Publisher's Summary
Detective Archie Sheridan just has to get through the next few days, then his birthday and Halloween will be over. But with escaped serial killer Gretchen Lowell on the loose, the investigation into the murder of a DEA agent demanding his attention, and journalist Susan Ward showing up at his apartment needing a favor, it’s going to be a long weekend.
Soon Archie finds himself crashing a masked ball on a private island owned by Jack Reynolds, a notorious local drug kingpin. By morning, Archie is back on pain killers, a guest is dead and Archie quickly realizes that little is what it seems. One thing is clear: Gretchen is back, and Archie’s nemesis and sometimes lover has something special in mind for the birthday boy, something she’s been planning for a long, long time. On Halloween Eve, with time running out, and the life of someone close to Archie on the line, Archie knows his only chance is to give Gretchen exactly what she wants. But Gretchen will prove more horrifying, and unpredictable, than Archie could ever imagine.
Back with her most thrilling novel yet, Chelsea Cain delivers the pinnacle of what fans of this series have come to expect: sex, murder, twists, dark wit, and some of the best characters in the genre.

Sometimes Less is More
Where does Let Me Go rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I would rate this book a 7. When I compare it to Unbroken, Help, The Lone Survivor, it's trivial. However she's a new writer and I give her a 7 for the intricate piecing together of this story.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Archie as he was the only person I could trust.
What didn’t you like about Christina Delaine’s performance?
Her voice
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
No
Any additional comments?
Chelsea needs to learn that less is more. And when she defines her character, she shouldn't deviate from the plan. Correct me if I'm wrong, but why would Archie have sex with Gretchen in the middle of trying to find Susan.
I didn't feel Chelsea knew how to end a love scene. She would drone on and on and on. Finding Susan was another chapter that could've been edited better.

Unhooked
What would have made Let Me Go better?
Nothing short of a whole new rewrite
What do you think your next listen will be?
don't know
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Christina Delaine?
Carolyn McCormack
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Not that I could see. in fact it went pretty much down hill for me.
Any additional comments?
I was not particularly impressed with this book at all. The narrator voice of Archie was way too low & I had to strain to hear it. I am sorry but the story was all chewed up & spit out like it was piece meal. And I could not wrap the concept around my brain that the psychopathic murderer (Gretchen) kept escaping & this time came back to portray (still a murderer) but in a way a kind of hero too. Now that is way over the top!
The character of Archie was way off too as the writer revealed he had a hot & heavy affair with Gretchen in the past. Palease! And she also was indicating he was obsessed, & possibly hopelessly in love with Gretchen who had actually tortured him, killed him & brought him back to life. Now we are getting a little too close to science fiction.
But all that aside the book I thought Heartsick ended in a decent way & I was expecting Archie to go on as a detective with other murderers to catch. Gretchen's fictional character was interesting & intriguing but enough is enough. In my opinion the character of Gretchen was over at that point & to try & keep it alive failed miserably. Nor did I care for this book going back & forth with new information that was lacking in the book before it, "Heartsick." This added insult to injury plus confusion to me as a reader. So although I reviewed Heartsick as a book that had me hooked, sorry but this book just unhooked me.

Over the top
As the novels pile up featuring serial killer Gretchen Lowell and Detective Archie Sheridan, it gets harder and harder to top the previous novels, which leads directly to scenes and events that are unbelievable. At the same time, if you grant the author these without embracing disbelief, the novels are quite good. Granted, not every horizontal wound looks like a gaping mouth even if they're all described that way. Also, Archie Sheridan is one of the horniest mid-forties buggers on the planet. You would think he would eventually learn not to think with his groin, but he's certainly not unique among the male population suffering from that failing.
The novels excel when it comes to plotting and characterization. The relationships are dynamic and interesting without being needlessly progressive. I like that.
This is an excellent novel. Highly recommended.

I hope there is a next book in the series
This is a great series and must be read in order to fully understand the relationship between Archie and Gretchen. So many feelings of love, hate, mental addiction, repulsion, sympathy etc. are evoked by these characters. In this addition a small faction of untouchables mess with the wrong detective and boy did they underestimate his unknown guardian. Gretchen is the last thing they expected and the first thing they should have run for the hills from. Fast action thriller with the return of the usual suspects. I think the best story in the series thus far. The rumors are spinning around a possible 7th book. Great narration.

Laughable
Would you try another book from Chelsea Cain and/or Christina Delaine?
The narrator was just fine, but this book is a clear result of an author who thinks that she's so successful that she no longer needs an editor. And every writer needs a good editor.
There are obvious gaffs: (paraphrased): "But he never downloaded anything to his laptop, so how could there be malware on it, " quickly followed by, "He only just downloaded that to his laptop a few weeks ago."
And there's lots of unbelievable dialogue. At one point a character screams (again paraphrased), "I've been kidnapped by a serial killer today, and this happened and that happened, and if one more thing happens, I'm, I'm, I'm just gonna lose it." I bet you are.
I've read and loved earlier books in this series, and I'm sorry to see these charcters henceforth lost to me. I enjoyed them muchly when they were well written. No more for me, though.

Not For the Faint of Heart
If you could sum up Let Me Go in three words, what would they be?
Really screwed up!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Archie seems to be growing on me more and maybe it's because he's showing more emotion. The flash back scenes were nice to have, and explained a lot about this complex man.
Have you listened to any of Christina Delaine’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
NA
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, I found I needed to take a break from it. Some parts were just a bit much and I usually like screwed up and twisted books.
Any additional comments?
It's good, just really super twisted:)

Gretchen strikes again
What was one of the most memorable moments of Let Me Go?
From reading the previous books in this series I knew what to expect of Gretchen, however even I was surprised at some of the acts carried out by her in this story.
Any additional comments?
I found the narration to be slightly off-putting and mumbled at times. The narrator's voice as a man was quite irritating, but this is just my personal preference.
