Story
When Mitch Rapp captures ISIS’s top technology expert, he reveals that he was on his way to meet a man who claims to have the ability to bring down America’s power grid. Rapp is determined to eliminate this shadowy figure, but the CIA’s trap fails. The Agency is still trying to determine what went wrong when ISIS operatives help this cyber terrorist do what he said he could — plunge the country into darkness. With no concept of how this unprecedented act was accomplished, the task of getting the power back on could take months. Perhaps even years.

Now, with no family and free from the military's command structure, Reece applies the lessons that he's learned in over a decade of constant warfare toward revenge.

Publisher's Summary
An unprecedented and terrifying bioterrorism plot threatens to kill millions in the midst of a divisive presidential election in this “gut punch of a tale that exploits our greatest fears” (The Providence Journal) from the number one New York Times best-selling Mitch Rapp series
A toxic presidential election is underway in an America already badly weakened by internal divisions. While politicians focus entirely on maintaining their own power, ISIS kidnaps a brilliant French microbiologist and forces him to begin manufacturing anthrax. Slickly produced videos chronicling his progress and threatening an imminent attack are posted to the internet, intensifying the hysteria gripping the United States.
ISIS recruits a Mexican drug cartel to smuggle the bioweapon across the border, but it’s really just a diversion. The terrorist organization needs to keep Mitch Rapp and Irene Kennedy distracted long enough to weaponize a deadly virus that they stumbled upon in Yemen. If they succeed, they’ll trigger a pandemic that could rewrite the world order.
Rapp embarks on a mission to infiltrate the Mexican cartels and track down the ISIS leader who he failed to kill during their last confrontation. But with Washington’s political elite increasingly lined up against him, he knows he’ll be on his own.
Another stellar and white-knuckled pause-resister, Lethal Agent proves that “Mitch Rapp is the hero we need, maybe now more than ever” (The Real Book Spy).

Outstanding political/espionage thriller
This is the fifth Mitch Rapp novel written by Kyle Mills since Vince Flynn's family selected him to continue the series after Flynn's 2013 death of prostate cancer. Vince Flynn has been my favorite author since he released the standalone novel Term Limits in 1997. (By the way, Irene Kennedy is the only character that has appeared in every Vince Flynn novel including Term Limits. Scott Coleman also appeared in Term Limits and has appeared on many but not all of the novels in the Mitch Rapp series.) I had grave concerns about the selection of Kyle Mils to continue the Mitch Rapp series, but I was wrong. Mills has done an outstanding job with all five of the Rapp novels he has written.
LETHAL AGENT is first and foremost an espionage thriller as Rapp attempts to stop a bio-weapon attack on the US. It is also a political thriller as US presidential politics is a major part of the novel. The publisher's summary sets up this novel well so I will not add to it.
George Guidall has narrated all of the novels in the Mitch Rapp series except Books 3 - 5. He did his normal superb job with LETHAL AGENT.

I did not want this book to end!!!!
Phenomenal!
I won’t write much because there are already quite a few good reviews. I just wanted to add my thoughts and praise of Kyle Mills for this outstanding book. I had thought the previous Mitch Rapp books written by Mr. Mills were excellent. What tops. Excellent? This book!
This has a well developed plot and all the great characters Rapp fans have come to know over the years.
I am so glad the Flynn family has kept with a single author as opposed to other families of deceased authors (Clancy, Ludlum) where you never know what to expect.
George Guidall does another outstanding job narrating.
This book has my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.

A Solid Mitch Rapp Story
The reading by George Guidall is, as usual, perfect. Accents, pacing, pronunciation, and dynamics are all excellent. The only factor that detracts from the overall production is author Kyle Mills' continued lack of understanding of female characters. There are only two women who figure in this story - Irene Kennedy, the head of the CIA. She cool, calm and controlled. The other woman, a senator running for the presidency. She's a shrill,, greedy witch who is often on the verge of hysteria. That's all Kyle Mills, and Vince Flynn before him, seem to know. Ice queen or hysterical devil. Oh, and in the case of Rapp's late wife, a spoiled, irrational whiner. (The number of times his late wife would stomp her feet and screech, ""You come home right now!" when Rapp was off on some dangerous mission was laughable.) Claudia, Rapp's current live-in lover who plays a minor role, so far has been able to avoid those two extremes, though in Lethal Agent, she's starting to echo the late wife's "Stay home with me and let the world go to hell without you," mantra. Unfortunate.
I love George Gudall's performances. I like Rapp. I like the men he works with. I even like Kennedy. But really, I just wish Mills could figure out how to write a three-dimensional woman who does more than just wait for Rapp to come home.

Another great
I always anxiously await the next in this series. This one doesn’t disappoint. I always enjoy when Scott and the gang are involved and they are here. I was afraid “politics” would come into play and typically find that frustrating as I don’t want that interfering in my entertainment. But it’s here- luckily it’s not “real” people. And plays well into the cia life. Not as much of Kennedy here sadly.
Only bad thing is I tend to listen to the new books too quickly & now have to wait “forever “ for another dose.

I need Mitch in my life
Great job Kyle Mills! and great job George Guidall. I downloaded this book yesterday and the only bad part about it is, I've already listened to the whole thing.
The only thing better than a Mitch Rapp novel is listening to a Mitch Rapp novel narrated by Mr. Guidall. The story Kyle Mills puts together is so good it sucks you in. And the way George narrates makes you feel you're a part of it. I laugh out loud, I get nervous for the situation, I get excited when Mitch remorselessly cracks skulls.
Please don't ever stop making Mitch Rapp novels.

Rapp is starting to turn into a cartoon character
As a long time fan of Vince Flynn and the characters in this series I look forward each year to the release of a new book. I like all Rapp fans was devastated when we lost Flynn at a young age. Thankful Kyle Mills stepped in and for the most part has done a great job keeping the stories coming.
This is probably the first Rapp novel I did not give five stars too. I feel Luke Rapp is turning more into a graphic novel character and that was never supposed to happen. Yes Rapp is a stud with his gun and has saved America countless times. However in this story are we supposed to believe that Rapp would take out the entire security forces of one of the biggest cartels in Mexico. All by himself? It’s not possible or realistic in the past novels Mitch knows when he needs the help of Colman, Wicker and company. This novel is just so over the top that I could not enjoy it.
I also laughed when Rapp was given the head start to survive in the wild with only a knife and a GPS watch. The author says that Rapp downloaded the maps and terrain onto the watch once he landed in Mexico City. However many chapters earlier Rapp arrived in Mexico City and then right away met with his limo driver and was bound and on the floor in the limo. Also during that ride with his hands tied behind his back laying on the floor of the limo with two body guards feet on his back we are supposed to believe that this was the only time Rapp was able to sleep. I mean come on.
I hope that the author was on a timeline and needed to come up with something fast. Otherwise I am afraid this series is going. To continue to slide real fast.

Cool Beginning but does Warm Up
This book takes to about Chapter 12 to actually get interesting and I think you have had to read the previous book to understand what the first few chapters are all about. Even poor Mr Guidall wasn't up to his usual standards and seemed like he was stilted and racing a clock, so much so that his slight lisp became a rumbling mumble. That being said when things started to get interesting and warm up, the reader settled into his normal fantastic reading voice and did a great job. Great read as per usual from Kyle Mills. Love following Mitch Rapp.
