Publisher's Summary
Kelly pulled into the harbor parking lot next to the pier and noticed that Amber's car wasn't in its usual place, and there was no sign of her. She was usually standing at the door of Kelly's Koffee Shop, waiting for Kelly to open up. "Wonder what that's all about," she thought.
The local residents of Cedar Bay come to Kelly's Koffee Shop for breakfast, lunch, and lots of gossip. Kelly serves it all up as she works to solve the murder of the high school Homecoming Queen. The townspeople can't believe what has happened in their sleepy little Oregon seaside town. She identifies five prime suspects, but which one did it?
Follow Kelly; her boxer dog, Rebel; and her boyfriend, Mike, the county sheriff, as they try to determine who the killer is in a murder that's shocked the town. Kelly's Coffee Shop is a mouth-watering cozy mystery with recipes! Learn more about Dianne's other books at DianneHarman.com

A Great First Installment!
I enjoy this series because it's a very lighthearted & enjoyable cozy listen. Kelly seems to not being able to resist the urge to snoop when her goddaughter is found dead, and it lands her in some prickly situations. Her boyfriend Mike, the sheriff, follows police procedure and sticks to the resources he has, but at the end of the day it's no match for the wealth of information that Kelly can drum up from patrons of her coffee house. It was a great listen, and I look forward to book 2 in this series!

Great Book!
Any additional comments?
This is a great book; this is the first book in the Cedar Bay Mystery series written by Dianne Harman and narrated by Erin deWard. Kelly runs the Kelly’s Koffee Shop in Cedar bay. The local residents come to eat and gossip. When the high school homecoming queen is killed. Kelly, along with her dog, and boyfriend Mike, the local sheriff determine to solve the case.
The narrator Erin deWard did a great job with this book. She did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to in one sitting and I didn’t want to stop listening until the end.
If you are looking for a great book with well-developed characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator.

Stilted dialogue, not realistic
Am from the Oregon coast so was looking forward to the series. But after a couple hours couldn't finish. Setting and main character seemed interesting but too many times thought the conversation and things that happened just didn't ring true. Lots of books in this series so may be wrong, and this is just a formula cozy, not Shakespeare or Christie. Might just be a rough start, but found it reminded me too much of Joanne Fluke's strange and silly style.

Cherish your time with a good book
I enjoyed this book. It contained plenty of suspects to keep you guessing as the main character worked to solve the mystery. It is a light hearted mystery that has a strong message at the end, that might just bring a tear to your eye. I liked the characters, especially Rebel the well behaved dog and the small town setting, resulting everybody thinking they know everybody else's business. The mystery was interesting and for someone who had no enemies the main character sure had a lot of suspects to eliminate. Hope the rest of the series makes its to audio and with the same narrator.
Kelly the local owner of the coffee shop is understandably upset when the teenage body of her employee is pulled out of sea, it doesn't help that Amber was also her god daughter. Dating the police sheriff and working in the coffee shop where everybody comes to gossip puts her in the ideal place to pick up clues. Can she help eliminate some of the suspects in order to catch the killer? There are five suspects topping the list from a retired doctor to a high school coach, to a jealous friend and even her own boyfriend and his father but just who would have a big enough reason to killer the teenager with a bright future ahead of her.
I liked the narrator and hope she sticks with the series, as I found her easy to understand and bubbly.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
