Have you ever wondered "Why did I do that?" or "Why can't I just control my behavior?" Others may judge our reactions and think, "What's wrong with that person?" When questioning our emotions, it's easy to place the blame on ourselves; holding ourselves and those around us to an impossible standard. It's time we started asking a different question. Through deeply personal conversations, Oprah Winfrey and renowned brain and trauma expert Dr. Bruce Perry offer a groundbreaking and profound shift from asking “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?”

Publisher's Summary
The instant New York Times best seller
Supermodel and philanthropist Gisele Bündchen shares personal stories, insights, and photos to explore lessons that have helped shape her life.
Gisele Bündchen's journey began in southern Brazil, growing up with five sisters, playing volleyball, and rescuing the dogs and cats around her hometown. In fact, she wanted to become either a professional volley player or a veterinarian. But at the age of 14, fate suddenly intervened in the form of a modeling scout, who spotted her in São Paulo. Four years later, Gisele's appearance in Alexander McQueen's memorably rain-soaked London runway show in the spring 1998 launched her spectacular career as a fashion model, and put an end to the "heroin chic" era of fashion. Since then, Gisele has appeared in almost 400 ad campaigns and on over 1200 magazine covers. She has walked in more than 470 fashion shows for the most influential brands in the world. Gisele has become an icon, leaving a lasting mark on the fashion industry.
But until now, few people have gotten to know the real Gisele, a woman whose private life stands in dramatic contrast to her public image. In Lessons, she reveals for the first time who she really is and what she's learned over the past 37 years to help her live a meaningful life - a journey that takes listeners from a childhood spent barefoot in small-town Brazil, to an internationally successful career, motherhood and marriage to quarterback Tom Brady.
A work of great openness and vulnerability, Lessons reveals the inner life of a very public woman.

Wish Gisele narrated the whole book!
I am still in the process of listening too it, I have a couple chapters left. Overall I like the book, my one complaint is I REALLY wish Gisele narrated the whole book! After hearing her voice on the intro, the rest of the book just doesn't feel the same. I love Gisele's voice and her accent. I think it would have made the whole book much more authentic. Gisele - next book you write, please narrate!

Inspiring, Motivating, Honest
I bought this audible book because I was curious about Gisele Bündchen, both as a super model and as the wife of a record-setting NFL Quarterback. The book is so much better, and different, than I expected. This book is about the private Gisele Bündchen, as opposed to the public Gisele that the media shows us. "Lessons" is an honest, revealing story of Gisele Bündchen’s life--her struggles, her down times, her beliefs, her loves, her deepest feelings. Gisele’s story touches one’s heart. I initially categorized "Lessons" in my library as “autobiography” but changed it to “motivational” after I finished listening to it.
Gisele Bündchen narrates the introductory material, and could have narrated the entire book, with her pleasant voice and accent. However, the transition to the narrator was easy. The narrator’s voice quickly became as though it were Gisele’s. I did not want to stop listening.
I rarely listen to a book a second time, but I will listen to "Lessons" again. In fact, I ordered a hard copy so that I could refer to some of Gisele’s ideas on exercise, eating, meditation, child rearing, suggestions on how to live more productively, and more.
"Lessons" is a truly inspirational story of a humble, strong, and successful woman. Mr. Brady is so fortunate to have Gisele in his life!

Thank you Gisele
Thank you for sharing your life. The section about Vida was very touching!
Some comments which are meant to be constructive. Please do not relativise truth; it is absolute. Keep searching for the reality outside yourself (I am assuming you do not search for your own truth each time you drive up to a red traffic light? - how much more important that we do not do this with ultimate issues!)
This mindset of finding your own truth owes much to postmodernism and does not stand up to any scrutiny. This kind of religion is merely syncretism, an age old mindset reinvented to look fresh and new in our own times. It ultimately believes in nothing.
Please be very careful who you pray to. The power is in the recipient. What matters about faith is to be found in its object. It matters not that you have faith, but rather where that faith is rooted. Spend your life searching that out; go back to your Bible and read it again.
Thank you for letting us into your interesting life.
