Story
The latest groundbreaking tome from Tim Ferriss, the number-one New York Times best-selling author of The 4-Hour Workweek. For the last two years, I've interviewed more than 200 world-class performers for my podcast, The Tim Ferriss Show. The guests range from super celebs (Jamie Foxx, Arnold Schwarzenegger, etc.) and athletes (icons of powerlifting, gymnastics, surfing, etc.) to legendary Special Operations commanders and black-market biochemists. For most of my guests, it’s the first time they’ve agreed to a two-to-three-hour interview.

Publisher's Summary
What will you learn from this audiobook?
Tackling nine specific financial myths, Killing Sacred Cows is a must for mission-driven individuals. It plainly reveals these shocking truths kept hidden by the traditional financial industry:
- A 401(k) is not the "safe" and "smart" plan that you have been told it is; in fact, it's an extremely risky investment for most people. Learn to create safer investments that are collateralized, cash-flowing, controllable, and aligned with your expertise, passion, and purpose.
- Conventional retirement planning strategies, techniques, and products are probably keeping you from the retirement you really want. You can maximize the productivity of your resources, reduce risk, and retire well with the right education and a proper macroeconomic plan.
- Net worth is a poor indicator of wealth and your ability to retire well. What matters is cash flow, and this book will teach you how to develop it.
- Debt may not be what you think it is. Learn the proper definition of debt and how this understanding can immediately increase your prosperity.
- "High risk equals high returns" is dangerous dogma. Learn how to increase your returns and reduce your risk through smart, value-based investing.
- How to identify the hidden factors that are causing you financial pain and misery.
- Finally, you can treat more than just symptoms and address root causes.

Great Information, A bit of Upsell
Pros: Great information and philosophies that when embraced can reshape the way you view money and life. I definitely recommend it overall.
Cons: He's not a narrator, so throughout the book he reads very quickly through stuff which makes it hard to fully understand what was previously said. He upsells his websites at least 20 times per chapter and it's kind of frustrating. We typically don't BUY a book to be upsold on more of your products that heavily.
TLDR;
Would I recommend?
- Yes. It's a Wonderful mindset shifter.
Who is it for?
- Everyone. Particularly those who want to learn new ways to look at money.
What would I change?
- Slower Reading.
- No upselling, or at least way less.

Very basic and overly verbose - way too long
this is basically know your “soul purpose” with a billion quotes which really lengthen this book more than it should and make it way to long. I would say instead of reading this book find your own soul purpose (which this book does not help with). Just a general concept of if it of “if it brings value for you personally then do it”. The financial advice is very basic like debt is only debt if it does not help you produce and make sure your assets are greater than debt on balance sheet. The person he quotes most is rich dad poor dad. So save yourself 8 hours and read that book instead. I pretty much summed up the 8 long hours of this book. The only decent chapter on its own (though also very verbose) is don’t self ensure and benefits of a whole life insurance instead of a term life insurance - also better to have home insurance. While I know this he does a good job explaining in basic terms. Bingo that is the whole book. Be a producer instead of a consumer. Save your self some “opportunity cost of lost time” and move on past this book. I left setting on 1.5x speed last couple of chapters to get through. Still too verbose. Analogies and quotes are an effective tool but not when it fills over half of the book. Could have been about 4 chapters at best based on real content and instead the author made it 9+ long repetitive chapters. And also beware every chapter weaves in a commercial to go to his companies website (to sell his services)
