Story
My double life is crumbling around me. Denying who I am isn’t fair on anyone: the girls I tried so hard to date, the guys I’m too afraid to flirt with, or my family who don’t know the truth. I’m afraid of coming out to my mom - but if I don’t, I’ll remain in fear that she’ll find out from someone else. I’m torn between expectation and truth, and I’m not sure I can keep hiding behind a cocky grin. I’m not ready for the gorgeous guy who challenges me in my own diner.

Milo. Unusual. Quirky. Different. I’ve heard it all. I’ve accepted I’m not for everyone. When I find out I inherited a bookstore and apartment on a small East Coast island, I jump at the chance for a new life. Turns out I’ve also inherited a sexy, tattooed guy who not only rents the space next to my store but my apartment too. Gideon. I wasn’t looking for a roommate, but it’s not like I can stay at Milo’s place while he’s banished to a hotel. According to Milo, we’re bestie goals. And if he doesn’t wear pants at home, who am I to complain?

Payne. In search of: Room to rent. Must ignore the patheticness of a 40-year-old roommate. Preferably dirt cheap as funds are tight (nonexistent). There’s nothing sadder than moving back to my hometown newly divorced, homeless, and lost for what my next move is. When my little brother’s best friend offers me a place to stay in exchange for menial duties, I swallow my pride and jump at the offer. I need this. I also need Beau to wear a shirt. And ditch the gray sweatpants. And not leave his door ajar when he’s in compromising positions...

My new stepbrother is insufferable. You'd think it wouldn't matter since I won't be here for long, but this guy gets under my skin like no one ever has. All-American, baby-faced, blue-eyed band dork and star soccer player. Everything about him is the picture of perfection—unlike me. I don't think Do Gooder knows I'm starting senior year late. And he definitely doesn't know why. I've got secrets I'm taking with me to the grave.

The job at Sunday Orchard was supposed to be temporary. A chance to gain some work experience, to have some fun. I had not expected to be welcomed into a family of gorgeous and weirdly efficient lumberjack-types, or to find purpose in the tiny Vermont town whose claim to fame seemed to be apple-based products and copious amounts of charm. And I most definitely hadn’t expected to fall for Knox Sunday, my grumpy, burly, fifteen-years-older, reluctant roommate, with his infuriating lectures, his hot-as-fire body, his superior attitude - I’ve never been one to put down roots.

I've been in love with my best friend since forever. Okay, fine. Like, kindergarten. It started out platonic, obviously, but then became.... Nope. Still platonic. The problem is that Parker Ellis has been straight since forever. And that makes it difficult to convince him that the two of us are meant to be together. And now, there's no point. All is lost. He's gone and gotten engaged to his high-school sweetheart - which means I have to grin and bear it, while pretending to be the happy, supportive best man, while he prepares to commit his life to a woman.

When it comes to hockey, I'm all about the game. I've worked for years to be one of the best in the league, and l've done it without splashing my orientation all over the tabloids. My hockey image is one I've carefully cultivated, and after one night with Ezra Palaszczuk, I risk it all. He's cocky, obnoxious, and has an ego bigger than Massachusetts. And okay, maybe he's the sexiest man I've ever known. We'll never get along. Not when we sleep together. Not even when my possessive streak awakens. That doesn't stop us from falling into bed together over and over again.

Kind, caring, and protective. Those are the three qualities I’m looking for when it comes to my dream man. In a city as big as Chicago, you wouldn’t think he would be that hard to find, right? Wrong. Sure, my boss found a super-sexy detective and my best friend fell madly in love with the most eligible bachelor around. But the only person I’ve met recently is a broody bad boy who saved me at a sketchy pub. He’s grumpy, rude, and honestly, not that likeable at all. Hardly my “dream” guy. So why can’t I stop thinking about him?

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times. Friends don't bang friends. I want my friends to stay in my life, especially that flirty, clever, outgoing best friend of mine. It's a darn good thing Owen and I made a pact in college to never ever sleep together, or else I'd be tempted. Trouble is, eight years later, I've been wondering what his kisses taste like. And I've been curious if our chemistry would extend into the bedroom. If he might feel the same risky pull. But I don't want to lose Owen.

