Publisher's Summary
A victim on display. A detective on the rails.
Shopping with her sister, DI Amy Winter is admiring a Valentine’s Day window display of a perfect bride encrusted in diamonds and resplendent in lace - until she notices blood oozing from the mannequin’s mouth.
This is no stunt. A post-mortem reveals the victim was left to die on her macabre throne for all to see. When a second victim is found, it emerges that both women were "Sugar Babes" arranging dates with older men online - and Amy finds herself hunting an accomplished psychopath.
As she tracks down the killer, Amy’s instincts go into overdrive when the charismatic head of the agency behind the display makes no attempt to hide his fascination with her serial-killer parents. What exactly does he want from Amy? With her own world in freefall as her biological mother, Lillian Grimes, appeals her conviction, Amy pushes the boundaries of police procedure when a third "Sugar Babe" disappears...Is she as much at risk as the killer’s victims?

Best Amy Winter Yet!!
This third installment of the DI Amy Winter series is the best so far. The first two books were phenomenal, but this one had me hooked from the first chapter. It was so spellbinding, I finished it in one day.
The narrator was excellent and I am eagerly awaiting for the next book. I hope that one day Lillian finally gets what's coming to her.

Slow
This is book 3 of the series. I have only read nook 1 so far. The story overall is pretty good. My problem is that it took too long to get to the point. They tell you who the bad guy is and what he has done, but there is so much side story that I got bored. Perhaps it is my problem, as of this reading I have read 89 books this year and it is only July. I maybe a little burned out. There is a pandemic and the only other activity for me is house work, which I refuse to consider.
RECOMMENDATION: READ IT.

Really good
I thought this was a really good book. The only real complaint that I had was I thought that Amy was annoying sometimes. In this book it’s like she saw sexism everywhere. When a female brought Donovan a cup of coffee she went off on him about just because that was a woman she had to bring you coffee. Somebody complemented her hair and she had to think he wouldn’t complement my hair if I was a man. When her commanding officer gives her orders she hast to question if it’s because she’s a woman even though she had already stepped out of line and defied orders multiple times already. It got very annoying. It just seemed like nothing could be said to her without her throwing the it’s because I’m a woman card into it when it had nothing to do with that. I love this series. That kind of stuff needs to really cool down.

I Loved this Series
Every book was interesting with it's own great story. It was fun to come across some of the same characters and then meet new ones. I really hope there is another book coming. It was really a good mystery and I was drawn in quickly and couldn't wait to get back to the story especailly toward the end when the excitement grew. The narrator was excellent, sometimes I forget it is the same person doing all the characters. Thanks for such a good listen. Thanks to Audible for always keeping me company with great entertainment.

Too much drama
I have listened to all three books and I don’t remember being so irritated by the narrator. My irritation faded somewhere in the middle but didn’t go away entirely. Her cadence added a level of drama that is unnecessary and farcical. I am torn about whether to go on with the series. These are pretty good stories but I am not sure they are good enough to overcome my irritation with how they are read.

The twist in this one surprised me. The killer gets off on the death of his victims, but it’s why he has this specific ritual that will surprise you. Wanting to escape her past the lead officer chose this life to put away killers. But her family is thrown into her face often. The story does drag on a bit. The narration is nice and easy to listen to.
