Story
I was only a boy when I saw my mother murdered in front of me. That does something to a man. It turns him hard, cold, and makes him an addict for control. In all things. My desires are dark and what I'm interested in is far more than simple submission. I've been waiting for someone as broken as me. Someone who truly needs to give up complete control and rely on me to take away her pain. And then I found her. Katia. My kitten. The moment I laid eyes on her gorgeous face, full lips, and seductive curves, she stole the air from my lungs.

Zane Phillips mistook me for his dog walker. It shouldn’t surprise me that the man with a suit more expensive than my rent would assume that I was there to serve him. The positive? I put him in his place. The negative? I missed my job interview because of it. Now I find out he’s a rich Australian entrepreneur, and he wants to make up for tanking my interview. Yes, he’s impossibly hot - but he’s also an arrogant jackass - so...no thanks. But after a little white lie I tell spirals out of control, I’m somehow offered the chance to play Zane’s girlfriend to help promote his new dating website....

There are only two ways a human can cross the gates of Bloodstone Institute: as a familiar to one of the Blueblood vampires who attend the elite school or as a snack. I'm neither, but I have to get in at all costs. My brother made a big mistake, and now I have to fix it by stealing from the most powerful and cruel vampire to ever come to Bloodstone, Lucca Della Morte. If that wasn't almost suicidal, I need to get it done before the spell concealing my human nature wears off.

On the run from ruthless killers, I’m down to 10 bucks in my wallet and a half-tank of gas in my ancient car when I spot the ad for a live-in tutor. The job sounds like the answer to my prayers, but there’s a catch. The child’s father is the most beautiful, most dangerous man I’ve ever met. Darkly seductive and filthy rich, Nikolai Molotov is a tantalizing mystery, a lethally alluring contradiction. Bruised knuckles and tailored suits, tender endearments and dirty promises - my new employer draws me in like a magnet, even as my instincts scream for me to run.

WOW.... IT'S EVERYTHING YOU'RE NOT EXPECTING
Right from the start this book draws you in and the more drawn in you get the more mysterious, thrilling and unpredictable both the plot and Mia and King's dynamics become. King is ruthless, arrogant, a bad-ass and has a 'doesn't give a shit' attitude but somehow you can't help but be mesmerised by him. Mia is strong, caring and will go to any lengths to save her brother..... but she doesn't realise just what a frightening and nightmarish turn her life is going to take the more she is sucked into King's world
I won't even try to describe the plot except to say that nothing is as it seems and there's so many twists and turns you'll end up dazed. Don't expect romance because there isn't any but Mia somehow feels drawn to King and he puts his possessive mark on her however I don't think there will be any romance until maybe book 3. No, at the moment there's only been a few hot touches and body-to-body sizzles but nothing more.
It's told from Mia's POV by a very good Narrator who gives each characters a voice of their own and she manages to do male voices with ease. The deeper the plot pulls you in the more sinister and paranormal the story becomes and that's thrilling, chilling and very entertaining because, at the end of the book, you're left with more questions than answers. And the very very best thing is that you don't have to wait months to find out what unexpected twist Mimi Pamfiloff will throw in next because the whole Trilogy is available now..... and guess where I'm headed to next? Yup book 2.
Worth a credit? Expect the unexpected, have an open mind, don't look for an earth shattering romance or tender words yet and be prepared for a paranormal turn to the Trilogy. This book is the slow click click click as the roller coaster gently climbs to it's pinnacle and you're left hovering at the top desperately holding on with your pulse pounding waiting for the scary, thrilling and emotional ride that'll plunge you into the depths of the unknown. And, if you like the sound of all that, then you too will find this a creditworthy listen as I did.

King's The Boss
Mia Turner goes to Mexico in search of her brother who’s gone missing while on an archaeological dig, she’s barely closed the door to her hotel room, when a knock at the door produces two strange men who tell her in no uncertain terms to leave Mexico immediately or die and don’t even think about coming back. How rude!
As a last resort, she implores King to help her find out what happened to her brother and King is all too willing to help… for a price. Yep, the title says it all, King wants to own Mia Turner, lock stock and barrel. King is callous and uncaring as he effectively cuts Mia off from everything, demanding that she quit her job and just wait in his office, soon she out of money, her apartment and adding insult to injury, she is still brotherless. When Mia is just about to break under the pressure, King finally summons her to Mexico, umm… maybe Mia left out some important details about her previous visit to Mexico and maybe King will find he has a heart and that Mia’s not the only one getting owned.
I enjoyed this story so much, but I have to warn you this is a trilogy, so expected the dread cliffhanger and while some serious sparks fly between King and Mia there is no consummation of their relationship in this book. I found the story so engaging I didn’t miss it.
This was the first audiobook that I’ve listened to by the narrator, Helen Wick and I thought she did a wonderful job, the character voices were well defined and I had no problem discerning which person was speaking. The sound quality was excellent as well.

