In Jasper Fforde's Great Britain, circa 1985, time travel is routine, cloning is a reality (dodos are the resurrected pet of choice), and literature is taken very, very seriously. England is a virtual police state where an aunt can get lost (literally) in a Wordsworth poem and forging Byronic verse is a punishable offense. All this is business as usual for Thursday Next, renowned Special Operative in literary detection.

The witnesses are legion, scattered across the world and dotted through history, people who looked up and saw something impossible lighting up the night sky. What those objects were, where they came from, and who - or what - might be inside them is the subject of fierce debate and equally fierce mockery, so that most who glimpsed them came to wish they hadn't. Most, but not everyone.

Publisher's Summary
Fang Rock has always had a bad reputation. Since 1955 the lighthouse has been out of commission, shut down because of fire that gutted the entire tower. But now, finally updated and fully renovated, the island and lighthouse are about to be brought back into service. Students have gathered on Fang Rock to celebrate the opening of the 'most haunted lighthouse of the British Isles', but they get more than they bargained for when the ghosts of long-dead men return, accompanied by a falling star.
Colonel Lethbridge-Stewart is brought in to investigate what he believes to be signs of alien involvement. But it is not only Lethbridge-Stewart who has an interest in Fang Rock. Anne Travers is called to her family solicitor's, who have in their possession a letter from Archibald Goff, the paranormal investigator who once visited Fang Rock back in the 1820s, and along with it a piece of alien technology. What connects a shooting star, ghosts of men killed in 1902 and the beast that roamed Fang Rock in 1823? Lethbridge-Stewart and Anne Travers are about to discover the answer firsthand....
A brand-new series of novels set just after the Doctor Who serial The Web of Fear, featuring the characters and concepts created by Mervyn Haisman and Henry Lincoln.
Terry Molloy is an experienced radio and television actor. Most notably he is best known as Mike Tucker in BBC Radio 4's The Archers, while on television he played the Doctor's evil nemesis Davros during the 1980s. He has also recently appeared on BBC4 Extra in the role of Professor Edward Dunning in The Scarifyers, produced by Cosmic Hobo Productions.

A Happy Discovery.....
I was unsure about whether to try this series of stories, largely due to the cover illustrations which suggest a younger readership. I have however been pleasantly surprised by an adult story arc, engaging characters and interesting concepts. Terry Malloy’s reading is pitch perfect. As embark on the next (and so far last) available audio I need to know... really....WHEN WILL THERE BE MORE?

Okay
The story seemed unnecessarily muddled. Too much timey wimey stuff really. As ever Terry Molloy performed the story admirably. The least good in the series so far in my opinion.
