Story
For centuries, the only way to access God’s word was to hear it read aloud in public gatherings. Today, many are blessed to own personal printed copies of the Bible, but there is a surprising benefit to hearing the Scriptures read aloud as it was for so many generations. Verses you have read many times will impact you in a new way when you hear them through the Listener’s Audio Bible (NIV). Read in a single voice with subtle background music, Max McLean’s skillful, engaging, but never over-dramatized style will bring the complete Bible to life.

Would you believe it took nearly 500 years to translate the ESV (English Standard Version) Bible? That's because the ESV builds on the great translations of the past - including William Tyndale's New Testament of 1526 and the King James Version (KJV) of 1611. But the ESV Bible also builds on the best Christian scholarship of the last 100 years.

Story
“Break Through the Language Barrier, Expand Your Understanding” The Amplified Bible is a Literal Equivalent translation that, by using synonyms and definitions, both explains and expands the meaning of words in the text. This unique system of translation allows the reader to more completely and clearly grasp the meaning as it was understood in the original Hebrew and Greek languages. For example, the Greek word pisteuo, which the vast majority of versions render as “believe.” That simple translation, however, hardly does justice to the many meanings contained in the Greek pisteuo: “to adhere to, cleave to; to trust to have faith in; to rely on, to depend on.”

NO CHAPTERS AND NO WAY TO NAVIGATE!
What disappointed you about The KJV Listener's Audio Bible?
The Books and Chapters are not labeled and not navigable! Obviously, someone who has absolutely no knowledge of the Bible made the decision to just play it straight through like a regular book. I saw the ratings mentioning this before I downloaded, so that is on me! I just had to try it because I couldn't believe that anyone would do that! What is wrong with you people at Audible?!!!!
What did you like best about this story?
It's the Bible, duh! Max McLean is a great narrator and I love to hear him read the Bible, especially when I can choose what I want to hear!
How could the performance have been better?
Put the Books and Chapters back in!!!!!!!!!!!
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The KJV Listener's Audio Bible?
You don't "edit" the Bible! You all did though and it stinks!
Any additional comments?
I was trying to download a version of the KJV Bible to an mp3 player for my 80 year old mother-in-law. Wanted Max McLean specifically and attempted this, trying to save money with the free trial period! What a waste and I would never pay $15.00 per month for a service such as this. I'm sure this review won't get posted, but at least someone at Audible will read it. Y'all need to get a clue!

Amazon Audible Destroyed this Great Recording
What disappointed you about The KJV Listener's Audio Bible?
Originally the were 37 Chapters each labeled with the Title - Example "Chapter 1 - Genesis". Then Amazon/Audible removed the Title of the Chapter forcing the reader to try
to remember the name of the numbered chapter. Good luck with that if your searching for a specific chapter by name. The final death knell when when Amazon/Audible actually the chapter numbers and artificially changed the Bible in 19 Parts. So, now you can not even find a specific chapter not to mention the previously deleted titles. Obviously someone there at Amazon/Audible has zero insight into how people actually read and re-read the Bible. They think its like, say a Michael Connelly novel where you start at chapter 1 and go to the end - rather than reading and re-reading different chapters of you choice in a varied sequence over a lifetime. The dummies destroyed the uttility of this great reading by Max McLean. Overwhelmingly STUPID!

Great Book
The narrator has an interesting way of reading but does not detract from the message. My complaint would be that there is no music as advertised. Music would be a great addition to this book.
