save her family.

Good story- most pathetic narration by female ever
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Without a doubt I would change the female narrator. She absolutely ruined the book. It grated on my nerves so badly that I had to listen in short bursts.
Would you recommend Just One Look to your friends? Why or why not?
I love Harlan Coben's standalone books - he is one of the greatest out there in my opinion, but I would not recommend this audio book to anyone. The female narration absolutely ruined the audiobook. I would have to recommend that one read the book on this occasion and that is rare for me. I'm a diehard audiobook lover - just have never experienced a read this bad.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Angela Dawe and Luke Daniels ?
Anyone at all instead of Angela Dawe and I really didn't care for Luke Daniels either. My favorite is Dick Hill and there are lots of wonderful female narrators out there.
Was Just One Look worth the listening time?
Not with the female narration. Read the book.
Any additional comments?
Great story from Coben - please improve the narration on subsequent books.

I Want My Credit Back!
The female narrator is awful! Staccato sentences and nothing flowed. A fifth grader could read this book better. What were the director and editors thinking??? Whomever was responsible for proofing the audio version needs to find another profession. I love Coben's novels, alas I'll never find out how this one ends. If you must read "Just One Look" buy the abridge version maybe you can get to the end. I'm bummed!

Just Shoot Me
Ordinarily, I thoroughly enjoy Harlan Coben's books, but listening to this is pure torture. Angela Dawe's narration is just as bad as other reviewers have said (God, I wish I'd read those reviews instead of buying this book blind!). Here's the problem: Ms. Dawe's feels compelled to end almost every declarative sentence with a two-syllable lift-drop in her inflection . . . even when the sentence ends in a monosyllabic word. Thus, "Jack" becomes "Jaa-ack" and "home" becomes "hoo-ome." It is absolutely maddening. (Strangely, Ms. Dawe's speaks normally when she is reading quotations.) I'm curious to know how the book turns out -- the portions read by Luke Daniels are intriguing -- but I just don't know if I can stand to continue.

the Narrator needs to listen to this book too
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Angela Dawe may be totally unaware of how she sounds. It's so incredibly irritating. It's not just an accent or a style. She makes all one-syllable words into two syllables.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I only got about half an hour in before i wanted to punch my ears in the face
How could the performance have been better?
I feel badly saying she stank, but dude, it was bad. She should go back and listen.

Fingernails on a blackboard...for 12 hours?
First, let me say that I love Harlan Coben's books. His characters are always so rich and fully "fleshed out". Unfortunately, I was unable to finish this book, or even get passed the first 15 minutes. I have belonged to audible since Day One, and having listened to nearly 800 books, never encountered a narrator that made me look for the mute button before this. Her voice is somewhat screechy, with an accent reminiscent of a south-side Jersey moll trying to sound British. Plus, her inflections at the end of every sentence are so annoying, that I kept hoping she would tire, and just speak normally- especially when there was no action or drama to warrant her excitement. Fingernails on a blackboard have always made me cringe, and listening to this came really close for me. Sorry Audible, I'll just have to Kindle it.

Bad female reader
What did you like best about Just One Look? What did you like least?
The story seems to be good. I'm still listening. I really don't like to criticize the readers as I always think they are doing the best that they can. Sadly, I feel compelled to comment on this as the female narrator made the book unbearable. She added an unnecessary syllable at the end of every sentence. So every single syllable word became two. And I mean every word. It was and still is horrible as I want to finish the book but I must continue to listen to this woman. I have never had a book ruined before because of a reader and I'm really sorry to say, this is the first.
Don't the directors listen to the readers before publishing? It would seem to me that there is an audition as in any production first. Is she related to someone? It just doesn't make sense as any person can hear her strange reading pattern. Anyway, I will finish the book as I'm enjoying the storyline. But I will make sure that I never listen to a book from this reader again.
What didn’t you like about Angela Dawe and Luke Daniels ’s performance?
I've said it previously.

I couldn't listen another minute!
Would you try another book from Harlan Coben and/or Angela Dawe and Luke Daniels ?
I would never listen to another book narrated by Angela Dawe, no matter what the story or whom the author. Her narration was terrible! Beyond annoying, I couldn't stand the first hour and had to shut it off.
Would you be willing to try another book from Harlan Coben? Why or why not?
I will try another book if there is another narrator.
How could the performance have been better?
Get a new narrator!
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
The story might have been great but I couldn't stand listening.

The narrator can sure make or break a book
The story is interesting, Luke Daniels was good but Angela Dawe just ruined it for me. I'd advise reading this one. Such a pity as I really love Coben's other audible books. Looked forward to enjoying this one and didn't.

Narrator ruins the audiobook
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Without Angela Dawe`s whining voice to irritate you, it would deserve a better rating.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The plot was good
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Angela Dawe and Luke Daniels ?
Luke Daniels was fine. I would advise Angela Dawe to find another occupation, or get treated by a speech pathologist before making another attempt at narrating a book.
Was Just One Look worth the listening time?
Yes, not withstanding the feeling of discomfort every time A.D. read her part.
Any additional comments?

Miserable female narration.
What did you like best about Just One Look? What did you like least?
I liked the plot best. I liked the female narration least. My rating would have been higher without her doing the narration.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes, when I could get past her dreadful narration. By switching parts of the story.
What didn’t you like about Angela Dawe and Luke Daniels ’s performance?
Luke Daniels was just fine. Angela Dawe---do the people who hire the narrators listen to them read?! She sounds as if she ordered a semi full of paperweights and clunked one down on the end of each sentence. I had to increase the narration speed so I could tolerate her reading and find out what happened in the audiobook.
Do you think Just One Look needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Yes. Unanswered questions. Just DON'T have Angela Dawe narrate. I won't go near it if she does.
Any additional comments?
I love Harlan Coben's work. Too bad it had to be compromised by the female narration.
