Gryph entered the Realms with one mission, to save his sister Brynn. He didn’t want friends. He didn’t want responsibilities. He didn’t want to care. But even the best-laid plans go awry, and after escaping a sentient dungeon and defeating a would-be world conqueror, Gryph is no closer to finding Brynn. Then, while mourning the tragic death of a friend and grappling with the burdens of leadership, an ally, thought long dead, returns offering the slimmest of hopes.

It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

Accidentally murdered by a cleric in another universe during a botched resurrection, Arnold, a semi-pro gamer, wakes upon an altar to find himself incarnated into the overweight body of a farmer who could have been his fatter twin. After his town is put to the sword and the children are taken to replace the fallen, an old man is out for revenge. He’s ready to fail at the most difficult challenge in the world: cultivation. Too corrupted to even take the first steps, the sly old elder simply agreed with those who told him that it was impossible. Then, he quietly ignored them, rubbed his hands together, and started anyway. He had always failed in what he did. The only thing that had never failed him was his sharp mind and philosophy. He would cultivate...no matter what it cost him.

Hooray for angry not-quite-dwarves!
Good story and narration!
This is the story of what Lex was up to while Gryph was running around in books one and two. This one was a riot as an angry and distraught not-dwarf gets stuck in a time loop and struggles to get free.
Made me laugh out loud.

That was amazing!!
I consider Audible a maze of nearly infinite possibilities. For years now I’ve searched this maze on a weekly basis to find the treasure of that one magical combination of author and narrator that sets my heart on fire. That perfect mix of storyline that tugs at the emotions, that evokes thought and captivates me. I search for one simple thing, a series that I can listen to repeatedly and enjoy every damn time. I’ve only found this in three other authors, and with this read I proudly add a forth.
I have 138 books in my audible library and have listened to thousands of hours of entertainment from various authors. While some titles are a fun read, few have the honor of being among my top 5. Honestly I haven’t even found a top 5. This author has earned the privilege of being my number four. This book was funny, sad, thought provoking, violent and cruel. All the things I love in a read and more. It was unpredictable and made me yell at the author in anger when something crappy happened and praise him when his wit came from and unexpected angle.
Just listen to it.

a litrpg version of groundhog day!
this third installation of the realms took an old idea and gave it a rather interesting twist with a LitRPG flair.
Armen Taylor again manages to bring the characters to life with talented narration and voice acting. not as action heavy as previous books in the series but a welcome reintroduction to Lex.

I've already finished book 3?
It's hard to believe that I have already blasted my way through the third novel in this amazing series.
This novel provides an amusing break from the main character whilst still adding a massive amount of narrative and detail to the Realms. I felt that it was a perfect diversion and Lex is a brilliant character to have focused on and fleshed out in such a way. Not only has it elevated him into more than just a supporting character but it also meant that the Realms could be explored and described in a much more amusing way.
The narrator's performance as Lex was great and the difference between the voice of Lex and that of Gryph helped this novel stand out in its own. I wouldn't mind being stuck in a time loop if I got to listen to these books over and over again 😂

A very enjoyable way to pull a character back in.

doesn't disappoint
I wasn't sure when I picked this up if I would enjoy it as much as the first two in the series as it switched focus to what had been, upto now, a secondary character in the story. I'm pleased to say that I wasn't disappointed and for me is probably the most entertaining so far. A good dose of humour and a well told take kept me hooked throughout. It is also very well narrated, better than the first two books in my opinion but that comes down to everyone's own preferences of course.

Most enjoyable of the series so far!
At first I wasn't interested in hearing a tale about Lex, but now I wouldn't mind if he was the protagonist of the whole series!
