Publisher's Summary

New York Times Best Seller

In this refreshing and inspiring memoir, Lauren Akins, the wife of country music star Thomas Rhett, shows what it's really like to be "the perfect couple" fans imagine, and reveals what it actually takes to live in love, stay in love, and grow together.

Named One of the Best Books of the Year by Parade

When country music star Thomas Rhett won the ACM Award for Single of the Year with "Die a Happy Man", his wife, Lauren Akins, was overjoyed. Her childhood best friend and now husband was being anointed the hottest new star in country music - for a song he had written about her. He was living his dream. Lauren was elated, but she was also wrestling with some big questions, not the least of which was, How can I live my own life of purpose?

Lauren Akins never wanted to be in the spotlight, but as Thomas Rhett made his relationship with Lauren the subject of many of his hit songs, she was tossed into the role of one of America's sweethearts. Revered by fans for her down-to-earth ease and charm, her commitment to humanitarian work, and the pure love she exudes for her family, Lauren has never shared her side of their story - full as it's been with deep love, painful loss, tremendous joy, and a struggle to stay grounded in faith along the way - until now.

In Live in Love, Lauren shares details about her childhood friendship with Thomas Rhett, explaining how they reconnected as young adults. She offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at the challenges of being married to her best friend, who just happens to be a music star, and the struggle to find her own footing in the frenzy of her husband's fame. And in heart-wrenching detail, she opens up about her life-changing experiences doing mission work in Haiti, and then in Uganda, where she met the precious baby who would become their first daughter. From sharing the romance of their handwritten wedding vows to the challenges they faced as they adjusted to the reality of becoming first-time parents, Live in Love takes an intimate look at one couple's life - and opens a window into all of our journeys on the path to self-discovery.

Live in Love is a deeply personal memoir that offers inspiring guidance for anyone looking to keep romance alive, balance children and marriage, express true faith, and live a life of purpose.

Amazing amazing amazing!!!

Lauren’s story telling is so incredible in this book. The stories she had from when her and Thomas Rhett were growing up, dating on and off, and the losses along the way are heart wrenching. Their story is so inspirational and relatable at the same time. I absolutely recommend this book!!

Love!

I loved them before....but I love them even more now! Lauren is such a beautiful soul. I love that she is outspoken about her faith and how God is her constant. It’s refreshing in our society to hear that from someone “in the spotlight”.

Great story

I hardly ever review the books I read
The only reason why I am reviewing this one is because I LOVED the story but had a hard time loving the author all at the same time.
I listened to the entire book in less than 24 hours because her story sucked me in however sometimes it was hard to listen to her complain about how her life didn’t turn out how she thought it would
She is blessed with a huge loving family, many loving friends, a devoted husband, health and beauty but yet she is not satisfied
I would recommend the book because I think she was writing to to tell us that though her life looks perfect it is not and she struggles with the same insecurities that everyone else does.

Finally a relatable book!

Lauren did a wonderful job painting the picture of her youth, religious upbringing, friends and family. I cried like a baby when she shared Hunter’s horrible accident. Partly because I felt like I knew him too through the book. My husband was a professional athlete until a few years ago and Lauren’s journey with a famous husband was so relatable. Thank you Lauren for opening up and sharing. I know that wasn’t easy but you provided enlightenment for me and our journey in our marriage to know that what I felt wasn’t only me. It feels good to know that I wasn’t the only one and wasn’t being selfish. Congrats on being a New Times Best Seller. You earned it!! Laura (Ohio)

I am not a previous fan of Lauren

And as such, I may not be reviewing this book properly. She probably wrote it with her fans in mind. For me, though, the first half of this book was very enjoyable. I loved listening about her childhood as it reminded me of mine.

But the longer this book went on, the more I came to dislike listening to her. I'm honestly surprised she decided to drag her husband, publicly, through the mud so much. She constantly throws him under the bus and reveals things that I'd never reveal about my spouse out of respect for her. She doesn't seem to see anything wrong with literally praying God ends her husband's career.

At one point she laments her husband being at the Super Bowl while she's doing exactly what she wanted to do - adopting - failing to see that she would be unable to do what she wants if his career didn't support it.

It is also so odd how she reiterates how she doesn't want to "convert people to my religion" when preaching the gospel is one of the main tenets of her faith.

in Summary, everything up to their adoption is a great story, but the rest of it is well, whiny.
