Publisher's Summary

Which king liked to bathe while the band played Rule Britannia? Which queen was so fat she needed a hoist to get on the throne? Which prince shut his wife out of Westminster Abbey to prevent her from being crowned? Who was the blood-thirstiest monarch of them all?

Kings and Queens of England is a no-holds-barred account of the British monarchy with the gossip and gore left in, and nothing left out! It leaves no stone unturned in its mission to portray kings and queens as they really were, warts and all.

Factual. but slow and tedious.

Being a history text written for children ages 8+ I would have expected a little more pizzazz! There are so many exciting and wonderful parts of history that could capture the hearts of our children and give them a passion for history! Unfortunately this book failed to capture the magic of the past and simply droned on and on with the most basic of facts. If you need something to help you sleep, then this is it.

I am going through a period of England's monarchy

I am going through a period of England's monarchy and I have to say that this deals a little more in depth about the more obscure areas and characters. Bit it still gives a lot of weight to all the classics such as the Tudors. Mary. Elizabeth where as I am more interested in the obscures like The Conqueror and his brood of miscreants but all in all a damn fine bit of work to pass the hours trying to sleep.