Unique, intriguing leaves you wanting more!!
The story unfolds from Mia's point of view. She spends the entirety of the book trying to figure out why she is drawn to King (is he a hero or a devil) and trying to decipher why she is drawn to him despite the darkness inside of him.
This narration is good. No irritating voices as Ms. Wick assumes her different roles.
I enjoy a good story .... and this story exhibits great writing, imagination and of course a budding romance between Mia and King.
This was credit worthy in my opinion ... but if you are looking for intimate sex scenes, obvious romance and a happily ever after you may have to wait for book three in this trilogy. Do not despair all three books are out on audio.
I highly recommend this book.

Not worth the time or money
I got this book based on the reviews and ratings but was severely disappointed. I can't finish the book and I'm not even the slightest bit curious about the ending.
The narrator does a decent job, I'd definately listen to her again. The story however, seems like one massive inner dialogue. Mia keeps thinking the SAME THING to herself OVER and OVER. While the concept of the story had potential, it is presented in such a convoluted way that it left me wondering what's real and what's not ... and not in a captivating or engaging way, SUPER confusing. Don't think I will get anything from this author again.

I'm back after finishing the third book.
I will give the most relevant details here that we all hope to find out before buying a book:
A. This is a series of three books
B. All three are free if you have Audible Romance
and C. This series rocked my world so much harder than I ever could have imagined it would have. I suppose one has to weigh the pros and cons; do you have several hours to listen and want to get lost in a story of freaking soulmates of an epic scale yet be lost for about 2 out of the 3 books? If your immediate answer is "heck no" than this probably isn't the series for you. That said, if you can handle some teasing and feeling as in the dark as Mia as well as handle some emotional turmoil while wondering what about this guy could ever be worth loving, you're on the right track! Don't worry though, I promise you it's worth it in the end. It's a lot of sadness and pain along the way though... the story of these two isn't what I thought it'd be where it's the typical girl dislikes the guy but falls anyway ordeal. It's so much more than that but to say more would spoil it entirely. The issue here is that the author has no way of keeping you around until book 3 since you're in the dark for a lot of the series about what's going on behind the scenes and things just aren't adding up. When I said we get teased as listeners it's no joke, patience will be required as well as either sociopathic tendencies like King has or plenty of tissues and maybe a place to listen where you can scream at the characters with no one around so you don't look like a loon. I haven't been so emotionally invested in characters in a while and these two made my heart ache for their story. They go through so very much and I just ask that if you think it too much or something, stick it out. It all makes sense in the end. This is like the very beginning and it's basically just getting to know the very basics but in reality, we learn next to nothing! like I said, a test of patience. The storytelling though... it blew me away in all three books which is why I listened to all three in less than 2 days and came back to rate the first book; I wanted people to know how freaking amazing this series is. Just prepare yourself for some intense occult stuff!

Ugh ended up fast forwarding
I got through all 3 books just because I like to finish what I start plus I was curious for the ending. But it steadily got dumber and dumber. I did see the resemblance from the fever series that everyone compares this to. But this is not even close to the imaginative world Karen M. Moaning created. This is incredibly amateurish. By the 3rd king book I was fast forwarding because Mimi made the characters more and more idiotic. I don’t know how many eye rolls I gave while listening to that sex scene. And it just feels like the author didn’t really give any thought to explaining why the characters are doing things so it just seems ridiculous and dumb.

I love King, but not Mia.
I really love the story and I love King the main male lead. He was just the right amount of dominant jerk and compassionate individual. however, I have a serious problem with Mia. I cannot stand stupid female lead characters, and she is clueless. I like submissive characters, but she was not that, at least not yet. I couldn't get past it, and stopped listening. I will definitely try this writer again, the writing was well done, the pacing and storytelling was good. The performance of the voice acting was excellent! The cadence and timing were perfect, with just the right amount of emotion. Thanks for the read.

finished despite myself
I read a review that compared this to a poor man's fever series, the only similarity was in both series I loathed the female lead. I almost gave up more than once but curiosity keep me going There were many good reviews so I moved on to King for a day because of Mack and King. good narrator though.

Intriguing hooks you on
Intriguing book that deals with one problem but opens up many more. Background romance adds to the story. Have to read the next book.
