Complete quests, install new features, establish a crew.

Atlantis existed and the faction from our legends loved Earthlings. They departed, forgetting about Earth as we changed. A new faction sees our inferior species destroying the planet. They claim Earth as theirs, opening portals to flood the oceans to above 7000' in less than a minute.

Zack is riding a rented jet ski in Florida when the apocalypse happens. He saves a damsel in distress, discovers freaky sea monsters, and established a raft city as per the guidance of the overlords he desperately wants revenge on. Zack must save the desperate, improve his base, and use the Atlantean reward system to bide his time.

Fun book

In all honesty the book was more like 4 stars, there were a couple issues but i never felt bored and I just liked it more than 4 so it gets a 5

Base building but not LitRPG

Overall, the story was mediocre at best. The tagline of this being a LitRPG apocalypse book was heavily misleading. The performance is the only somewhat saving grace of the entire experience. If you are looking for base-building Lit RPG apocalypse book like I was, you have come to the wrong place. While this story is very heavily rooted in base-building (this being the only driving force of the plot), the rpg theme is arbitrary and virtually non existent to the story. The ONLY time when stats showed even a modicum of importance to anything, is on the likelihood of a woman becoming pregnant. There is no leveling up or increasing personal stats at all through the book. Besides being mentioned when reading out an individuals stats determined by an unknown scale which nobody questions, stats are unimportant.

The characters are relatively unbelievable in how they react. Everyone and everything they ever know and love has been destroyed in 1 minute. The MC never expresses any form of sadness, regret, or grief for his loss. He never comments on how lucky he is for being on a jet ski at just the right time to save his life. The heroine of the story is the only person we see who had a legitimate reaction to what happened by going into shock and not being able to accept what happened. At least for the first few hours after what happened, then she is all gung-ho and lovey dovey with the MC. Nobody seems to have any form of PTSD, anxiety, depression or other issues with what happened to them.

While sex can definitely move the plot forward when used correctly, in this book it failed. There are nearly a 1/2 dozen graphically detailed scenes that had no point except as filler to make the story longer than it otherwise would have been. The book could have been shortened by about 45 minutes if this was taken out. The only thing that was added as a result of this, was to allow for the MC and others to find out an individuals chances of becoming pregnant and to show that the MC and main heroine are now a couple.

The girl on the cover is relatively unimportant to the story. She gets put into the role of extra side character with the foreknowledge she will only stick around for a short period of time. The only benefit she brings is to give the MC additional information he might not have been made aware of. Maybe this side character will have a more important role in the 2nd book, but who knows.

Not bad but..

I enjoyed this for the most part. But I found andeera or whatever the atlanteans name was to be a useless character and a waste on the cover. She really wasn’t important to the story and was just a distraction to the story.

I enjoyed this Audible more than the Visual Novel on Steam.
If there is ever a book 2 I will buy that one as well

Nope

Weak story with forced characters doing things that have no reasonable justification. At least any adult would not be doing. This is supposed to be apocalyptic style book, but what we get is a CW soap opera with clueless weak supporting characters.

An interesting story

First off the narration is wonderful with both narrators doing a fantastic job. You can really feel the story come to life from them and it makes it that much better. The story is an interesting take on the genre. It’s engaging and continues to make you want to listen the whole way through. Another great story.

this as just another great entry from Sloss. and as always the dual narration brings the story a life that you don't get from solo narration.

These narrators are incredible! Following.

Great new narrating duo, they really bring this scenario to life, nice to know I can just filter by narrator and be confident in a good listen! The story is exciting and satisfying, a nice progression/survival story with plenty of promise for a sequel; I can't wait!

Another Great Marcus Sloss novel.

Big fan of Marcus Sloss and especially his Gryff the Griffin Rider and this series could be just as good if not better.

Really enjoyed the way the world is developing here with the post-apocalyptic futurist world which see's humanity all but wiped out as the oceans have risen due an alien race. The main character is put in an almost impossible situation by his new Atlantean overlords as the treat him as less than a citizen as he attempts to free more humans in containment whilst also trying to gain some fragment of power to resit the ruling faction.

First team I've listened to the two narrators Ellory Lane and Ben Hart and thought they did an excellent job with this book and hope to hear them in future novels.

Good Series Starter

Another great series opener from Marcus Sloss. An Interesting mix of a Waterworld style environment with gaming and base-building elements. The Narration Duo are good as well and I will be looking forward to more works by them as well.
