Story
Don't waste your pain. None of us escapes the heartache and disappointments of life. To live is to hurt, and we all have the wounds to prove it. Regardless of how we've been hurt, we all face a common question: What should we do with our pain? Should we stoically ignore it? Should we just "get over it"? Should we optimistically hope that everything will work out in the end? If we fail to respond appropriately to the wounds that life and relationships inflict, our pain will be wasted; it will numb us or destroy us.

Do you want to be a better leader? Raise the threshold of your pain. Do you want your church to grow or your business to reach higher goals? Reluctance to face pain is your greatest limitation. There is no growth without change, no change without loss, and no loss without pain. Bottom line: if you're not hurting, you're not leading. But this book is not a theological treatise on pain. Rather in Leadership Pain, Samuel Chand - best-selling author recognized as "the leader's leader" - provides a concrete, practical understanding of the pain we experience.

We're all infected with a spiritual disease. Its name is shame. Whether we realize it or not, shame affects every aspect of our personal lives and vocational endeavors. It seeks to destroy our identity in Christ, replacing it with a damaged version of ourselves that results in unhealed pain and brokenness. But God is telling a different story for your life. Psychiatrist Curt Thompson unpacks the soul of shame, revealing its ubiquitous nature and neurobiological roots. He also provides the theological and practical tools necessary to dismantle shame.

Not Sure if I Want to Lead
This book has given me such insight as to what a leader goes through. It is also show me what grief I've given leaders, as well as held them in a position in my mind they did not deserve.I know for sure that if the Lord wants me to lead, that he will have to make that clear. I have such a high respect for anyone who takes on leadership roles and hope that I can continue to do and remember the things in this book. Chapter 6 nailed me, I had no idea this was a fault of mine until I heard it explained. I now feel like I do understand how to consider other peoples ideas and form a group opinion. That's huge!

falling forward ... my take away!
I wouldn't say this book was life altering but there were certainly some amazing take aways!
1. view situations from another's perspective
2. we are the chiefest among sinners (and realize that our righteousness is as filthy rags!) until we can admit and come to terms that (even though) we do good, lead well, and fight hard... we still have our own set of hidden secrets and issues we don't want to SHOUT OUT!
3. falling forward .... we all fall .. but let's make sure we fall FORWARD