In my defense, I was left alone with a bottle of single-malt and a lifelong penchant for protecting my baby sister. Still, that's no excuse to send 10 drunk-texts on why her hasty marriage would be a mistake. If only I had just texted my sister. But nope. Publisher's Summary
Adam:
I might be into guys. Do you have any idea how terrifying that is? I've already run halfway across the country to get away from my abusive parents, and I really want to experiment, but I can't even hook up without scaring myself away. I might look confident on the outside, but this is tearing me apart.
Then my new roomie wins a trip for two to a gay resort in Hawaii. Darren wants to show his clueless ex that he's moved on, and I want to help out. Darren deserves way better, and faking being his boyfriend is the perfect chance to figure out my feelings. But then what do I do when the man I really want turns out to be Darren himself?
Darren:
I escaped the regret-fueled hookups with my ex when I moved out. He's not the worst guy out there, but now we're going to be at the same resort for a week, and I want to make it clear that I'm off-limits. My hotheaded, impulsive, but surprisingly sweet new roommate is willing to help with that.
While I pretend to date Adam, I can't stop imagining what it'd be like for real. I want to be more than Adam's experiment, and suddenly keeping up appearances is less important than following my heart. I'm going to have to learn to trust all over again for this to work out once this week is over, though. Can we grow strong enough to build something that lasts forever?
Live Wire is book two in the Brooklyn Boys series, where good men find their happily-ever-afters in a hectic metropolis. It has an HEA and no cliffhanger. There will be one king-sized bed, confusingly real kisses, a broken heart healing, a lot of firsts, an awkward plane trip, and the prize of a lifetime: a heart to hold safe.

Another amazing one!
E. Davies has a way to make me fall in love with a story. I can't get over how much I love Adam and Darren's story. When I read this book I just was in love. However to have Nick J. Russo narrating the story makes me fall in love even more! I just can't get over how much life Nick brings to this story. It just make me fall in love all over again!

Nick Russo and E Davies have done it again!
I had the pleasure of reading this book before hearing the audible and I have put my original review of the book below this review. This is a beautiful story and I absolutely LOVED hearing Nick Russo narrate it. No one else could have done it as well as he did. The story was brought to life so well, individual voices very easily recognized, and of course he makes the hot scenes even hotter! I can't wait for the next one in this series to come out on audible and I can only hope its Nick Russo again.
Original Book Review: "E. Davies has done it again, just when I thought I couldn't like this series any more and here I am wanting to start back at the beginning of this book immediately. This book was a sweet and heartwarming story of two men finding what they needed, when they needed it, and with the person they needed it from. Whether what they needed was to love themselves more, or if they needed someone else to show them how special they were, they found it. I absolutely loved Adam and Darren. The growth of their relationship is handled so well and their individual growth made me want to wrap them both in a big bear hug telling them how proud I was of them. E. Davies makes sure to insert some humor in here as well and I won't ruin it with a spoiler but I will say I found myself literally laughing out loud several times with Adam and Darren's antics. This story was everything that I look for in a true romance novel....the friendship, the fun times, the sexy times, and the swoon worthy moments. I will say I wanted to throttle Darren's ex and his boy toy and it was good to see karma show up for them. It was great getting appearances from our first two Brooklyn Boy couples too. I found myself smiling anytime one of them showed up in a scene. We also get to meet some new side characters and I can only imagine where their stories will take them throughout the rest of the series!"

