Story
If churches are the dwelling place of God’s spirit, why are so many built around the strategies of man? Eager for growth, leaders can be lured by entertaining new schemes, forgetting doctrinal truth as their driving force. Churches must humbly lean on the sufficiency of God’s word. How to Build a Healthy Church challenges leaders to evaluate their motivations for ministry and provides examples of healthy, deliberate leadership. This is more than a step-by-step plan to mimic; it’s a biblical blueprint for pastors, elders, and anyone committed to the church’s vitality.

With the story of her conversion as a backdrop, Rosaria Butterfield invites us into her home to show us how God can use “radical, ordinary hospitality” to bring the Gospel to our lost friends and neighbors. Such hospitality sees our homes as not our own but as God’s tools for the furtherance of his kingdom as we welcome those who look, think, believe, and act differently from us into our everyday, sometimes messy lives - helping them see what true Christian faith really looks like.

How did the world arrive at its current, disorienting state of identity politics, and how should the church respond? Historian Carl R. Trueman discusses how influences ranging from traditional institutions to technology and pornography moved modern culture toward an era of “expressive individualism.” Investigating philosophies from the Romantics, Nietzsche, Marx, Wilde, Freud, and the New Left, he outlines the history of Western thought to the distinctly sexual direction of present-day identity politics and explains the modern implications of these ideas.

"Talk" seems so normal, so ordinary, so harmless. Yet there are few things we do that are more important. And underneath the normality of it all is a great struggle, a war of words that we fight every day. Who hasn't been hurt by the words of another? Who hasn't regretted something they said? Recognizing that words are powerful, Paul Tripp shows us how the gospel transforms the way we communicate. Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Word is the only hope for our words. In our war of words, he is the one who gives us the victory.

For much of recent history, individuals and institutions could plan, execute, and flourish with their visions of a better world. Volatile, complex forces could be addressed and confronted with planning and management. But crisis is a great revealer. It knocks us off our thrones. It uncovers the weaknesses in our strategies and brings to light our myths and idols. Our past strategies run aground, smashed by unpredictable and chaotic waves. Yet in the midst of the chaos of a crisis comes opportunity.

Publisher's Summary
The church has a leadership crisis. For every celebrity pastor exiting in the spotlight, there are hundreds of lesser known pastors leaving in the shadows. Why are so many pastors leaving the ministry?
Best-selling author Paul David Tripp suggests that lurking behind the failure of a pastor is a weak leadership community. Turning to the Scripture for guidance, Tripp presents listeners with 12 leadership-community principles necessary for a gospel-centered leadership model, making this an essential tool for anyone in church leadership. Here is a book with a message for the young and hopeful, as well as the experienced and weary — God’s abiding presence is your hope in ministry leadership.
“As is often said, everything rises or falls on leadership, including the family, the home, and the spiritual self. Dangerous Calling was eerily prophetic in its anticipation of the fall of a number of high-profile leaders, each one adding to the heartbreak of a church in a leadership crisis. I am grateful to see that conversation extended, and I hope many will not only read this book, but saturate themselves in the gospel it puts forward.” (J. D. Greear, President, Southern Baptist Convention; author, Not God Enough; Pastor, The Summit Church, Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina)
“Tripp’s books have been some of the most influential books in my life. Lead is no exception! You will find within the pages of this book practical, gospel-centered help as you lead and serve others.” (Jennie Allen, New York Times best-selling author, Get Out of Your Head; Founder, IF:Gathering)
“This book is the perfect complement to Tripp’s Dangerous Calling. The warning of ‘functional gospel amnesia’ captures so well why this book is needed. Leaders do not need more gimmicks. Leaders need more grace. They need more gospel.” (Daniel L. Akin, President, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary)

Southern Baptist mainstream garbage.
This book never defines who leader is!!!
Why not just use the word church instead of Gospel community? It’s Lifeway through and through. Terrible teaching very poor biblical illustrations.
Save yourself some time and pick up John MacArthur‘s book on leadership.

LEAD IS REAL RAW AND REDEMPTIVE
I believe LEAD by Paul David Trip needs three readings. The first because you think of others and the hurts. The second because you think of others and yourself. The third because you think of yourself and God. It takes you through the emotional journey of the redemptive work of God continuing in the life of ministry leaders.

Loved the book. even though I m not a a leader, this has opened my eyes to how I should view a leader, I.e. with Grace and compassion and not quick to judge when we feel wronged.
