Story
Building on her signature message of using the mind to master difficult emotions, Joyce Meyer focuses on the most destructive, insidious one of all: anger. It is responsible for broken relationships, sleepless nights, high blood pressure and ulcers. It destroys friendships, marriages and families, not to mention peace of mind. Anger is especially hard to handle for many Christians who have learned from childhood that "good Christians don't get angry." Meyer argues that properly handled, anger is an alert system that something is wrong and needs to be resolved.

Publisher's Summary
The average person has 70,000 thoughts every day, and many of those thoughts trigger a corresponding emotion. No wonder so many of us often feel like we're controlled by our emotions. Our lives would be much improved if we controlled them.
In Living Beyond Your Feelings, Joyce Meyer examines the gamut of feelings that human beings experience. She discusses the way that the brain processes and stores memories and thoughts, and then - emotion by emotion - she explains how we can manage our reactions to those emotions. By doing that, she gives the listerner a toolbox for managing the way we react to the onslaught of feelings that can wreak havoc on our lives.
In this audiobook, Meyer blends the wisdom of the Bible with the latest psychological research and discusses:
- The four personality types and their influence on one's outlook
- The impact of stress on physical and emotional health
- The power of memories
- The influence of words on emotions
- Anger and resentment
- Sadness, loss, and grief
- Fear
- Guilt and regret
- The power of replacing reactions with "pro-actions"
- The benefits of happiness

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Definitely the narrator's voice drove me nuts (couldn't stand her accent) but the content of the audiobook was so good from the very beginning that I made it all the way through and was very glad I did.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Sandra McCollom?
Preferably the author...or anyone who doesn't have a harsh southern accent (or whatever kind Sandra does...not good at identifying what kind)
What insight do you think you’ll apply from Living Beyond Your Feelings?
All of it! It was wonderful

In approximately the upper 20% of my 500+ audiobooks.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Living Beyond Your Feelings?
There is no memorable moment, however the overall common sense approach to controlling your feelings and why it s so important is stressed throughout the book.
How could the performance have been better?
It's too monotone. It can actually put me to sleep.
What did you learn from Living Beyond Your Feelings that you would use in your daily life?

There is lot of good information in this book but the narration was horrible. I finish all of my books no matter what but this one, I have yet to finish. Excellent! Changed my life for the better!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would and already have recommended this book to others. It has definitely changed my own perception about how I react to situations and others
Who was your favorite character and why?
I really appreciate the fact that Joyce shares her own personal stories. This makes me hopeful and allows me to realize that everyone struggles! Listening to Joyce is like having your mother grab your hand and pull you out of the way of the oncoming car, tell you to be more careful, and then give you a big hug! I like her because she is real and honest people need to hear it straight out and she does it with just enough compassion.
Have you listened to any of Sandra McCollom’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This was the first time. I thought she did well and was very easy to understand.
What did you learn from Living Beyond Your Feelings that you would use in your daily life?
I learned a different way to react to the people and situations around me. Also, that I can be strong but at the same time let God handle the justice and to focus on how I act and react and to change that.
Any additional comments?
I think this book is excellent for all types of personalities and religious or non-religious beliefs. You don't have to be a Christian to get something out of it but you may just end up being one after you read it!

excellent info, poor reading
I'm a huge Joyce Meyer fan - have maybe 7-8 of her seminar teachings and 3-4 books. This is my first audiobook from her. Great, practical and inspired info that follows the bible very closely. The narrator leaves a lot to be desired - her tone of voice sounds like she is trying to explain a complicated subject to a room full of second graders. Still, the content in this book makes it worth putting up with the poor narration.
