Publisher's Summary

In Live No Lies, John Mark Comer offers spiritual practices and advice for finding happiness and peace by recognising and resisting evil in the world, the flesh and the devil.

With warmth and encouragement Pastor John Mark Comer, author of ECPA best seller The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry, offers guidance and advice to help you recognise the lies and resist the forces that seek to steal your happiness, wholeness and holiness.

As Christians, we’re all at war with three fierce adversaries of the soul that feed us deceptive ideas to harm our spiritual well-being: the world, the flesh and the devil. Live No Lies parses out the tactics, strengths and weaknesses of these enemies, giving you a clear battle plan and spiritual practices to outwit and overcome these evils.

Skilfully weaving together uplifting wisdom and reassuring, practical guidance, this is a book for anyone looking for everyday disciplines to help them care for their soul. Live No Lies will equip you with all you need to make practices for resisting evil an active part of your spiritual formation and leave you motivated to find happiness and peace in Jesus.

The tug-of-war in your chest for wholeness? Those lies that sabotage your peace? It's time to identify them, and defeat them.

Beautiful and needful

This book really does get us back to the cleansing Truth/The Gospel, which is the only way to cancel the lies the enemy tries to use to ‘steal kill and destroy’ our souls/faith/peace…etc. Calling us up to an uncompromising, but humble, higher way of living.

I love how he expands on the concept of our motives for going to heaven or what it, or hell, would be like in light of our inclinations; an idea I first came across in CS Lewis saying that it’s safe to say that only the pure in heart will see God but only the pure in heart want to (I think ‘Mere Christianity’). Comer’s further insight into the formation of our eternal character/being, and how it guides our trajectory through to eternity, really impacted me.

I need to go over this again because there are so many amazing, and at times challenging, truths I want to have deeply embedded.

So grateful to get to learn this. I wish so many more could read this; it is so freeing!

The Idolatry of Modern Day Ideology

Like any of JMC's books, it's full of great quotes, research and wisdom for living the good life. I personally love the philosophical approach that weaves its way through the chapters and of course, John Mark's vulnerability and gut wrenching honesty. Keep writing my brother!
