Story
Eight years ago, when the Philistines stole and then surrendered the ark of the covenant back to the Israelites, Eliora left her Philistine homeland to follow the ark to the community of Kiryat Yearim. There, the family she was adopted into has guarded the ark at the top of a mountain in seclusion. Ronen is a Levite musician determined to return the ark to Shiloh, where his tribe believes it belongs. He never expected that the Philistine girl he rescued years ago would now be part of the very family he's tasked to deceive.

The narrator is to much
Honest not mean: Rachel uses to many pitches, paces, and pauses. Her natural voice is tinny and not conducive to narration - which is why I think she employs all of the voice alterations. It’s disruptive to the story line. I’ve managed to listen to all four in this series with gritted teeth. However, I won’t listen to anymore of Cossette’s work if narrated by Rachel. I have given this narrator more than a fair shake.

Please get a new narrator!
I just can’t go on listening. Narrator is ruining this experience for me. I’m sorry, I don’t mean to be rude, but, I really like this author, however, someone seems to always choose this narrator to read her (and certain other authors like Angela Hunt) books, and it’s so disappointing because I have to force myself to just deal with it if the story is so good. Unfortunately, this particular story didn’t hook me enough to bear with narrators voice. (Made it to 4th chapter.)

Great Book!!! But...
Great book!!! But... the narrator really needs to learn to change her voice a bit to distinguish which character is speaking. When the same voice is used for all characters, it is very confusing for the listener. With time and practice, she should make a good narrator.

one glaring error
This was a good story in so many ways. However, I was disturbed by a glaring error of Jewish history. The Jews would not dare to say the name of God aloud, even today. I am surprised that a student of Jewish history would not know this fact and incorporate it into her story.

For HIS GLORY!!
Have heard Rachel Botchan grow in skill over the course of these books😄
A joyfully skillful rounding out of the entire series. Strong female characters who do not hide their YHWH given skills, but use them both physically, emotionally and verbally for HIS glory. Strong male characters that mesh completely with the strong females, also utilizing their YHWH given skills for HIS glory! Fantastic!! Truly Connilyn Cossette is one of my all-time favorite authors...Well worth the cost, time it takes to listen and remembrance long afterwards. This series will definitely be listened to again.🐱