Something Real
Sometimes the fairytale starts in a storm and this is one of those stories. The storm of doubt that clouds the mind and makes men doubt their worth.
Darren is coming out of a bad relationship that leaves him wondering if he can ever be more than a hookup. Adam is a man fearful of a dawning truth that will upset the balance of his world and all of it makes these men gravitate and be repelled by each other.
They deny a truth evident to both of them despite the denial and the push me pull me of their attraction could have been an annoying thing but instead is an understandable one.
Adam is coming into his own. In his mind, in his heart and ultimately he knows that to have what he wants sacrifices will have to be made. But is he strong enough to put aside the shouted, hateful words of what being a man really is to be the man he always wanted to be and now see's he can become?
Darren is scarred by past burns and his soul has been scorched by self doubt and recrimination that have shamed him to his core but he is strong. Stronger than even he knows he can be and what starts out as trying to prove something to someone else instead shows himself all that he has ever wanted is there right in front of him. But is it smart to get your heart involved in something that seems to be built on shifting sand or do you trust that they will be there to catch you when you fall?
This book is up and down and sideways in the very best possible way. The struggle to define a new self is not something unknown to us all. We live many lives in our lifetimes and we are many people in them all. The struggle is in defining the new self you see and the new life unfolding before you like the blossoming of spring flowers. There is courage in the struggle and bravery in defying those who would try to define and bind you forever in a form not of your own making. When you read or in this case hear characters who find that strength you wanna fist pump the air and cheer their victory. Because you've seen the struggle and felt the fear and pain that has proceeded it.
Nick J. Russo does an excellent job in conveying this and E. Davies writes words as only he can. So good I listened to it twice before posting this review. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Happy Listening my friends!

Adam and Darren are so hot together!
When we first met Adam in the previous book, I did not think that he could be such a complete sweetheart. I had already detected his protective streak, which is plenty confirmed. I think that his attraction and affection for Darren was just what he was waiting for to finally start to overcome his doubts and hangups.
Darren on the other hand is quite easygoing, but after a toxic relationship is doubting himself and his self worth.
Together they realize that what each of them sees in the other is so much better than how they see themselves.
Lovely as always, this Ed Davies story provides, a lot of sexy times, laughter, fighting, and a crashed wall which no one should miss.
Nick J Russo's narration is exceptional as always, and Adam 's drawl.... wow!

Another great add to this new amazing series. Nick J. Russo brings Adam and Darren's story to life, the tone and flow of his voice is a perfect fit for this book. These guys have depth and so many sides that show not only their strength but their vulnerability. E. Davies always gives the perfect mix of sweet and sexy that leaves you wanting the book to never end, adding in Nick J. Russo and I want to dive right back in.

what a wonderful addition to the series
I already loved this book, Nick just brought it to a whole other level with his Narration of this book.
Ed Davies can create characters that we want to be best friends with and wish we could hang out with.
Adam and Darren are thrown together out of necessity. Both are hiding things they don't want others to know.
Together they learn to trust and love. This series keeps getting better and better.

Love is in the fresh sea breeze
E. Davies did it again with these sweet and charming fake-boyfriend trope and friends-to-lovers trope combo.
Adam has escaped his abusive parents and is now finally free. He’s also willing to confront himself with his might-be-gay sexual orientation and now eager to experiment. Darren has just gotten out a rotten relationship and needs a uplifting and exciting vacation to clear his head. When he won a two person-ticket to a lavish gay resort in Hawaii, these two new roommates decided to take a trip together. But unbeknownst to them, Darren’s bastard of an ex-boyfriend is also there at the resort and Darren desperately needs a fake boyfriend to prove that he’s moved on for the better. And our Adam is very willing to become his fake boyfriend and more.
Very sweet and sexy. These two are too adorable together. I always love beach/resort settings because it gives readers/listeners a lovely escape from the reality. Their relationship is funny, loving and charming. Ans of course, the bastard ex-boyfriend was also there to push these two to fall in love ASAP. Again, NJR did a great job performing this story. Loved it. Onto book 3 now!

