A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. Publisher's Summary
Being a hero always has its price, but what happens if that price is too high to pay?
Fresh off their victory over Graves and his followers, Marcus and his friends have managed to enjoy a few weeks of relative calm and peace as they continue to build Aldford, preparing the town for a new wave of settlers coming from Eberia. But as the days wear on with no new arrivals in sight, they begin to fear the worst. Eventually setting out to search for their promised reinforcements, they soon realize that they weren't as alone on the frontier as they thought they were.
Just managing to rescue a caravan of settlers in the nick of time from a horde of bandits, Marcus and the rest of Virtus barely have a chance to catch their breath before they find themselves thrust into the middle of Eberian politics, revealing a plot that threatens to not only take away their hard-won independence, but to destroy Aldford completely.

I found this book to be quite satisfying compared to my book 2 experience.
The author has properly returned to the GameLit/LitRpg style promised in book 1.
Good mechanics, pleasing outcomes, exciting fight sequences and almost no politics.

Deeply Satisfying
All the books in this series have gone above and beyond even my best expectations. Every time you get to a place the author COULD have ended it and drawn out the series as smaller, more episodic pieces...there is more! And the story, characters, world, and narrator are all so compelling that "more" is EXACTLY what you're hoping for.
If all books were this good, I'd spend more money on them every month that than I do on my rent. This series is my new "gold standard", which is unfortunate, since very very few other series will be able to live up to such a standard for me.

To be honest, everyone who says the MC is an idiot or an asshole in the book is wrong. During a duel he won, some ppl said he was too harsh on the guy, but honestly he wasn’t harsh enough. There is a lot, and I mean a lot of combat throughout this book. I loved every second of it. This is a great entry in the series and can’t wait for the next.

MC often forgets his own powers.
I was thoroughly enjoying this book. It had humor, action, suspense, political intrigue, and a great game world. I couldn’t put it down until, the author has he MC forget his own powers. It is one of my biggest pet peeves in fantasy. It happens when an author makes his character too powerful and needs to create suspense.
For example the MC has a big battle with an old enemy, and not once did he use his blink step. He went from a badass who blinked across the battle field in previous battles to and idiot who slowly runs up the the bad guy who is fighting his friend. He use to be able to blink in an instant but now instead he gets killed and he deserved it (i understand the pressure of battle may make people react irrationally but his whole schtick is that he and his guild have trained and prepared themselves more than others). I actually no longer wanted him to succeed in the book. He is suppose to be a spell sword, but he almost never uses his spells. Sure he might cast a spell shield, but come on!! Aargh I wanted to actually yell at the author.
It’s lazy and you lost me as a fan.

Soooo freaking chatty!
I was slightly annoyed with the cattiness of the characters in the first book. It has gotten even worse. Stf up, with all the useless dialogue and do what you freaking need to do...jesus, so freaking annoying. I think he means it to be funny. I dont mind a few quips here and there, some important dialogue, but when you are stuck listening to 5 mins of a character bragging it's annoying af.

Great Writer+Great Narrator+Great World=Great Fun
This meeting of Lukes is a titanic adventure with all the action and substance you could want. Chmilenko has built a grand world for LitRPG that bucks the traditional drama of real-life danger to instead focus on the trials one faces in the game and loses nothing while gaining a greater sense of immersion. Any gamer can relate to how the characters must feel as everything they have worked for is threatened. True finding your save corrupt doesnt quite compare to defending your virtual home from marauding edge-lords but damn it I had 58 hours on that character!
Anyway, on to the Narration performance. It. Is. Spectacular! Daniels bring enough levity and depth in equal measure at just the right moments! A master of his craft his voices never stray bdtween characters and his flow from moment to moment is astounding. Several times you will find yourself reaching for that rewind button to hear a scene again, and his voice brings it all to life.
If you love Lit RPG then this series is one of the must hear audio books!
If I must point out a flaw there is only one that comes to mind;
Luke, I get it's grammatically correct however, please... the word is lept, not leaped!

Good story and of course a great narrator
I'm really enjoying this series. Book 1.5 threw me for a bit of a loop, but it tied in with this one, so I'm glad I listened to it. The Story really ramps up toward the end with a great climactic ending. Luke does a good job of balancing story with LitRPG elements and doesn't overwhelm the listener with stat sheet updates

I'd never have got through it on paper!
I enjoyed this next installment, but I'm not sure how great I would find it without Luke Daniels' fantastic narration.
However, even the amazing Luke Daniels couldn't altogether hide the repetition in Luke Chmilenko's writing. Sentences along the lines of "They couldn't hide their concern. Furrows of concern creasing their brows." (that wasn't a direct quote as I didn't bookmark them in the audio book - but there were MANY such sentences).
I'd definitely listen to another, as long as Luke Daniels is narrating again, but I'd really appreciate it being a little shorter next time. 24 hours is rather intimidating!!

A great book
A great book. But please label the titles! Book 2 and 3 are mixed up. It caused me to listen to book 3 first since I didn’t notice.

Legacy of the Fallen
I Love this book I'm also becoming a fan of Luck Chmilenko . I enjoying this author writing style the characters have depth . And it looks like a dark future we a facing.
And with the voice acting talents and skills of Luke Daniels who narration makes the characters and world come alive.
This book is bloody brilliant and a must to listen to and owned.
