Publisher's Summary

She came here for protection, but that’s the last thing she's going to find.

Welcome to Corium University, where the most dangerous criminals in the world send their offspring. Assassins, mafia leaders, arms dealers, and art thieves—you name it, this college houses them. Nothing can touch us here.

The only rule: No one can die. I knew she would be here.

Aspen was my enemy in every shape of the word. A liar, a thief. I wanted revenge for my family, revenge against her father. I knew the rules. Knew I couldn’t kill her, but I could hurt her. I could make her wish she never came to Corium. She wasn’t made for this place.

If she thought the university was the only nightmare she would have to face, she was wrong. I was the king, and this was my kingdom.

King of Corium is a new adult, enemies-to-lovers, dark romance that contains dark themes, including dub-con, and non-con. It is not a stand-alone novel.

Arghhhhh

This is the first book I've read/listened to by J.L. Beck and C. Hallman. It is DARK. Possibly the darkest I've read/listened to so far. My heart broke for Aspen. I cried for her. I cannot get over what I've just heard. Quinton has a L-O-N-G way to go to earn my trust? Respect? Heart? Can I get over this beginning to get there? He did waver about how he and the others treated Aspen, somewhat. But let's face it. He raped Aspen. Because this is fantasy, I'll put it in a little box and set it aside for now. The rest of the storyline has me intrigued. I'm dying for answers. And that cliffhanger!!! It was brutal. The wait for the next audiobooks is painful. Trying to decide if I want to go read them first!

I want to add that at first, I almost turned the audiobook off thinking I was about to listen to a copycat story. I was grumbling in my head that I couldn't believe how close this was to another series I've read. But it's NOT. Not really. It became all it's own shorty after it started. Glad I stuck with it.

Conner Brown and Zara Eden are excellent narrators. They were perfect for this book. Their performances made this audiobook roll like a movie in my head. So easy to listen to for longer periods of time!!

Very Dark

I didn't mind the darkness of this story but the narration of Aspen was hard to listen to. It's breathy the while way through. I said I wasn't gonna listen to book two but the cliff hanger got me.

King Of Corium

King of Corium is one the least favorite dark romances. The plot is super good. A school of mafia kids and the two most infamous ones are bound to meet. The potential is there but not found.

Would you make a deal with the devil

The last thing you want to be labeled in a school for the children of the most notorious criminals is a rat. That is is how Aspen finds herself when she enters Corium University. That’s where is meets the alphahole son of the baddest of guys, Quinton. Aspen makes a deal for her safety but the bullying is relentless and from all angles.

If you have an itch for DARK bully romance, alphaholes, angst and a tough as nails heroine this will certainly scratch that itch.

The narration is fantastic!

Ummm

I get it, it’s a dark romance but jeez this girl has a serious case of Stockholm Syndrome. Quinn is a pretty sick and twisted guy and Adele is like boiled and unseasoned chicken breast. I think all of the woman are so poorly written. Adele literally has no skills, she’s not a badass, cannot do a thing for herself. I love how the author keeps mentioning that she’s smart when the only sign of her true intelligence is when she said “I thought we were becoming equals” after she was choked out by Quinn. Haha like yes, this guy has been repeatedly assaulting you and the moment he’s a tad bit nice you think you two are becoming equals!?!? Quinn’s sister, scarlet, is 15 years but acts like she’s 10. Ana, a Russian babe who sounds so cool is written to be some horrid creature. Also, love how Quinn called Adele’s mind “slimy” because of the whole bracelet incident and she might use it as blackmail one day……Sir….you’ve been sexually assaulting this woman the entire serious and HER MIND IS SLIMY!? Would’ve been a much better book if we got to see more of Brittany and if Adele was actually cool and kicked some ass, forcing people to respect her.

Dark Romance

I usually like a good dark romance but this one was a bit much! My heart broke for Aspen! I wouldn’t want to live if I were her, maybe that’s why she has a bad case of Stockholm syndrome? I just wanted this book to be over and said I wouldn’t get book 2, BUT that cliffhanger got me to buy it!

Bully Romance ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

King of Corium is a dark bully romance that is set in a exclusive boarding school and it will contain dark themes that might cause triggers for some people. This is the first book in this new series so there is a cliffhanger.
I enjoyed this book! It follows Aspen and Quinton. Aspen is the daughter of a former arms dealer who betrayed Quintons dad. Don't want to give too much away so give it a try if you're into bully romance.