Such a good romantic dramedy!💜
Livewire
MMy Thoughts and Review:
On the surface, you think you are getting a typical contemporary romance. The theme of “Livewire” has that fake-and-bake boyfriend thing going for it. However, because this is an E. Davies story, what you get is a story with complex characters told in a first-person narrative by the MCs.
Adam is a Tennessee transplant. Running from his strict home to Brooklyn, he still finds it hard to fit in. His new roommate is great and the two of them get along, he has a job he enjoys, but he lacks a decent social life, and his online hookups with the women he’s been meeting just leave him cold. He knows something is missing, and one night he gets curious and tries his luck on a gay dating site. This one step into the looking glass opens up thoughts and emotions in Adam he has had buried deep inside for years.
Darren has given himself one rule: “never date a roomie ever again!” After the last debacle with a roommate left him out in the cold, literally, Darren has sworn off roommates. Now, he tries to just focus on his friends, his job, and the occasional one-nighter (if he could be so lucky). However, he cannot seem to keep his eye from his ex's social media pages and wondering if he made a colossal mistake by walking away.
After winning tickets to an all-inclusive resort in Hawaii, Darren does what any self-respecting man would do when he learns his Ex and his new boy-toy will be there as well…he asks his new roomie to be his FAKE boyfriend for the week, so he doesn’t look pathetic to his Ex.
The story is filled with silly antics in hula skirts, snarky arguments that will have you giggling, straightening your favorite DragRace wig, and tons of sweet romance between an out and proud gay man and his coming out bisexual roommate.
This story is a lot of fun and filled with a lot of heart. I highly recommend for anyone in need of a good romance, one edging closer to a romantic comedy. This has all the ingredients for the perfect tale. The characters are a lot of fun and ones that will stay in your heart long after the story ends.
The story: 4.50 🌟🌟🌟🌟. ✨
The Narration: 4.00🌟🌟🌟🌟
Overall: 4.25 🌟🌟🌟🌟. ✨

Adam and Darren's Brooklyn Love Story
Book 2 of E Davies 'Brooklyn Boys' series features Adam, Kev's roommate from Book 1, and Darren, his new roommate. I requested a free review copy of this audiobook after listening, and liking, the first book in this series. I'm now posting my opinion of it voluntarily.
Adam is bisexual, but only recently has he allowed himself to explore what that means for him. He's attracted to his new roommate Darren, and when presented with an opportunity to be his fake boyfriend at a gay tropical resort, he jumps in with both feet. Darren is facing his own insecurities. He's realizing that his last long-term relationship was dysfunctional and, despite his attraction to Adam, tries to keep the fake relationship casual. Will the guys wake up to their burgeoning love for each other?
Davies has written another great power-of-love story. The progression of the relationship feels real for the reader. Both men start the story with their separate insecurities and grow to trust and support each other. Davies also write great dialogue here. The flirty, sexy banter between Adan and Darren add to the enjoyment of their story. There's a good balance between playful and serious throughout the book.
I love Nick J Russo's performance of this book. His interpretations really bring the characters alive. His reading style suits Davies books perfectly.
Highly recommended. Many smiles are induced with this wonderful story.

Fake boyfriends made right!
I really liked Darren and Adam, they were really good together. I loved that Darren gave Adam the confidence to finally explore his bisexuality with someone he trusted and to come to terms with how his parents had treated, or maybe I should say mistreated him all his life. And Adam helped Darren see he'd been selling himself short by hooking up with his ex Xavier for so long. They had fantastic chemistry and it was amazing seeing their relationship progress from roommates to fake boyfriends and more. They were really hot together, but more than that, listening as they fall for each other and just be together, was my favorite part.
The transition from fake boyfriends to more was really well done. Darren was understandably wary at first seeing as Adam was supposedly straight, and Adam had some false starts as he tried his new label on for size, but they talked things over and even when Adam could get moody, Darren didn't let him hide for long.
Nick J. Russo is an amazing narrator and every new book I listen him performing, just confirms it. The voices he gave the characters in this book were easy to differentiate and he conveys a lot of emotion with his performance.
Overall, I loved this audiobook, it was a lovely addition to the series!

Another excellent book in the series.
Time for Adam's bi-awakening.
To be honest it was strongly hinted at in the first book that Kev's roommate wasn't quite as straight as he first appeared. Here Adam gets a new roommate when Kev moves in with Charlie. It's Darren who had befriended both Kev and Charlie in the first book. Darren is a sweetheart. Adam is a mess. But when Adam agrees to be Darren's fake boyfriend on a gay cruise the sparks really do fly. This is mainly Adam's journey of exploration, which is sometimes jarring and OTT, but it's nicely balanced with Darren's sweet and caring nature.
I loved that at the point where an angsty breakup seemed imminent Davies reined his characters in and forced them to be reasonable and talk.
My only qualm in the whole audio was those dodgy British accents for those lads they meet on the cruise.

