Publisher's Summary
Welcome back to Grace Valley, California, where the best things in life never change…
Here in this peaceful community, folks look out for one another like family, though sometimes a little too well. In a town like this, it's hard to keep a secret - but Dr. June Hudson has managed to keep one heck of a humdinger…. Though visits from her secret lover, undercover DEA agent Jim Post, are as clandestine as they are passionate, somehow it fits with her demanding schedule as the town's doctor - a calling that requires an innate ability to exist on caffeine, sticky buns and nerves of steel.
But how can a secret lover compete with a flesh-and-blood heartthrob from her past? June's old flame has just returned to town after twenty years - and he's divorced. June is seriously rattled. So when the town's most devoted wife takes buckshot to her husband and some human bones turn up in her aunt Myrna's backyard, she's almost happy for the distraction.
Sooner or later, love will have its way in Grace Valley. It always does.

Robyn Carr Does It Again!
This is the 2nd book in the Grace Valley Trilogy. It was just as good as the 1st. Therese Plummer as always, was amazing! This story has a lot of things going on around the town at one time. I wish that instead of squeezing everything into 3 books that she could have drawn it out a little more. I LOVE the Virgin River Series and this Trilogy is just like it with different people. Definitely worth the credit, especially if you like Virgin River!

Story of the heart
Robyn Carr's delightful story of Grace Valley has kept me from all other duties wanting to know how it all pans out. Just like her Virgin River series I found myself willing things to happen that i suspected would happen but needed the detail filled in to get there. I have enjoyed listening and Therese Plummer's voice makes me feel like I'm there watching the story unfold.

Small Towns Were Never More Exciting
What did you love best about Just Over the Mountain?
The way the story showed some of the underlying life stories that go on in a small town without the majority knowing.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Lee for the way he kept in touch with the doctor even when whe had no idea he would call
Have you listened to any of Therese Plummer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I honestly love the performances of Therese Plummer with her precise enunciation and her arsonal of voices.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The story made me laugh almost all the way through.

Not really a romance...
Readers of Virgin Valley series by same author will recognize the style, but not the romance, because it was distant--literally.
This is more a pastoral description of a country doctor's life, and not so much the medical portion, but the personal side of her life focusing more on the mystery of the bones found in her aunt's backyard. Features the usual eccentric characters and their daily dramas. Periodically we hear from the doctor's distantly stationed boyfriend.
But my romantic sense felt flat in this book.
If you haven't read the first book in this series (like me), you will get updated with one-line sentances that apparently featured large in the previous book. But you might feel rushed, as did I.
While I have given 8 of the Robyn Carr books in the Virgin Valley books solid "4s", this one was disappointing. The characterizations were solid, the large cast of characters and the many small town dramas were interesting. Its not a bad book. Its just not a romance.
Terese Plummer is reliable as the voice for Robyn Carr.

Great Second Book
If you could sum up Just Over the Mountain in three words, what would they be?
This book continues where the first book left off. I felt like I had been gone for a little vacation but the people of Grace Valley were still there waiting to pick right back up.
What about Therese Plummer’s performance did you like?
I love everything about the narrator. Easy to listen to and enjoyable voice.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. I want to stretch it out so I can enjoy it longer.
Any additional comments?
I needed the second book. There are a lot of characters introduced in the first book. It sometimes get a little difficult keeping tjhem all straight but I love how each one has a unique personality and set of circumstances.

I enjoy book 2 also.my favorite is Junes dad he is funny, still not a virgin river listen. This series have more tragic moments and not so perfect people. Seem to focus on abused women, most of the population is older but funny. Definally not stand alone books because of ending should be listen in order.
