Publisher's Summary
“An insightful memoir that uncovers unique stories about matters of the heart.” (Essence)
The inspiring New York Times best seller from Common - the Grammy Award, Academy Award, and Golden Globe-winning musician, actor, and activist - explores how love and mindfulness can build communities and allow you to take better control of your life through actions and words.
Common believes that the phrase “let love have the last word” is not just a declaration; it is a statement of purpose, a daily promise. Love is the most powerful force on the planet, and ultimately, the way you love determines who you are and how you experience life.
Touching on God, self-love, partners, children, family, and community, Common explores the core tenets of love to help us understand what it means to receive and, most important, to give love. He moves from the personal - writing about his daughter, to whom he wants to be a better father - to the universal, where he observes that our society has become fractured under issues of race and politics. He knows there's no quick remedy for all of the hurt in the world, but love - for yourself and for others - is where the healing begins.
In his first public reveal, Common also shares a deeply personal experience of childhood molestation that he is now confronting...and forgiving.
Courageous, insightful, brave, and characteristically authentic, Let Love Have the Last Word shares Common’s own unique and personal stories of the people and experiences that have led to a greater understanding of love and all it has to offer. It is a powerful call to action for a new generation of open hearts and minds, one that is sure to resonate for years to come.

Heartfelt and Beautifully Done
I haven’t read many memoirs, so I was a little skeptical at first. However, Common’s memoir was beautifully told and his narration was the cherry on top.
His anecdotes and observations touched a nerve, and I looked forward to each day when I could listen and take in his story.

Good message
Great message and definitely had some gems. Especially with me being a father of a daughter who is battling the very same issues with my 11 year old. As I said it was overall a good book, but the delivery had me kind of confused at times. It was like he was drifting off on side thoughts and the stories were never finished which caused me to be lost in the message he was trying to give at certain points

A New Look @ "LOVE"
I really enjoyed this book, I especially enjoyed how transparent Rashid is. His Stories showed me another side of him, a deeper more personal side. He took some genuine risks by discussing his relationship with his daughter, some trauma early on and the push for mental health and seeking the resources to be mentally ok. His readings voice is like an old friend sharing their stories. All I can say is... I enjoyed it..

Love, Love, Love Rules The Day
I love Common's voice and have for some years now. It was great hearing him give life to his words of love wisdom. Being a better father, son, public speaker and lover were not always easy for him...and he's still growing, as we all are. Great advice to anyone who is in a space of growth and healing. Loved that he disclosed that he sees a therapist regularly. Our brothers need to hear this. Get your mental health checked and often. Great listen. Do not hesitate to buy this book! One love...

Part autobiography, part life lessons, Common speaks in this audiobook with such honesty and vulnerability it's compelling listening. He offers up what he has learnt along the road and in it reveals the human experience. Much of what he says resonated with me. I loved the simple way he shared, and he read it brilliantly. Magic!
Always had an abundant respect for Common as was the first Rapper to make me aware and love conscious Hip Hop. Had the honour of meeting him 3 years ago, and having listened to this Audiobook the respect never waivers.
it is a very open honest and thought provoking look into one of the most private people in the industry and some of the topics really resonated with me on a personal level. I loved the fact that he challenges the stigma of counselling as the black community (being from a black household myself) can sometimes think negatively about therapy. But this breaks down the barriers and shows the unequivocally positive outcomes it can have, whilst not forcing it upon you. Common has one of those voices you can really engage with and I found it hard to out this down. One of my best Purchases on Audible. Thank you!