What if your roommate is the one?
Adam was a character in Electric Sunshine and I kind of adored him. He was a little klutzy, a little clueless, but also protective of his roommate Kev. When Charlie asked Kev to move in, Kev was concerned about leaving Adam. Then Darren arrived on the scene, needing a place to live, and it all comes together. Like it was meant to be.
The two men get along. Darren is clearly out and proud – his troubles with his ex have been on display for everyone to see. Adam tells himself he’s not sure, even though it’s pretty clear he is on that end of the spectrum. Everything falls into place – or falls apart, depending on your perspective – when Darren wins two tickets to a gay resort in Hawaii. His ex and his new boyfriend are going to be there and there is no way Darren is going to be shown up. His roommate deserves some fun in the sun, so they head on vacation as fake boyfriends.
I love the fake boyfriend trope. When done well it is a humorous romp (although sometimes it’s serious) and lots of ‘ah’ moments as the men go through their ‘ah-ha’ moments.
This book was well done. I loved Adam’s sexual awakening and Darren’s gentle guidance through the process. I also detested Darren’s ex and his new boytoy. As I was meant to.
I got my happy ending – in a very unexpected way. I also really liked that these were blue collar guys doing hard work that wasn’t always recognized. I liked how they found a way to make everything work. And, of course, I have to mention Nick J. Russo’s narration. He did a great job.

So sweet!
I loved this series! Now in book 2, the author wrote am amazing love story with two of my favorite tropes, friends to lovers and fake boyfriends. I enjoyed a lot how Adam and Darren discovered their feelings for each other in a very sweet but funny way. Of course if you add the wonderful performance of Mr Russo with his smooth and charismatic voice, you'll get a perfect book to spend a nice time while hearing It. Simply wonderful!

Another great story and performance
E. Davies always chooses such perfect performers for all the audiobooks and Nick J. Russo's performance here is no exception. The story of Adam and Darren and their fake boyfriends adventure to Hawaii is delightful. Adam is trying to discover what his sexual orientation really is and Darren lets him figure it out. Together they are magic and Russo brings all the characters to distinctive life.

Fantastic
A great second installment from E Davies. In my opinion E Davies has a knack to make a whole series super enjoyable. Love the fake, oops it's not fake stories. Adam and Darren were amazing characters to get to know. Nick J Russo was fantastic with the narration. Think this book can stand on its own.

I loved listening to this!
Live Wire is the second book in the Brooklyn Boys series but it can be read as a standalone just fine. We did meet the two MCs in the first book, Electric Sunshine, but I don't really think you'll feel lost if you don't have time to read it first.
I always enjoy listening to Nick J. Russo's voice and he did a great job with this book, just like he always does. ❤ This is only the second book I've listened to/read by E. Davies but I am definitely continuing on with this series.
Live Wire is a great bi-awakening, fake boyfriends, roommates-to-lovers story. Adam is questioning his attraction to guys but he hasn't yet acted on it. His new roommate thinks he's straight. Darren has just moved out of his ex's place and is now Adam's roommate.
The blurb for the book is really good so I won't rehash it. I will say that the story kept me engaged and I listened to it straight through. I'm really looking forward to listening to the final book in this series.
A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.

Great characters, wonderful chemistry!
Adam is all mouth and southern attitude, except with his new roommate, Darren. Behind Adam’s bluster is his secret attraction to other men, so when Darren suggests a fake relationship on a gay cruise, Adam jumps at the chance to road-test his secret feelings. I think this feel-good romance was even better than Electric Sunshine (which I loved): E Davies has written two fully formed characters and an engaging plot. While Adam’s journey of self-acceptance involves coming out, Darren’s involves accepting that he is worth loving - the two men draw strength from each other. It’s positive and life-affirming without being too sugary - the perfect balance for me. Audio narrator, Nick J Russo, presents the characters, their wonderful chemistry, and the emotions brilliantly.
