Publisher's Summary

Lady Calliope Manning is determined to punish the man she holds responsible for her beloved brother’s death.

She will do anything in her power to destroy him. When rumors swirl that the Earl of Sinclair requires a wealthy bride to rescue himself from dire financial straits, she seizes the opportunity to ruin him at last.

Justin “Sin” Vaughn, the Earl of Sinclair, needs to marry an heiress, and he needs to marry one now. But the sudden, anonymous publication of salacious memoirs rumored to be his obliterates his chances. With polite society convinced he is a murderer, he has only one choice: Find the person behind his supposed memoirs and get his revenge.

Callie never expected Lord Sinclair to discover she wrote Confessions of a Sinful Earl...nor to abduct her and demand restitution in the form of her own hand in marriage. She definitely did not expect to find him so difficult to resist.

Sin is about to teach the beautiful, perfidious Lady Callie a lesson in ruthlessness one scorching-hot kiss at a time.

Good, but narration by Thompson is a huge turn off and fail!

I am a huge fan of Scott’s books and looked forward to this one. Overall, the book was good but did have two big detractors. First, while Olivia Thompson’s narration of the text and lead character were good, her narration of other characters was quite horrible! It was a huge distraction and turn off especially when she narrated the voice of Sin. Her voices were ridiculously raspy and gravelly, even for other female characters. I’m actually quite shocked that this audio version with her bad voices would have been signed off on because it’s pretty terrible. John Lane’s narration was flawless as always and was a saving grace for being able to visualize Sin.

The second detractor of the book was a lack of true development in the story of how Sin and Callie could go so easily from hate to love. While efforts are made to address this, it’s all too quick and easy and there is not enough true emotional struggle given how things started between them. Also, the lack of deeper backstory for Sin as to how he fell to the levels of depravity that he did in his past was disappointing. There was more depth and development needed in those key points of the story line to truly pull you in.

Very Enjoyable

It was very interesting listening to two narrators. I liked there was a man and woman doing the audio.

I really enjoyed it all—give it a try

Some disliked the female narrator and others thought it was too slow, or too sexy, or not historical enough. True, the female narrator has a rough voice for male characters, but no worse than lots of other female narrators. It was not slow—it just is a love story requiring time to develop, and all the sweeter as each revelation and milestone occurred. It was sexy in a good way, well-written steamy and loving scenes of a couple discovering each other. I enjoyed it and will read more from this author and in this series. I encourage those not afraid of “mature” themes to try this. You won’t learn history but it was set in a period setting and that added to it.

EXCELLENT NARRATORS!!

Oh this is one hot sexy romance story. This is close to erotica!! But very well written and a great storyline.

Lady Callope Manning know as Callie to family and friends. Has published a series disparaging articles about Justin "Sin" Vaughn Earl of Sinclair. Callie has accused him of murdering his wife and her brother the Duke.

Justin Earl of Sinclair has been financially ruined and ostracized by Ton because of Callies lies. So he kidnaps her. This begins a very sensual tug of war between the two enemies. Justin make Callie marry him or he will expose her as the writers of the articles. Which will ruin her and her brother the Duke.

Callie and Justin slowly but surely fall in love. It takes time for them to trust and eventually fall in Love!! This is a beautifully written story.. The Sex is HOT HOT HOT!!
EXCELLENT AUDIBLE EDITION!!

Lady ruthless narrator!

I struggled to finish this, although the story line was good. Olivia Thompson was a horrible narrator! She was not a complement to John Lane or the story whatsoever! The growling and hissing during her parts were most uncomfortable, making each character she portrayed sound sinister and sleazy. If not for her I would've given the overall score many more stars!

Narration

I did enjoy the story. I would have preferred John Lane to have narrated the story completely.
Olivia Thompson would have done better narrating on her own.

A Struggle

I really did not like that this book was narrated by two different people. I would much rather it had been read entirely by John Lane only, as he was very good. Olivia Thompson's voice for Sin was TERRIBLE. I almost stopped listening multiple times. Her voice is pleasant enough, but her different characters just weren't that good. The only ones of hers that I liked were the leading lady and her brother and sister-in-law. Period.

The story was good enough that I will listen to the next book (Lady Wallflower), but but only because there are different narrators and because it's free in my Plus catalog right now. Hopefully it is better. Based on this book (Lady Ruthless), I probably would not have finished it and would have requested a refund after the first time Oliva Thompson spoke on it.

Quite nice.

I have always loved historical romance books, this was very good. From kidnapping to finding the truth behind all the lies and misunderstanding they work through. All their individual issues with their own personal issues, to the issues with each other...... the great intimacy and chemistry between the two main characters have not only made a great back story for each of them but the story of the two of them coming together. The book had a good flow throughout. Without being drug out or stagnate very good, would definitely recommend. Love the strong female lead and the strong but vulnerable male character. At times very strong sex areas but nothing (nasty). I think many of you will enjoy this story

Really difficult read

Too much gratuitous sex and violence to provide an interesting plot. I thought the summary provided an interest listening but this want the experience. Love/hate relationships filled with abuse just don’t provide any real or interesting content.
I listened, sort of, through chapter 15 hoping it would redeem itself by I quit. There was no way to identify or sympathize with either character or reader
Pleased this was an included book as I didn’t waste a credit or purchase price.
Perhaps if you are a follower of rather sadistic/masochistic literature you might find value in this book

o k story

Story was ok but wasn't too enamored with the female narrator, her voice wasn't what I expected.
I preferred Mr Lanes voice and so it spoilt it a bit for me.

potential

whilst the story has potential, I cannot stand to listen to the female narrator. Her male voice for the lead is horrendous, no tone and absolutely no character.
Couldn't make it past chapter 6

Standard but enjoyable story

I'm not really a fan of having multiple narrators and especially in this case - John Lane should've read it all! His chapters were a well read & his voice is a pleasure to listen to. By comparison, the other chapters were just awkward; had she been the only narrator, I suspect this wouldn't be the case.

3 stard

Olivia Thimpson's male voiced or even Joe's were not very good..
Too much sex in the last couple of chapters which did not really bring anything new and were not really needed for the story. Could have cut those scenes for sure

What did I just listen to

The story felt very fan fictiony? The words felt very awkward if you know what I mean?
The male narrator was pretty good and should have read the whole story because the female narrator took me out of it. Her impersonation of the male protagonist made me laugh because he sounded like an old man.

So enjoyed this book, lots of twists and turns in the story and a delicious amount of hot romping. Good job done by both narrators. I will be most definitely be listening to next book in series.

Engaging story - well written by author.

I enjoyed listening to audiobook and the use of both male and female narrators despite not liking the female narrator’s rendition of Sin.

There were a few unexpected twists which added interest and showed Sin to be just as much a gentleman as the debauched rake the salacious gossip papers made him out to be.

I recommend.
