Carl was a regular construction foreman. Not the worst, not the best, and definitely not the thinnest. Even so, he didn't deserve that heart attack! He really didn't deserve being reborn into a dog-eat-dog world as a dragon. To be fair, it’s nice to be at the top of the food chain. Now Carl just needs to learn how magic works, which monsters are safe to eat, and why his hoard is so important to him. Dealing with change is hard enough, but he has enemy dragons incoming, hostile environments, and foes constantly trying to get bragging rights by taking down a dragon.

Will Raytak be able to regain his freedom and his honor? Will the new threat destroy the zone before he can return to fight it?

Stalking Audible’s website for book four.
First off I just wanted to say: as a Marine this story was seriously lacking on Crayons. ;)
This series is an example of superlative writing and craftsmanship. It’s an original spin on a genre that seems to have gotten stuck in just three possible plot lines.
While not everyone can perform with a voice that is as deep and gravely as a Sean Connery or Clint Eastwood, the narrator does an excellent job of keeping the individual characters distinctive enough that you can easily follow the conversations.
Special note to the author from an avid fan and crayon connoisseur:
As an individual who has driven a hundred miles to sit in those waiting rooms for hours until someone could “practice” medicine on me, I have had the humble pleasure to listen the stories of several of the heroes you have spoken about in your author’s notes. I would also like to thank you for sharing the love brother.

A great entry in an amazing series
These books have not been par for the course of Litrpg books, they have all the elements but are told in a far different way, and three books in its been a very good thing. The soldier of a Litrpg world (as opposed to adventurer) angle just keeps giving coupled with an outstanding narration Job gives this title a real movie vibe. Without spoiling portions of this book our MC faces a whole new set of challenges, the story introduces new characters and overall gives the listener a whole new perspective on the game world. it takes us away from the main Town and zone of the story for a fun line of quests the MC must complete, while tying him back into the town and zones over arching story near the end.The real world angle has a few big developments as well!
The narration for these books continues to improve, Jack delivers another great entry into the series with a plethora of voices for many characters that really bring them to life. I'd suggest picking up any book this narrator is on as he does a wonderful job. at the very least if you are a litrpg fan give this series a try, the story and the narration will not disappoint!

Great addition despite a rushed ending
coming to book three I am already very invested in the series and the journey. I loved the coliseum / gladiatorial aspect of the story and it was handled very well. The section of the novel at the end where they battle for hold fast, felt very rushed though. it felt as if that could have been the opening story arc of the next book and given more time to be flushed out, but they just dove straight into the action and defeated them handedly. otherwise this book was fantastic and did a great job of continuing the series and story

I Advise.
I advise you get this book if you liked the previous two. My biggest complaint is the over use of the word "advise" as in, sometimes characters are said to advise someone else when they are answering a question. It feels almost as if the author was told that advise sounds better in all contexts than answered, told, corrected, ect. That is truly my one major gripe with the book. Other parts are a little ham-fisted with the emotional storytelling, and a few characters are still rather 2d. I however can't even begin to pretend it wasn't a wonderful, and epic ride. New characters such as sergeant rend are a quick favorite. I eagerly look forward to the next two books as i get to them.

I never knew this style of book existed. It is a cross between adventure/fantasy & listening to someone play a game. Who would know this would work, I didn't , but this series of stories changed my mind. I listened quite contently while in bed using the timer on the app and found myself adding more to the timer each night.

Series goes from strength to strength
It would have been very easy for the author to have continued progressing the story and characters along similar lines to the first two books, but the main character immediately sees drastic changes to his in-game progression that results in a distinctly different tone for much of this instalment of the series. This is a move that could have easily failed or merely alienated some of the readers, but it works really well and makes the series that much stronger, while also teaching the reader a bit more about the overall world of the game too.
The narrator again gives another strong performance, helping to make the overall book more enjoyable and ensuring that all the relevant characters are suitably distinctive to help the listener's overall enjoyment of the story.
Overall, another quality addition to this series, I wouldn't recommend jumping into the series with this book though, there's no benefit in missing out on the first two that are also very enjoyable listens.

The Good:
I love the storyline, the characters and the setting in mock MMORPG Imperium Romanum. The protagonist is likeable and unlike many LitRPG heroes, he is not a complete fool. The story is engaging, and I did listen to the whole 15 hours book in one go.
The Bad:
Not much, except for the horribly wasted opportunity to name one of the quests "Saving Private Raytak". And combat losses which regularly exceed 50% are considered normal, without any penalties to the morale (I get that this is just game mechanics, but an annoying one).
And the Ugly:
The author needs a thesaurus. Badly. While the non-combat part of the story is generally well-written, as soon as any action begins, he forgets that synonyms exist, and the battle scenes seem somewhat clunky.

An interesting storyline deviation
Another well written installment in the saga. The narrator does an excellent job except for repeatedly mispronouncing some words