Fantastic dark romance bully trilogy

This is a trilogy, and this is the first book in the story between Aspen and Quinton, and I loved it, it was a fantastic bully dark college romance, just the way these talented authors can write. The story had me hooked from the start, I devoured the story in no time, of course there is a cliffy and you need to get to the next one asap. The audiobook narrated by Zara Eden and Connor Brown was brilliant, I loved each minute, it was very well paced, pronunciation and character portrayal was on point, editing and sound was well done.

The sins of the father

The old line the sins of the father will be visited upon is true especially when it comes to Aspen Mathers. He father is a snitch which is the unthinkable in the mafia world. Forced to attend Corium University for a safety but also around kids of the mafia who see the crime her father committed on her well they make her life hell. Quinton is the leader he uses and abused Aspen in the most terrible ways possible. The other students abuse her as well and she takes it the adults at this school are terrible to her as well going as far as not giving her food. The Cliffhanger is shocking because Quinton who seems to developed feelings for Aspen is betrayed by his best friend. Looking forward to listening to book two in this series.

Fantastic!

I loved the book and the world it created. The menace of Corium, and its inhabitants, is visceral. Aspen is like a lamb among wolves! Both Zara Eden and Connor Brown bring the intensity of the book to life, from the beginning to the cliffhanger ending . I was completely immersed, enjoying the journey as Aspen negotiates her tricky path of survival in such hostile waters! 💖💖💖💖💖

King of Corium

What the hell, your sorry really. I'm hating this. Now to wait to what happen to her. Why did Ren do that? I really thought he was helping. Omg and Q really has feelings for her. Man is he going to feel like shit. I can't wait for the next book. I need to know what happens. The narrator's did a really great job too.

Aspen is sent to a special school so that she would be protected. But this protection comes at a cost and being in a living hell is the cost that Aspen will pay. When she saw Q, she knew her hell would be even worse.

Intriguing and Very Entertaining!

King of Corium is a dark and twisted story about about a university where the children of the most dangerous criminals go for their education. At the center of the story is Aspen, who was sent to Corium because she is no longer safe anywhere else due to the actions of her father. Unfortunately, those same actions make her the most hated person at Corium, leaving a huge target on her back.

Quinton is Aspen's biggest enemy as as his family was hurt the most by Aspen's father. Somewhere along the way though, targeting Aspen changes for him and their relationship becomes something different. Instead of being the person she should fear most, he becomes the one that can provide her the most protection...but everything comes with a cost.

This story hooked me from the start. It was intriguing, creative and just extremely engaging. It definitely has darker themes, but I don't shy away from those, so it didn't stop me. The audiobook was absolutely fantastic. Zara Eden and Connor Brown did a truly wonderful job with the narration of this story line. They were very pleasant to listen to and made the perfect Quinton and Aspen. I truly enjoyed listening as Aspen and Quinton's relationship evolved over the course of the story, particularly as Quinton changed. I didn't know going in that this was part of a trilogy so it definitely does end on a cliffhanger and now I am DYING to dive into book two. #PinkFlamingoProductions #TheFlock

Cliffhanger Alert!!

Despite her best judgement Aspen went to Corium, her mom says it's the safest place for her. HOWEVER... is it really? It sure doesn't seem like it. The bullying is brutal and never ending.

I won't give any spoilers but this book is not for the faint of heart. It is dark and sinister at times.

Quinton is in charge, no questions asked. That doesn't mean he always knows what is happening when he isn't around.

I loved Q and Aspen so much, the connection is obvious, the hurt is devastating and the passion is fire!

I loved this book and can't wait to see what happens next, this can't be the end. There's no way I will survive it if it is. This is my first book by these authors and I can't wait to read more. I definitely got sucked into this world and can't wait to see where this story takes me. I'm 100% invested!

I won't give any spoilers away but the ending was brutal, heartbreaking, shocking, and definitely had my jaw on the floor! That was intense. I am so ready for book 2!

Zara Eden and Connor Brown were amazing in this book! They were perfect for Aspen and Q!

Long awaited.

I have been waiting for this audio and it was well worth the wait. The narrators did an amazing performance and now live in my head. The performance really fit what I pictured when I read the story. This is such a riveting story, and the characters are multi dimensional. The dialogue is pretty hot and keep you attached.

Loved it!

King of Corium kept me on the edge of my seat from the beginning all the way to that cliffhanger ending. It is intense, dangerous, violent and addictive. There are lots of triggers in this story so it's not for everyone. Aspen is a character that I can sympathize with but, so far, Quinton seems to have no redeeming qualities. I can't wait to see how their story continues in the next book. Zara Eden and Connor Brown both did an excellent job bringing this story to life.
