Just a commercial for their company

Any additional comments?

I've listed to their podcast and youtube videos and they are fun and informative. I was hoping the book would be more so. I think I took away two or three really useful facts and then spent over half of the book listening to Paul tell us how great Drone U is. Drone U is the company the three writers/contributors of the book run and this book is little more than a running commercial for their subscription plan. Yes there is a "free" plan but all the real content you need to pay the $50/month plan. For a pro UAV pilot I'm sure this is a no brainer and if I do end up getting my UAV lic I'm sure I will happily pay the monthly fee for access to their community. HOWEVER I don't feel I needed to buy their book just to listen to a commercial for their company. To be fair, they are hardly the only entrepreneurs to have committed this sin. Still, if you are an amature or just curious I'd recommend just watching their videos on youtube. If you are a pro, then get the subscription. Either way, I'd recommend passing on the book. Lastly, for a group of guys who do media for a living the audio in this book is BAD. No consistency, bad jump cuts, tin can sound. Their drone videos are amazing not sure what happened here.

Get it all free on the podcasts

The contents are all available via the Drone U podcasts. You’re only advantage in this book are that it’s all in one place.

The narrator has, in my opinion, a very hard voice to listen to for a long time. Maybe You on should have split narration duties.

I would not recommend this audio book. Just hit you tube.

Great information, but felt more like a marketing campaign

The information in here is great if you’re a beginner and want to learn about drones and our industry. The concepts are broken down simply and elegantly, but it felt like half of the book was Drone U pitching their company which made the book feel disingenuous.

The book moves the drone culture forward

I purchased the hard copy and then audible version to so I could listen while I drive. Paul's narration (and accent) were informative and entertaining. Anyone who watches the YouTube channel knows Paul likes to talk, this is no exception BUT it was warranted. He gives us a ton of good content and direction for turning our passion into profit while learning about attaining insurance, setting up the appropriate company structure, drafting a quality business contract, being aware of laws, selecting the right service offering based on difficulty/ barriers to enter, etc. My company is better off having read this book.

good but kind of vague

I enjoyed Paul's rating of his own book. the book itself covered a lot of interesting Concepts but in general was a little bit vague and most of the subjects I was hoping it would have more detail

Great Drone Specific Info

The business aspects that are discussed specific to drones is very helpful. I believe that was the most useful info for me. Though the entire book was very useful.

Not for anyone outside the US or flying for fun

Spends an awful lot of the book promoting their Drone u business. Does cover alot of US regulations and safety stuff, but is very thin on actual flying. Dont buy this book if you are starting out and not wanting to create a business or go to their Drone U. I feel like I paid for them to advertise to me.
